US targets surging grocery prices in latest probe

Aug 1, 2024 (Reuters) – The U.S. Federal Trade Commission will probe why grocery prices remain high even as costs for retailers fall, Chair Lina Khan said on Thursday, a key theme for the Biden-Harris administration.

Once the FTC votes to authorize the study, major grocery chains would be ordered to provide information on their costs and prices on common products. Khan made the announcement at a public meeting with Justice Department officials on pricing practices.

The biggest U.S. industry players include Walmart; club grocery chain Costco Wholesale Corp; Amazon.com, which operates Whole Foods; and big box retailer Target.

Food prices have risen 25% between 2019 and 2023, faster than other consumer goods and services, U.S. Department of Agriculture statistics showed. An FTC study showed food prices for U.S. consumers rose 11% between 2021 and 2022, while profits for food retailers went up more than 6%.

“We want to make sure that major businesses are not exploiting their power to inflate prices for American families at the grocery store,” Khan said.

The FTC has played a major role in the Biden administration’s efforts to cut costs for U.S. households, targeting high prices and junk fees on products and services ranging from airfare to credit cards.

The agency last week launched an inquiry into services that could let companies set different prices based on the shopper’s personal information.

The FTC earlier this year sued to block Kroger’s acquisition of smaller grocery store rival Albertsons, citing concerns the deal would hike prices for millions of Americans.

Dow PLUNGES Nearly 500 Points and Unemployment Rises Amid Fears of ‘US Economic Collapse’: ‘We Didn’t Expect It to Get This Bad’

GETTY

By Patrick O’Donnell

The US central bank’s decision to not cut interest rates could provoke a recession, experts claim

A US recession warning has been issued after global stocks plummeted amid widespread anxiety that the American economy is at risk of a financial “collapse”. These concerns have risen after the Federal Reserve’s refusal to cut interest rates earlier this week with many analysts wondering if the central bank has left it too late.

This Thursday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell nearly 500 points, as investors’ fears over a recession moved closer to becoming reality. The Dow dipped 494.82 points, or 1.21 per cent, to end at 40,347.97. This comes as unemployment jumped to 4.3 per cent the highest since October 2021.

In July, the US economy only added 114,000 jobs, coming in well under previous expectations. Economists polled by Reuters forecasted 175,000 new jobs. Richard Flynn, Managing Director at Charles Schwab UK, said: “Today’s weak jobs report indicates that demand for labour is losing pace.

“The recent loosening in the jobs market has been a positive indicator for inflation prospects, as too much activity can be a precursor to demand-side pressure on prices. Since inflation figures have come into shooting distance of the Fed’s target, however, the balance of risks has begun to change.

“Today’s figures may stir anxieties that central bankers haven’t moved fast enough to cut rates, nudging the jobs market into a downward spiral. The Fed’s lengthy hiking campaign is so close to achieving its objective for inflation – let’s hope that success on that front doesn’t cause the labour market to tumble.”

Despite inflation easing in the United States, the Fed opted to keep the Federal Funds Rate at its 23-year high of between five to 5.25 per cent. This is despite the fact other central banks, including the Bank of England, are taking action to reduce their respective base rates.

Traders have now told The Telegraph that they are surprised at the extend of the fall in stocks. This week, Japan’s Nikkei 225 index closed down 2,216.63 points, representing its second-largest points drop in its history. The plunge came about after weaker than projected factory data from the US revealed output fell to an eight-month low in July.

Initial weekly jobless benefit claims made by Americans jumped to the highest level in 12 months over the period.

Furthermore, the pan-European Stoxx 600 index slumped by 2.15 per cent to a three-month low while Germany’s Dax fell to as much as 1.98 per cent.

The Cac 40 in France dropped sharping to 1.1 per cent with he FTSE 100 dipping by as much as 1.07 per cent.

With markets plummeting sharply overnight and this morning, analysts are sounding the alarm that the Federal Reserve needs to take action as soon as possible.

The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) has only three interest rate announcements left to make this year.

Traders are predicting that the committee will need to complete 1.75 percentage points of interest rate cuts this year to prevent a recession taking place.

To compound existing market concerns, Big Tech giants posted poor results this week, including Apple and Amazon.

Despite Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell hinting at a future rate cut in September, investors appear to be spooked.

AMLO Accuses Blinken of ‘Overstepping’ on Venezuela Vote Results

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has gone too far in his declaration that Venezuela’s opposition candidate won last weekend’s election, according to Mexico’s president.

“With all due respect, what the State Department did yesterday was also excessive,” Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador told reporters Friday in Mexico City. “I apologize to Mr. Blinken, but that is not their place, they are overstepping.”

The Biden administration’s top diplomat said late Thursday it is clear to the US that opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia defeated authoritarian President Nicolas Maduro in the July 28 vote. Although he stopped short of calling Gonzalez president-elect, Blinken urged Venezuelan parties “to begin discussions on a respectful, peaceful transition.”

AMLO, as Mexico’s president is known, also criticized Organization of American States Secretary General Luis Almagro for questioning the results so soon after they were released. Lopez Obrador said Venezuela will start to review voting records on Friday and underlined that foreign governments shouldn’t intervene in the country

Although Mexican diplomats worked with their counterparts in Brazil and Colombia to issue a joint statement calling for an impartial verification of the results, AMLO has avoided questioning Maduro’s self-declared victory and has said proof of alleged irregularities must be presented

Separately Friday, the chief foreign affairs adviser to Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said vote tabulations released by Venezuela’s opposition were informal and that his government was unlikely to follow the Biden administration in recognizing a winner until official records are published.

“So far we have no clear vision because the records were not distributed as expected,” Celso Amorim told CNN Brazil. “I find it difficult to think that Brazil will follow the path of the USA.”

Chingiss Khan’s Khwarazmian Campaign

Episode 7 Chinggis Khan’s Kharazmian Campaign

The Mongol Empire

Dr Craig Benjamin (2020)

Film Review

In the 13th century, the Khwarazmian empire represented the last remnant of the Persian empire, conquered by Alexander the Great in the fourth century BC, the Parthian empire in the third century BC, the Kushan empire in the first century AD and Muslim Turks in the 11th century BC. Khwarazm was home to three major Silk Road cities:

  • Bukahara – founded in 500 BC, adjacent to an oasis settlement dating back to the third millennium BC.
  • Samarkan founded in 700 BC.
  • Merv – founded in the third millennium BC, had an urban population of 300,000 when Chenggis Khan invaded, with hundreds of thousands more in the surrounding country side. One of the largest cities in the world, it never recovered after his youngest son Tolui destroyed its irrigation system in 1221.

After Shah Mohammed (see Chinggis Khan’s Early Conquests) killed Chinggis Khan’s merchants and humiliated his envoys, the Great Khan marched his Mongol warriors, reinforced by Uighur and Karov allies, 2,000 miles across the steppes to attack the Kwarazmian Empire. Choosing to keep his troops in fortified cities, Mohammed refused to confront the Mogol warriors on open ground.

Chinggis Khan’s sons Ogetai and Chagatai led the assault against Otra, where Muhammed had insulted the Mongol envoys. After a month the Mongols captured the governor responsible for the insult, sheltering in a citadel with 20,000 troops. They dragged him back to Mongolia in chains, where they executed him by pouring molten silver in his ears and throat.

Chinggis Khan’s oldest on Jochi joined Chagai and Ogedai in ambushing Urgench, while Chinggis Khan himself. The siege lasted 12 days until the Mongols essentially leveled the walls with the siege engines built by Chinese engineers from the Jin Dynasty. Taking artisans and attractive women as captives, the Mongols slaughtered 20,000 Tajik troops and 75% of the civilian population.

After dispatching his youngest son Tolui and and his son-in-law Toghutshar to lead the attack against Mervi, Chinggis Khan attacked the commercial trading cities of Termez and Balkh. In both cases he ordered all the civilians killed because his spies told him that Mohammed was in the area and could possibly recruit them. Each warrior was ordered to kill 400 men, a slaughter of  700,000-1,000,000.

Tolui’s army, outfitted with siege machines, next attacked Nishapur (in modern day Iran), which he leveled.

Meanwhile Shah Mohammed and his son took refuge on an island in the Caspian Sea, where he died either of pneumonia or dysentery. His son Jalal escaped to India. Leaving some troops to deal with Jalal in case he returned to Kharazm, Chinggis Khan returned to Mongolia to crush a Xi Xia rebellion in China.

Democrats Try to Fire DHS Inspector General Who Could Unravel Trump Shooting

By Julie Kelly, RealClearInvestigations

After the evasive House testimony of now-former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle and FBI Director Christopher Wray’s shortlived suggestion that Donald Trump may not have been hit by a bullet, one man alone may help allay Republican fears that the Biden administration will not conduct a forthright investigation into the attempted assassination of Trump last month: Joseph Cuffari.

The Trump-appointed inspector general for the Department of Homeland Security has already opened two investigations into the U.S. Secret Service, which is under the purview of the DHS, related to the agency’s handling of the July 13 shooting.

But some Republicans are concerned because, they say, Cuffari has been stonewalled by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on other internal examinations – including one that might have revealed Secret Service lapses that might have prevented the attempt on Trump’s life.

Specifically, congressional sources tell RCI that Cuffari’s report, “USSS Preparation for and Response to the Events of January 6, 2021,” has been on Mayorkas’ desk since at least April.

The report, according to Politico, will “cast light on a series of embarrassing security lapses for the agency.” And given some comparisons between Jan. 6 and July 13, the report might shed light on systemic issues that impacted both events.

For example, unanswered questions remain as to why the Secret Service allowed Trump to take the stage at The Ellipse outside the White House around noon on Jan. 6 amid reports of individuals with weapons in the vicinity – a question many Americans have about the July 13 assassination attempt. Law enforcement and spectators noted the presence of a suspicious individual, later identified as the gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, at least a half hour before Trump took the stage in Butler, Pennsylvania.

In addition, no one has explained how the Secret Service failed to notice an alleged pipe bomb found outside the Democrat National Committee DC office on Jan. 6 – while then Vice President-elect Harris was inside the building. Previous reporting by RCI shows multiple law enforcement officers, including one with a bomb-sniffing dog, walking past the bench where the device was found.

Rep. Barry Loudermilk, chairman of a House subcommittee tasked with a separate investigation into Jan. 6 as well as the now-defunct J6 committee, recently accused Mayorkas of intentionally holding the release of the report. The Georgia Republican told Mayorkas in a letter that “the failure to provide an in-depth review of the department’s security planning and operational failures related to January 6 not only raises concerns about the department’s botched planning for former president Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024, but it is quite possible that such reports could have prevented the security breakdown that resulted in the near assassination of a former president and presidential candidate.”

Top Democrats have long sought to remove Cuffari – a former investigator for the Air Force and Department of Justice whom Trump appointed in 2019 in 2019 – from office. The coordinated effort began when the IG notified Congress that a trove of Secret Service texts from January 5 and 6, 2021 had been deleted in late January 2021 under the Biden administration. The purge occurred weeks after every federal agency received a directive from Congress to preserve all evidence related to January 6.

Cuffari said messages belonging to at least 24 Secret Service officials including then director James Murray and Cheatle, who was an assistant director of the agency on January 6, were gone. So, too, were the texts of then acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf and acting deputy secretary Ken Cuccinelli, both Trump appointees.

His office subsequently opened a criminal investigation into the matter.

“The USSS erased those text messages after OIG [Office of Inspector General] requested records of electronic communications from the USSS, as part of our evaluation of events at the Capitol on January 6,” the inspector general wrote in a July 2022 letter to chairmen of both the Senate and House Homeland Security committees, including Rep. Bennie Thompson, who also chaired the Jan. 6 committee at the same time.

Cuffari further flagged the DHS’s lack of cooperation with his inquiry, something he had already pointed out in an earlier report to the committees. “DHS personnel have repeatedly told OIG inspectors that they were not permitted to provide records directly to OIG and that such records had to first undergo review by DHS attorneys,” Cuffari continued in the letter.

Not true, responded Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi. He claimed the texts had been deleted when cell phones were reset to factory settings as part of a device replacement program. “The insinuation that the Secret Service maliciously deleted text messages following a request is false.” (Guglielmi’s truthfulness was brought into question recently when he claimed it was “absolutely false” that the Secret Service rejected the Trump campaign’s multiple requests for additional security prior to the Pennsylvania rally. The Washington Post later confirmed that top Secret Service officials “repeatedly denied” requests for more manpower and equipment to protect the former president at large events.)

And despite initially insisting the texts were not lost, Guglielmi shortly thereafter said the missing Jan. 6-related messages were not recoverable. Cuffari did acquire the cell phones of two dozen Secret Service agents on duty that day, which did not have texts from that day but could have other pertinent information.

But rather than demand that the DHS use its extensive investigative tools to retrieve the texts, Thompson instead turned his fire on Cuffari. Thompson suggested Cuffari’s alleged delay in notifying the committee about the purged texts represented a cover-up and “cost investigators precious time to capture relevant evidence.” Cuffari had, in fact, notified the Homeland Security committee of both the Senate and House, of which Thompson was chairman, at least twice that DHS officials were not cooperating in his J6 probe.

“The Department repeatedly suggested that OIG might not have a right of access to the records sought, but during the months-long period in which access was delayed the Department did not cite any legal authority – that would have justified withholding the information,” Cuffari disclosed in a September 2021 report to Congress.

Despite Cuffari’s warnings related to stonewalling by DHS brass, Thompson accused Cuffari of withholding news of the deleted messages. In a July 2022 letter, just two weeks after Cuffari disclosed the missing texts, Thompson asked him to step aside from the J6 inquiry. Calls for Cuffari’s dismissal have also been driven by the nonprofit “watchdog” group, the Project on Government Oversight. The vice chair of POGO’s board is Debra Katz, a lawyer for Brett Kavanagh’s accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, during his tawdry Supreme Court nomination hearings.

Critics say Thompson’s demand for Cuffari’s recusal appeared to contradict his stated mission to find the truth about Jan. 6. For example, former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson, a star witness for the committee, provided a shocking account about how Trump allegedly assaulted one of the Secret Service agents on his detail that afternoon. Wouldn’t Thompson and the other committee members want records to prove her claims, which are now in dispute by several individuals, including the driver she said Trump tried to attack? Why would Thompson want to get rid of the watchdog attempting to locate messages critical to filling an important missing piece of the Jan. 6 puzzle?

In fact, Thompson told Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky) in February his committee “could have had a better, more thorough report had we had access to all those records.” Thompson further said that the deletions not only violated the Federal Records Act but may have also amounted to obstruction of justice since he had issued a subpoena, the only one his committee sought from an executive office, seeking the records.

Talk but No Action

But neither his committee nor a Democrat-controlled Congress did anything about it. Unlike the committee’s criminal referral to the Department of Justice against Trump for obstructing an official proceeding, Thompson did not pursue criminal charges against any DHS official responsible for erasing the text records.

But Thompson did continue his attacks on Cuffari aided by his House colleagues and DHS IG employees, who wrote a letter accusing Cuffari of “continued mismanagement.” “IG Cuffari has made it clear that he wishes to remain in his position, even in the face of prolonged, deserved criticism in the media, from Congress, from other oversight entities and from his own staff. A true leader would recognize the effect of his actions on his workforce and understand the right thing to do would be to step aside,” anonymous staffers wrote in a September 2022 letter to Joe Biden asking him to fire Cuffari.

The Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency, or CIGIE, which oversees federal inspector generals, also went after Cuffari by opening a flood of inquiries into the DHS IG’s office. In response, Cuffari filed a lawsuit seeking relief  from “an unjust, Kafkaesque system produced by an unconstitutionally structured entity and abetted by a complete absence of independent oversight, accountability and lawful due process.”  A federal judge dismissed his effort to stop the investigation, ruling that he had not suffered any harm.

CIGIE is mired in its own scandals; in May, several Republican House members sent a letter to a top CIGIE official demanding answers about the “politicization” of the organization. During a House hearing on July 24, committee members accused CIGIE chairman Mark Greenblatt of a lack of transparency and the “subjective” nature of CIGIE’s work.

House Democrats, including Thompson, continue to seek Cuffari’s resignation more recently for deleting text messages off his government device. Cuffari told Congress he did not consider the texts applicable under the Federal Records Act.

Intriguingly, as Cuffari begins his probe of the attempt on Trump’s life, his Jan. 6 report may shed light on an alleged threat to Vice President Harris.

More than three-and-a-half years later, investigators still have not arrested anyone for planting pipe bombs outside the headquarters of both the Democratic National Committee and the Republican National Committee on the evening of Jan. 5. The FBI’s investigation reportedly remains open but apparently went cold.

For reasons still unknown, Harris left Capitol Hill around 11:15 a.m. on Jan. 6 following a briefing for the Senate Intelligence Committee. Although an official schedule indicated she planned to go home, she instead arrived at DNC headquarters along with a Secret Service detail at 11:25 a.m.

Video captured by a security camera outside the building showed a bomb-sniffing dog conducting a vehicle search at 9:44 a.m., roughly two hours before Harris’ arrival. The canine did not detect the explosive device sitting just a few feet away near an outdoor bench.

Neither did officers from Capitol Police and D.C. Metropolitan Police, who intermittently arrived at the building throughout the morning and into the early afternoon. Harris’ Secret Service detail did not appear to conduct any meaningful search of the premises before or during her visit.

And when a plainclothes Capitol Police officer discovered the pipe bomb at 1:07 p.m., no officer appeared overly concerned that a device the FBI later said was viable and deadly was within distance of the incoming vice president.

She was evacuated about 10 minutes later.

How did the Secret Service miss the device in plain view? Was anyone fired for failing to properly sweep the area and endangering the life of their protectee? Were new protocols put in place to avoid repeating such a frightening scenario in the future?

Cuffari’s report presumably will finally answer those questions because agency officials have not.

US Failed to Coup Maduro Because He Has Respect of People

Ian DeMartino

On Monday, the National Electoral Council of Venezuela announced that incumbent President Nicolas Maduro had won reelection. The opposition disputed the result and received significant public support from Western countries.

The United States hoped to overthrow Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro by supporting a coup. It failed because the people of Venezuela support Maduro and the Bolivarian revolution, researcher and geopolitical analyst Christopher Helali told Sputnik’s The Critical Hour on Wednesday.

“Of course, we’ve seen this playbook before… not only in Latin America, we’ve seen it in Eastern Europe, we’ve seen it in the Caucasus in Georgia, we’ve seen it all throughout Central Asia,” Helali explained. “Anywhere the United States feels that its interests are threatened, or that a country doesn’t kowtow to Washington or Brussels.”

On Monday and Tuesday, supporters of the opposition started violent riots in the streets, utilizing Molotov cocktails and firearms to fight police. By Wednesday, the government had regained control and tens of thousands of Venezuelans from across the country traveled to the capital Caracas, and took to the streets supporting Maduro. The President joined them in what appeared to be a jubilant and peaceful celebration.

[The West] already were giving people the heads up that there was going to be chaos and disorder if President Maduro was reelected. And, lo and behold, it happened. They said it. It happened,” he explained. “They’re trying to spin it as a crackdown by the government, but that’s not the case. In fact, the government is trying to maintain peace and order. It’s the opposition that wants disorder and chaos, [which is] just the recipe for the US to come in and gobble up all of Venezuela’s oil and natural resources and begin plundering the country like they did before Hugo Chavez’s time.”

While the United States has a long history of successfully supporting coups in other countries, it has had a string of failures that raise the question of whether it is as effective as it used to be

[…]

Helali noted that they may not have the support of “the elite” in the countries who have “dreams of plundering the countries once more with the help of the West.” However, the working class is “fighting to defend their sovereignty and their territorial integrity and their own mode of development and prosperity outside of Western imperialism.”

Ultimately, the people decided that they were “not going to allow some gringos from the north to come and take [Venezuela] and plunder it,” Helali said.

The United States has been trying to overthrow the democratically elected government of Venezuela since Hugo Chavez’s time and the leader of the opposition, Maria Corina Machado, was arrested for taking payments from the US-funded Non-Governmental Organization National Endowment for Democracy (NED) in the early 2000s and met with then-US President George W Bush in 2005

Female Boxer Quits Olympic Match After ‘Biological Male’ Brutalizes Her In 46 Seconds

Zero Hedge

Feminists are once again silent after a female boxer was destroyed in 46 seconds by a ‘biological male’ in an Olympic matchup.

After just 46 seconds and two massive shots to the head, Italy’s Angela Carini threw her helmet onto the mat and abandoned the bout against Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, shouting “This is unjust!”

The 25-year-old Carini, an Italian police officer, refused to shake hands with Khelif – who was previously banned from the 2023 world championships by the International Boxing Association after failing tests to establish gender qualification.

After the Olympic match was stopped, the referee raised Khelif’s hand in the air, while a visibly furious Carini yanked her hand away from the official and stormed off, the Daily Mail reports. She then dropped to her knees and burst into tears, saying she had never felt such strong blows in a match.

“I’m used to suffering. I’ve never taken a punch like that, it’s impossible to continue. I’m nobody to say it’s illegal,” she said after the match.

“I got into the ring to fight. But I didn’t feel like it anymore after the first minute. I started to feel a strong pain in my nose. I didn’t give up, but a punch hurt too much and so I said enough. I’m leaving with my head held high.”

Following the match, Carini spoke with the press where she was clearly distraught.

She said she did not walk away from the fight as a protest against her opponent’s inclusion, but that was a decision for the Olympics to consider.

She was taken away for medical assessment to examine the seriousness of her facial injuries which included a bruised nose.

Carini’s coach in the mix zone after the fight said: ‘I don’t know if her nose is broken. I have to speak with the girl. But many people in Italy tried to call and tell her: ‘Don’t go please: it’s a man, it’s dangerous for you.’  -Daily Mail

On Wednesday evening, the IBA – which banned Khelif – said that the transgender boxer had initially appealed their decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, but “but withdrew the appeal during the process, making the IBA decision legally binding.”

The IBA also directly criticized the IOC, saying “The IOC’s differing regulations on these matters, in which IBA is not involved, raise serious questions about both competitive fairness and athletes’ safety,” however the IOC position is that Khelif, and Chinese transgender athlete Lin Tu-ting of Taipei, “are women according to their passports,” who had qualified under the rules of elligibility.

XY Chromosomes?

There has been some controversy over whether Khelif was actually born a male or a female – with some claiming ‘she’ has hyperandrogenism, a condition which features higher-than-usual levels of androgens (male hormones), however earlier this year IBA president Umar Kremlev told Russian news agency TASS that DNA tests “proved they had XY chromosomes and were thus excluded from the sports events.”

The IBA told The Guardian that it had made the decision “following a comprehensive review and was intended to uphold the fairness and integrity of the competition.”

That said, the IOC – which is embroiled in its own Chinese doping scandal, banned the IBA from running the Olympic boxing tournament in Paris due to long-running issues with governance (they’re Russian) – meaning that the IOC’s Boxing Unit, which has more lax entry requirements, is running the show.

The Algerians say the IBA decision to disqualify Khelif hours before the 2023 world championships in New Delhi, India was a conspiracy to deny them a medal.

“I repeat that all the competitors comply with the eligibility rules,” said IOC spox Mark Adams. “But what I would say is that this involves real people. And, by the way, this is not a transgender issue. I should make this absolutely clear.”

From the IBA:

IBA Secretary General and CEO explained that testing was conducted upon the request of the Technical Delegate and Medical Jury of the Championships. The results became available in seven days and the IBA Secretary General and CEO, acting on behalf of IBA, notified the athletes immediately about their disqualification, giving them twenty-one days to appeal the decision to CAS.

Mr. Yerolimpos confirmed that similar testing was conducted by a different independent laboratory with the same athletes at the previous edition of the IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in Istanbul, Turkey in 2022. However, the results were received only upon conclusion of the event, hence the athletes were not disqualified back then.

Now, the IOC faces a harsh backlash – including UK Prime Minister Liz Truss, who wrote on X: ” When will this madness stop? Men cannot become women. Why is the British Government not objecting to this?”

JK Rowling also chimed in, writing on X: “What will it take to end this insanity? A female boxer left with life-altering injuries? A female boxer killed?”

The Zapruder Film of the Trump Assassination

Skeptical Actuary

A very important video of the Trump shooting was released yesterday. It was shot from just south of building 6, and is 9 1/2 long, with the shots fired almost exactly in the middle. The shots start at the 4 minute 55 second mark.

https://x.com/realDJStew724/status/1817781521190662306

The person who shot it said that the local police confiscated his phone and arrested him. The phone was only recently returned. I am intrigued by the center window of “building 6”, the building Crooks was on top of. It’s the one just to the right of the four big vents that stick out of the side of the building and go above the roof.

Here’s what the window looked like a fair amount of time before the shooting. This is the “normal” look. The “5:02” timestamp should probably be considered approximate, as Mr. Stewart added that in as a caption. Most of the 9 1/2 minute video shows “6:10” as the time, so that’s obviously not being updated to match the time exactly.

Mr. Stewart has a little over an hour of time that is not shown in this video. One it starts up again, it runs continuously.

This shot is taken 1 1/2 minutes before shots start being fired. Notice a little bit of red cloth at the top of the window?

One minute before shots. Now the red cloth covers almost all of the window, and it looks like a lot of the weather-stripping on the top of the window has sagged down:

Seven seconds before shots start: The window looks BROKEN. The fallen weather-stripping seems to have disappeared. There’s an almost horizontal white line running across the middle of the window, as well as a diagonal and vertical line we don’t see elsewhere. The red cloth seems to start a little below the top of the window now, but it goes all the way to the bottom.

Six seconds before shots: Instead of the white lines forming horizontal, diagonal and vertical lines, they now make two curves. The “broken window” appearance is gone.

Four seconds before shots: the window looks “normal”.

Less than a second after the last picture: There is a light oval shaped area in the window, on the left, toward the top. What’s going on? Did someone open the door in the room, allowing us to see the hallway?

One second to go: the window looks pretty normal.

When shots start, the photographer starts running, not surprisingly. So the next few seconds show scenes that are changing so rapidly one would have to look frame by frame to see if there is anything of use.

The next picture is taken within a second after shot 8.

The window is a LOT more reflective here than it was in previous pictures.

The window looks like it’s bowed out a little. In addition, in the first of these pictures there is a dark triangle in the bottom left of the window. There is a second shot I saved, but I decided to not include it since the differences may only be a result of the camera moving, or the compression algorithm. The second picture does not show the dark triangle.

The 9th shot – presumably the one that local snipers took of Crooks and missed – happens at 5:01.

Immediately afterward the window starts becoming less reflective.

At 5:04 the window goes to being not reflective, but has a mysterious bright flash:

Right after that the window looks pretty normal, except for the line across the middle that looks kind of like a stock price graph:

But wait, there’s another flash:

And then it’s back to normal.

Needless to say, I’m quite suspicious that there might have been a shooter in this window. Chris Martenson proposes that hypothesis in his first acoustic analysis video, from July 19. He put out a video analyzing this video yesterday, but it almost exclusively was focused on what the shots sounded like. I don’t care about that too much, because it’s pretty obvious from prior videos that shots 1-3 and 4-8 came from different rifles. The two series sound less different from each other in this video than in other videos, but they still sound different.

So, three big questions:

1)How could a shooter shoot through a window that appears to be closed the whole time?

2) Would someone in this position have a clear view to the stage?

3) If someone shot the first three shots from this window, would that be consistent with the first shot grazing Mr. Trump’s ear and then hitting the railing of the right hand bleachers? (We are pretty sure that bullet did go on to hit a person in the stands and the railing in the stands, although not necessarily in that order.)

For the first question, I think there might have been some kind presto-chango magic act going on. It’s pretty obvious the red curtain went up to obscure someone behind the window. The weird effects like the “drooping weatherstripping”, the “broken glass appearance” and the increased reflectivity and bowing of the window suggest to me that the actual glass in the window was replaced with some kind of plastic that would be reflective (so no one could look in) and would have some kind of self healing qualities. That doesn’t seem too far “out there” considering that this is exactly the kind of thing CIA researchers would create.

What then of the flashes of light a few seconds after shot 8 but before shot 10? Maybe it was a government employee killing the sniper – tying up a loose end. A good candidate for that second sniper would be Maxwell Yearick. The white van with explosives was registered to him. See George Webb’s substack or X posts for more on this georgewebb.substack.com. A word of caution though, some of his hypotheses are too far out there even for me, and he really likes to make cheesy and annoying AI illustrations.

Or maybe the light flashes were camera flashes. I wouldn’t think so, though, because camera strobes only last 1/60 of a second, so they should have shown up in more than one frame of a video.

Second question: would a shooter have a clear view of the stage? I was up until 4AM this morning (past my bedtime of 1:30) looking for videos and diagrams that would show this. I believe the answer is yes.

I took this screenshot from one of Chris Martenson’s videos. If you hold a straightedge from a spot about three feet behind the screen on the stage to that middle window in building six, you will see that the only thing in the way would be that hydraulic lift that’s holding the speaker bank. So the next question is – how tall is that thing?

Thanks to another of Mr. Stewart’s videos, I grabbed another still that shows it pretty well.

You can see people’s heads over all of that thing except for the part where operator would sit when moving it. It’s pretty close, but when I hold that straightedge up, it looks like the line of sight would be just forward of the part where the operator would be (which shows in black overhead photo). The line of site passes through the yellow part of that lift, so I think he would have a clear shot. Remember, Mr. Trump was on a stage that was about 4 feet high, and he is 6’ 3”, so the elevation would be almost 10 feet above the ground.

Third question – elevation. Google earth (which is not to be trusted, especially several days after an event like this, but it’s all I have) says:

Base of building 6 near the center building is 1340 feet, peak of roof is 1355 feet.

Ground level of stage is approximately 1342 feet.

The ground under the right bleachers is 1341 feet. These numbers are all approximate, and they come from a verified left leaning and CIA aligned source. (I mean google doesn’t do google maps, google streets and google earth out of their own resources, just to get a few more people using their search engines).

What Are Prospects for US Now that EU Has Banned Dental Mercury Amalgams?

PPT - MARINE POLLUTION: Heavy Metals PowerPoint Presentation, free download - ID:224843

Leo Cashman

Mercury is one of the most harmful substances among the seemingly limitless pollutants present in a modern industrial nation. From the early “Mad Hatter” archetypes based on hatters using mercury in their work, to massive mercury pollution in Japan in the 20th Century, this substance has had a devastating impact on human health. Now Europe has stepped up with a ban on mercury-containing amalgam dental fillings.

World-wide momentum for a ban

On May 30th, 2024, we received confirmation that the European Union is banning dental amalgam fillings, which are about half mercury. The use and export of amalgam must end on January 1, 2025, and the manufacture and the import are banned as of July 1, 2026. The EU action applies to all 27 of its member states. The EU’s action comes on the heels of increasing crackdowns on dental amalgam in Europe, with bans by Sweden, Norway, and Denmark in 2009 and, in more recent years, moves by Finland, Ireland, Netherlands, Italy, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Moldova to also ban amalgams. There are ten other countries that are discouraging amalgam use, adding to the world-wide momentum against dental amalgam, a momentum that the US and its closest allies, Canada, the UK and Australia have so far resisted. That leaves the question: what is wrong with the US and its close allies? Can’t they see the same science and the same abundant clinical evidence that amalgam fillings, which are half mercury, are harmful? It is estimated that of all the people who have dental restorations, at least half of them have mercury amalgam fillings.

Alfred Stock’s important research

There has been a pitched battle in the US over the amalgam issue for three or four decades. Looking back even farther, we can also mention the work of Professor Alfred Stock, a prominent German chemist who, in the 1920s, discovered that his forgetfulness and brain fog were being caused by his own dental amalgam fillings. Stock’s health improved after he had his own amalgams removed, and he then diagnosed many friends’ problems and encouraged them to have their amalgams removed. He published more than thirty scientific papers on the subject, until his laboratory and most of his records were destroyed by allied bombing raids in World War II. That unfortunate bombing ended his research, and he died in near obscurity. (1)

But the torch never went out

A Brazilian dentist named Pinto incorporated Professor Stock’s science into his own investigations, and he passed on the information to his dentist son, Dr. Olympio Pinto. The latter met up with American dentist Dr. Hal Huggins at a conference in Mexico City in 1973. Pinto revealed that mercury from dental amalgams does leak, and Hal Huggins became a leading investigator of the issue in North America. On into the 1980s and 1990s, Dr. Huggins became a leading critic of amalgams, the head of a busy biological dental clinic in Colorado Springs, CO, and a favorite target of the American Dental Association’s (ADA’s) hostile attacks.

CBS 60 Minutes was a rare truthful media event

In 1990, CBS 60 Minutes did a resounding episode on the dental amalgam issue that was seen on TV by 30 million viewers. The ADA agreed to be interviewed on the show provided that Hal Huggins was not included in the program as one of the amalgam critics. The program catapulted the amalgam issue into public prominence and fueled the growth of holistic dental practices, the growth of scientific investigations, and a surge in consumer activism. DAMS, Dental Amalgam Mercury Solutions was formed in 1990, to educate the public, complementing the work already being done by the professional academies, IAOMT, IABDM and Holistic Dental Association. All of these groups emphasize the importance of having your amalgams removed safely, by a well-trained, well-equipped biological dentist, if they are going to be removed at all. (2)

 Witchhunts of the 1990s

But the 1990s saw major attacks by state dental boards against Hal Huggins in Colorado and against many other dentists in many other states. In 1995, the Colorado Dental Board took away Huggins’ license to practice, and the boards in many other states acted similarly. It was an era of “witchhunts,” with dentists who were removing dental amalgams of their patients being accused of practicing outside of the “standard of care” and of being “unethical.” The local media generally went along with the portrayal of Huggins and his followers as both being driven by greed and going against what the science says – science as described by the ADA.

The Watson-Burton bill

In 2003 a Congressional panel held hearings on the dental amalgam issue and what science actually says. Republican Dan Burton and Democrat Diane Watson jointly became chief authors of a bill to phase out dental amalgam fillings. It was assigned to the House Commerce Committee where it languished and died because it did not get nearly enough co-sponsors to get it a hearing in the committee. Sadly, the media let the issue whither for lack of attention; ever since the CBS 60 Minutes show in 1990, the major media has either ignored the issue or tells the ADA’s biased side of it.

The CATs media multimillion dollar blitz

In April of 2006, some very biased NIH-sponsored studies known as the Children Amalgam Trials (CATS) were completed and published, followed by an immediate media/public relations campaign claiming that, with the two studies, dental amalgams had definitely been shown to be safe for children (the implication being that they must be safe for everyone, so what should adults be worried about?). The DAMS newsletter published a detailed analysis showing that the study’s toxicological questions had not even been completed yet, and the data itself showed signs of mercury retention, particularly in boys. Critics of the studies said that these clinical trials were highly unethical pointing to the experimentation on young children from an orphanage, lured into participation with incentive gifts. But the big media ran with it without mentioning the research defects.

2009 FDA issues an amalgam rule

For decades, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had been dancing around the dental amalgam issue, failing to classify it (i.e., moderate risk, highest risk -requiring a proof of safety?), and finally on July 28, 2009, it did come out with an amalgam “rule.” It offered no protection to the public, and it looked like it had been written by the amalgam industry and the ADA.

The rule said: there was no reason to be careful of amalgam use in children (citing the defective CAT studies); no reason to be cautious about its use in pregnant women; no need for caution for people with neurological disorders (mercury is a notorious neurotoxin) or kidney problems; and no need to inform the patient that amalgam fillings contain mercury.

Obama appointee, Dr Margaret Hamburg, MD, was the FDA commissioner at the time, and she participated in shaping the rule even though she had a glaring conflict of interest: she had served on the board of Henry Schein, Inc, America’s largest amalgam distributor and had received several hundreds of thousands of dollars for serving on its board.

The Global Mercury Ban Treaty

For many years, the countries of the world met annually to hammer out a global ban on mercury. In October 2013, 139 countries gathered in Minimata, Japan, to sign the treaty. While the treaty did help the environment by cracking down on mercury in thermometers, thermostats, and other industrial uses, it was very weak in its mention of dental amalgam. It also totally sidestepped mercury in vaccines, where it is injected directly into the human body as thimerosal, a preservative. So, it was a sweetheart deal for the ADA and for big pharma and its toxic vaccines. As far as protecting the public from its worst exposures to mercury, amalgams and vaccines, the reality was that the treaty missed the mark. But the annual global meetings were productive in giving a chance for the people gathered to share information about the dental amalgam issue and gave many of them the resolve to go back home and work for an amalgam ban in their own countries.

Conclusion

The dental-medical/political-media establishment in the USA is very wedded to what appears to be a dental amalgam mercury cover-up. The media seems to have a pact to stay on message with the cover-up. Deep motives for this misconduct could possibly include: 1) avoiding the embarrassment and shame of being wrong on a hugely important public health issue and the resulting loss of funding and power, 2) a possible desire to  boost the profits of big pharma (people with illnesses and disorders provide a steady flow of customers for big pharma, and you can note that the biggest contributors to the ADA Health Foundation, in the million dollar category, are Pfizer and GlaxoSmithKline), 3) possible population reduction (mercury is a reproductive toxin, causing birth defects and miscarriages), and 4) possibly mind control (mercury weakens a person’s mental clarity, perhaps making a person more willing to be a cog in a machine, guided by media messages, and by governmental authority figures).

Getting America, Canada, and the UK to ban amalgam mercury fillings looks daunting. Getting the media to cover the important issues of mercury and other major toxins also appears daunting. But many people out there are hungry for truth and for protecting freedom. Perhaps together we can all vow to carry on, so that the torch of truth and freedom never die.
