CDC “behavior change” project targeting vaccine critics, funded by Pfizer and New York “Misinformation Response Unit”

Reclaim the Net

The benevolently named Public Good Projects (PGP) describes itself as a public health nonprofit with focus on “large-scale media monitoring programs, social and behavior change interventions.”

A new report is now shedding more light of how the system of censorship and deplatforming of Covid vaccine skeptics worked at the height of the pandemic, including the intricate ties between a number of actors, such as the PGP, and their partners.

One of them is the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) non-profit called the CDC Foundation (the CDC itself was established by Congress). Other partners include FDA, Kaiser Permanente, Rockefeller, and Humana, as per the Tennessee Department of Health, which cites these as part of the bio of the PGP CEO, Dr. Joe Smyser.

And the Public Goods Project in the past received funding not from lobbyists for just any corporate players but those strongly interested in stomping out any vaccine hesitancy – namely, vaccine manufacturers like Pfizer and Moderna.

To add another “ingredient” into this “dish” that will appear unsavory to many, the New York City’s Health Department Misinformation Response Unit was also among those the PGP has in its portfolio of collaborations.

But things get more granular from there. The PGP operates an initiative called Shots Heard, while another one with a similar mission is called Team Halo and is the brainchild of the Verified initiative and the Vaccine Confidence Project.

An Epoch Times report details how in 2021, Dr. Mary Talley Bowden, a doctor who graduated from Stanford, was one of those caught in their crosshairs online.

Bowden’s “crime” was posting content on and TikTok skeptical of the vaccine, and at the same time positive of the use of ivermectin in Covid treatment.

This drew the attention and the ire of influencers on these platforms and , themselves doctors – such as Zachary Rubin and Christina Kim, members of Team Halo.

Bowden was called “problematic” in their posts, and they asked for her license to be revoked.

Only days after, in November 2021, Bowden learned from a Houston Chronicle journalist, rather than from the hospital itself, that she was getting suspended from Houston Methodist.

“Over the following months, Bowden’s life was thrown into chaos as multiple social media influencers targeted her. However, the most dogged was a pharmacist named Savannah, who posts under the handle @rxOrcist,” the article continued.

And “Savannah” – who is a member of Shots Heard – and posts to over a million followers, even managed to accuse Bowden of “xenophobia and racism” because she was talking about anti-ivermectin pharmacists, many of whom happened to be Asian.

The result was TikTok banning Bowden, YouTube suspending her, while suspected fake patients left negative reviews which the doctor is unable to get deleted. And there were even incidents in her office where security had to get involved.

Pentagon Leak: Disinfo Op to Expand Control of Internet & Get Rid of Biden

the Pentagon building in Washington, DC. - Sputnik International, 1920, 14.04.2023Ekaterina Blinova The Pentagon “leak” could have been deliberately orchestrated to force the removal of US President Joe Biden and/or to expand the power of the US government to regulate anything posted on the Internet, Larry Johnson, retired CIA intelligence officer and ex-State Department official, told Sputnik.Twenty-one-year-old Airman 1st Class Jack Teixeira was arrested on Thursday over the much-discussed Pentagon “leaks”. He was charged with unauthorized retention and transmission of national defense information and unauthorized removal and retention of classified documents. In an affidavit accompanying the charges, an FBI special agent revealed that Teixeira had security clearance for the highest level of classification, “top secret/sensitive compartmentalized information” (TS/SCI). “It’s not normal. It’s not typical. It’s not easy, particularly for a member of the National Guard [to gain this level of clearance],” Larry Johnson, a veteran of the CIA and the State Department’s Office of Counter Terrorism, who provided training to the US Military’s Special Operations task force for 24 years, told Sputnik. “So, this is very unusual and strange. The thing that captures my attention is that the individual was part of the Air Force unit that’s involved with information warfare. At that age and at that low rank the possibilities that he would have unlimited access to highly classified material is just extremely unlikely.” The trove of documents was initially released on the Discord platform, popular with gamers, weeks ago. Later, the alleged Pentagon files found their way to major social media platforms and eventually were picked by the US mainstream media. Johnson believes that it was a controlled leak, even though initially the former CIA analyst had been inclined to think that the leaked documents were the work of a frustrated whistleblower. What struck Johnson was a document labeled “CIA Operations Center Intelligence Update” in the trove. “The one document that did capture my attention as far as being highly unlikely that he would ever have access to it was the report from the CIA Operations Center,” Johnson explained. “That document is prepared for internal use only within the CIA. It’s not the kind of document that’s prepared and circulated within the other agencies that are considered part of the intelligence community.” One might ask why the leak was needed. According to the CIA veteran, those who he claimed tricked Teixeira may have sought to kill several birds with one stone: to smear MAGA conservatives, justify new Internet restrictions and remove Joe Biden from the Oval Office. Thus, Teixeira was immediately described as a right winger, as an anti-Semite, as a racist, a gun lover and a religious extremist: he “checks all the boxes” routinely smeared by the US mainstream press. As Johnson wittingly remarked in his blog earlier in the day, “the only thing lacking is that the fellow, Jack Texeira, was not wearing a MAGA cap.” “There’s current legislation being proposed that would not only ban Tik-Tok, but would expand the power of the US government to regulate anything posted on the Internet,” So this could be an act designed to help create political support for that kind of authoritarian crackdown on information, a complete violation of the First Amendment.” “Another possibility is that disclosure of these documents is designed to embarrass the Biden administration, ultimately forcing the removal of Joe Biden,” the CIA veteran suggested.Another thing that set alarm bells ringing for Johnson was Bellingcat, which is characterized by the former State Department official as “an Open Source Intelligence outfit that has been funded by US and British intelligence.” It was Bellingcat that allegedly managed to trace the “leak” to a Discord server called “WowMao,” which seemed to have been sourced from the Thug Shaker Central channel. The story about “leaked Pentagon files” was also picked up by the New York Times and the Washington Post which are largely criticized for being in cahoots with the US federal government and its intelligence agencies. “That’s why I think it’s a disinformation operation,” Johnson said. “Bellingcat has been funded by both MI6 and the CIA and has worked really as what they call an open source intelligence operation. And it has been used as an intelligence entity. And several of the reporters who were involved, both writing for The New York Times, had previously worked with Bellingcat. The timing of this is just very unusual, that all of a sudden it’s just discovered and the documents that are being leaked are very precisely focused on Ukraine, the conflict with Ukraine and Russia’s activities in Ukraine.”The 21-year old appears to be more of a convenient scapegoat rather than a “hero”, according to Johnson. The former CIA analyst does not rule out that Teixeira will be punished alone – akin to William Calley in the My Lai Massacre case – while his chain of command will be let off the hook.”I don’t think he had any clear purpose for what he was doing,” said the CIA veteran. “And it’s not clear why he started doing this. And these things are getting posted to this gamer board. Ostensibly, again, that’s the story we’re being told. I don’t know what to believe anymore from the US government. The lies that have been told are so extensive and so massive. I just don’t know what to believe.” Convenient Scapegoat. They’re using him in this way. He was not working for some foreign intelligence service. He would not have been able just on his own to get access to those documents. I know how really difficult it is, even electronically, when you log into these systems to find some of that information and then to turn it off, then take it out and then decide to photograph and then post it. The story doesn’t add up. “Touching upon the timing of the “leak” the CIA veteran suggested that “elements in the intelligence community” have eventually “recognized that the prospects for Ukraine in the war with Russia are bleak and hurting and getting more dismal by the day so that Russia is going to prevail and Ukraine is going to lose.” “And that has really created some great consternation within elements of the intelligence community,” he concluded. The Greek and Roman View of Celtic Religion

The Celtic God Lugh

Episode 6 The Celtic Religion and Druids

The Celtic World

Dr Jennifer Paxton (2018)

Film Review

Most information about the Celtic Gauls comes from Greek historian Posodonius, Roman historian Pliny the Elder and Roman conqueror Gaul Julius Casar.

According to Posodonius, the Celts were extremely fixated on “treasure,” especially gold, and frequently offered gold as a sacrifice to their gods, often by  dropping it into lakes. French peasants were still depositing precious objects in their lakes in the Middle Ages. After the Roman conquest, Roman emperors would sell off Gaul’s lakes to wealthy landowners, who drained them to access any treasure the Gauls deposited by the Gauls.

Julius Caesar wrote of the Celts’ special connection to birds and severed heads and their belief in reincarnation. The Celts offered special prayers to birds to eat locusts that infested their crops, In some regions, their priests allegedly drank from the skulls of conquered enemies.

Ancient Druids served as lawyers and judges, as well as priests, in Gaul, Britain and Ireland. However there’s no evidence there were ever Druid priests in Celtic Spain. Caesar wrote that Druids went to Britain to study and were exempt from combat and war taxes. He believed the Druids were the primary force behind Gallic resistance and deliberately destroyed their centers of learning.

Required to train for any years, Druids mastered numerous sacred texts by memory in the absence of written language. They played an important role in choosing auspicious dates for battles and other tribal activities. According to Pliny the elder, the Druids only practiced their religion in oak groves and were devoted to mistletoe.*

There are early Greek and Roman records of Druids sacrificing war prisoners to the gods. According to Posodonius the Druids used the slaughter of human victims (the blood splatter, how they fell, etc) to predict the future. Many people who have been ritually killed have been recovered from former Celtic territories (as well non-Celtic territories, such as Scandinavia). Posodonius describes a community of female Druids on Gaul’s west coast at the mouth of the Loire River.

The Celtic calendar was distinctly different from that of Rome, with an eight-day week and days commencing at sunset rather than sunrise. The Roman calendar (adopted by most of the Western world) divides the year into seasons by solstice an equinox dates.

Celtic seasons started on February 1 (with lambing), May 1 (when animals are sent to summer pasture), August 1st (harvest) and November 1 (when animals return from summer pasture and are slaughtered for winter). Since the Celtic day began at sunset, November 1 (our October 31) was associated with fairy folk and remnants of the gods “walking abroad.”

Caesar claimed the Gauls worshiped the Mercury, which Paxton disputes. Late written inscriptions (transcribing the Celtic language into Roman script) refer to the god Lugh, the god of lightening, storms, war, blacksmithing and poetry; the horse goddess Epona; and the fertility goddess Brigid, the origin of the place name Britain.

*Mistletoe was reputed to make barren cattle fertile and to counteract all poisons.

Tell Your Federal and State Legislators to Introduce/Support Utility Meter Choice

Smart and digital utility meters are actively being deployed and mandated across the U.S. without adequately informing consumers of the health, safety and privacy risks. In some cases, this is happening without notification or consent.

Unlike electromechanical analog meters that have been safely used for decades, smart meters and (some) digital meters emit toxic levels of pulsed radiofrequency (RF) radiation, are a fire hazard and enable companies to sell near real-time private usage data to third parties.

To mandate these utility meters is unacceptable – where there is risk, there must be choice!

Take Action and Demand Legislation to Protect Your Health, Safety and Privacy

Use the form below to ask your federal and state representatives to introduce and/or support legislation with the following protections:

  • Utility Meter Choice. In states where smart and digital meters have been deployed, allow consumers to opt out.
  • Consumer Consent. In states where smart and digital meters have not yet been deployed, require utility companies to obtain consumer consent before installations (i.e., require an opt in).
  • Protective Privacy Laws. Require utility companies to be transparent about how utility meter data is collected, managed, stored, used and sold.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Calls on US to Explain Military-Biological Activities Abroad

Sputnik – 12.04.2023

Via Aletho News

BEIJING – China has called on the United States to explain its military-biological activities abroad and observe its international obligations, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, Russia’s upper house approved the final report of a parliamentary commission on the US biological program in Ukraine. The lower house approved the document on Tuesday. The paper is a result of the commission’s one-year investigation.

“We reiterate our calls on the United States to faithfully observe their international obligations and provide comprehensive explanations on its military-biological activity within the country and abroad,” Wang told a press conference.

According to Konstantin Kosachev, deputy speaker of Russia’s upper house of parliament, there are at least 30 US biological laboratories in Ukraine. The official also said that that the Pentagon was the main commissioner of studies at such laboratories, which may be used for military purposes, including against Russia.

European Commission President: EU Cannot Blindly Follow Washington: EC President

European Council President Charles Michel.

teleSUR Newsletter

“Europe has allowed itself to be led by the U.S. but we’re now beginning to create our own voice and to distance ourselves from the U.S.,” an East Asian specialist commented.

On Thursday, European Council President Charles Michel said that European leaders are becoming increasingly supportive of French President Emmanuel Macron’s push for “strategic autonomy” away from the United States.

More and more European Union leaders have echoed Macron’s comments that Europe should resist pressure to become “America’s followers,” Michel told the U.S.-based POLITICO news service.

“On the issue of the relationship with the United States, it’s clear that there can be nuances and sensitivities around the table of the European Council… I think quite a few really think like Emmanuel Macron,” the European Council president pointed out.

“There is indeed a great attachment that remains present, and Macron has said nothing else, for this alliance with the United States. But if this alliance with the U.S. would suppose that we blindly, systematically follow the position of the U.S. on all issues, no,” he said.

Joaquin Beltran, a professor of East Asian Studies at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, has a similar opinion about the possible evolution of the U.S.-EU relations.

“Europe has allowed itself to be led by the United States but we’re now beginning to create our own voice and to distance ourselves from the United States,” he said and analyzed the recent trips to China by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and Macron.

“Macron has just been to China and has followed the same line as Sanchez, although in a much more assertive way, saying that we have to begin distancing ourselves from what the United States wants,” Beltran said.

During Macron’s visit, the key topics included the situation in Ukraine and the 12-point peace plan that China unveiled in February. Ending the conflict in Eastern Europe was also high on the agenda during Sanchez’s visit.

“There’s a type of boycott by the U.S. against any peace initiative because the U.S. does not want there to be peace in Ukraine,” Beltran said and argued that while American elites may have an interest in a continuation of the Ukraine conflict, it is not a position shared by China.

Bad Pfizer Vaccine Batches Account for 4.2% of doses but 71% of Serious Adverse Events

Schmeling, M, Manniche, V, Hansen, PR. Batch-dependent safety of the BNT162b2 mRNA COVID-19 vaccine. Eur J Clin Invest. 2023; 00:e13998. doi:10.1111/eci.13998

By Peter A. McCullough, MD, MPH

Explains Why Some Have Severe Side Effects and Others Do Not

I am routinely asked: why are so many people who took the COVID-19 vaccines apparently fine while others are suffering heart damage, strokes, blood clots and are ending up disabled or dead? It has been suspected for many months that there may be variations in vaccine lots or batches that could partially explain these observations. In other words, not everyone is getting the same dose of mRNA.

Under Emergency Use Authorization, the vaccine companies and their subcontractors do not have any inspections of the final filled and finished vials. This is unprecedented for a widely used product of any type. It is possible that lipid nanoparticles aggregate in suspension and so some batches may contain more mRNA than others. Likewise, since lot size has varied over time, it is possible that contaminants from the manufacturing process may be concentrated in some smaller lots compared to larger ones. Finally, there may be product transport, storage, and use factors that denature mRNA including heating, air injected into vials, and multiple needles dipped into the suspension.

The contaminant issue came to light as Japan returned millions of doses when visible debris was seen in the bottom of the vials. Additionally, since metallic beads are used by the biodefense contactors, it is possible that smaller initial lots could have had magnetic debris that explained “magnetism” in the arm where the shot was given as reported early in the vaccine campaign.

A report from Schmeling and coworkers using Pfizer BNT162b2 mRNA COVID-19 vaccine found that 71% of serious adverse events came from 4.2% of doses (high risk batches) conversely <1% of these events came from 32.1% of doses (low risk batches). The variation explained for the high and moderate risk batches was 78 and 89%, respectively. Thus as more doses were given out of those vials, the greater the number of side effects were reported. This means that the majority of risk is in the shot and not the person who received it.

These are critically important results. They imply the COVID-19 vaccine debacle is indeed a product problem and not due to patient susceptibility in most circumstances. Additionally, the lack of inspections has led to a safety disaster. Some unfortunate patients are getting too much mRNA, contaminants, or both and thus are exposed to damaging and in some cases, lethal injections.

Supreme Court allows $6 billion student loan debt settlement

NBC News

WASHINGTON — A settlement that will allow thousands of student loan debts to be canceled will go into effect after the Supreme Court on Thursday declined to block it.

The Supreme Court in a brief order rejected a request made by colleges challenging the settlement.

The case is unrelated to President Joe Biden’s broader effort to forgive student loan debt, which is also before the justices, with a ruling due in the next two months.

The class-action settlement concerns loans that borrowers claim should be canceled because they were taken out based on misrepresentations made by their schools, many of which are for-profit. The settlement could be worth more than $6 billion.

The case arises from a settlement that California-based U.S. District Judge William Alsup approved in November in a case brought by borrowers. The government has already started implementing the settlement.

The application at the Supreme Court was filed by Everglades College, Lincoln Educational Services Corp. and American National University. Lincoln and American National are for-profit enterprises, while Everglades is not-for-profit. All three operate colleges the federal government placed on a list of more than 150 institutions that it said are linked with claims of “substantial misconduct.”

The colleges object to that characterization. The Justice Department says about 3,800 of the affected loans involve the three colleges and approximately 400 of them have already been discharged.

The federal Higher Education Act allows debt cancellations in specific circumstances, but the challengers say Education Secretary Miguel Cardona has exceeded his authority.

“The secretary’s claimed authority amounts to nothing less than the power to cancel, en masse, every student loan in the country,” the challengers said in court papers.

2 Million People Bolted From America’s Major Cities Since The Lockdowns

Millions of people left major cities in the United States between 2020 and 2022, years dominated by government lockdown policies and elevated crime rates, according to an analysis released last week by the Economic Innovation Group.

Domestic outmigration from large urban counties reached 1.2 million residents in 2021 and 861,000 residents in 2022, implying that more than two million people moved from large cities in recent years. The trend contributed to a population surge in the suburbs and exurbs, which saw 486,000 and 822,000 new residents, respectively, between 2020 and 2022.

Increased rates of immigration from outside of the United States, however, added 507,000 residents to large cities in 2022, an increase from 186,000 residents in 2021 as worldwide travel restrictions eased. “Though large urban counties have not yet rebounded from large population outflows experienced in 2020 and 2021, they did nearly halt overall population loss in 2022, buoyed by more normal rates of international migration,” the analysts summarized.

Individuals who took advantage of remote work policies appear to have accelerated the domestic migration phenomena even as constrained housing markets likely slowed the trends.

“We find work-from-home related fundamentals remained important drivers of population shifts in 2022 but less than they were in 2021. One reason may be that the shift to remote work early in the pandemic was a one-time shock and this led to a one-time, temporary change in migration patterns, which are now converging towards normal,” the analysts said. “Alternatively, remote work may have an impact on migration patterns that will take a longer time to unfold. In this case, the weaker relationship with work-from-home fundamentals may be due to housing supply becoming a more binding constraint to work-from-home-driven population shifts.”

Lockdown mandates caused low labor force participation and supply chain bottlenecks, worsening already lackluster levels of new construction for residential real estate. Median home sale prices increased from $322,600 in the second quarter of 2020 to $467,700 in the fourth quarter of 2022, according to data from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Data released by the Census Bureau at the end of last month demonstrate that counties home to major cities in California, Illinois, and New York witnessed the nation’s most stark numeric population decline last year, while those home to major cities in Arizona, Texas, and Florida saw the largest numeric population growth. Los Angeles County, California, lost more residents than any other county in the United States as the population fell by 91,000 between July 2021 and July 2022. Cook County, Illinois, whose county seat is Chicago, saw its population decrease by 68,000 over the same time horizon.

Population trends correspond with the cities and states which enforced aggressive lockdown mandates. California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom only reversed the state of emergency established amid the spread of COVID as late as February 2023, while Chicago Democratic Mayor Lori Lightfoot informed unvaccinated residents as late as December 2021 that their “time is up” and said her health mandates were “inconvenient by design.”

Elevated violent crime and property crime rates in American cities have contributed to an exodus of businesses and residents. The phenomenon has continued into 2023: Walmart announced this week that the firm would shutter four stores in Chicago, while Whole Foods unveiled the forthcoming closure of the organic grocer’s flagship location in San Francisco.

U.S. Approves First 3 COVID Vaccine Injury Claims

By  Brenda Baletti, Ph.D.

The Health and Resources Service Administration approved its first three payments to people injured by COVID-19 vaccines — one for anaphylaxis and two for myocarditis — amounting to a total of $4,634.89.

The payments were made through HRSA’s Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program (CICP).

The CICP was established under the Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness (PREP) Act, which protects pharmaceutical companies from liability for injuries sustained from “countermeasures,” such as vaccines and medications, administered during a public health emergency.

Since 2010, when it approved its first claim, the program has compensated a total of 33 claims for vaccine injuries — but these are the first awards for COVID-19 vaccines.

“These long-awaited awards were overdue, highly anticipated and speculated upon,” said Kim Mack Rosenberg, acting general counsel for Children’s Health Defense (CHD). “What is remarkable is that less than $5,000 was paid — total. This is a tragedy that highlights the severe limitations of the program.”

CHD Acting President Laura Bono called the payouts for myocarditis “insulting,” given that mortality rates increase to 50% within five years of diagnosis.

Bono said:

“The CICP is a pathetic, government-run program that gives complete liability protection to the very industries profiting from the COVID vaccine or product. While victims linger with their injuries, paying out-of-pocket for expenses, or at worst die, the industries run to the bank.”

Since the start of the pandemic, people claiming injuries related to COVID-19 vaccines and other countermeasures submitted 11,425 requests for compensation.

Of those, only 19 have been declared eligible for compensation and are undergoing a “medical benefits review” to determine payment.

The anaphylaxis case had been pending medical benefits review since the fall of 2021, and the two myocarditis cases had been pending review since January.

During the medical benefits review, HRSA determines any costs remaining after insurance, workers’ comp, disability or other reimbursements or payments.

Wayne Rohde, an expert in vaccine injury compensation, wrote on his Substack that given the “18+ months to review previous medical benefits that may have been awarded to the injured party [the anaphylaxis case], this process tells me it was a major injury that resulted in very large medical bills.”

Myocarditis is a serious condition that also requires a lot of medical attention, Rohde said.

To date, there have been 1,541,275 reports of adverse events following COVID-19 vaccination submitted to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS).

How does vaccine injury compensation work? the VICP and CICP

HRSA, which operates under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), administers two vaccine injury compensation programs: the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) and the Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program (CICP).

The VICP is a special, no-fault tribunal housed within the U.S. Court of Federal Claims that handles injury claims for 16 common vaccines on the childhood vaccination schedule. To date, it has awarded more than $4 billion for medical bills, lost wages, lawyer fees, and pain and suffering to thousands of people for vaccine injuries.

The program does not currently cover COVID-19 vaccine injuries. Should COVID-19 vaccines be moved into the program, any injuries would be handled by the already overwhelmed VICP.

The CICP, the only program that covers COVID-19 vaccine injuries at this time, is even less equipped to deal with them, Rohde told The Defender.

“For COVID-19 vaccine-injured people, the CICP is the worst place, it’s the worst option,” Rohde said, “because it is not really a compensation program, it’s a reimbursement program for medical costs.”

The CICP allows individuals to claim compensation only for unreimbursed medical expenses — meaning those not fully reimbursed by insurance or government programs, such as Medicaid — for death and for lost wages up to $50,000.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, under the CICP:

“Eligible individuals may be compensated for certain reasonable and necessary medical expenses and for lost employment income at the time of the injury. Death benefits may be paid to certain survivors of covered countermeasures recipients who have died as a direct result of the covered countermeasure injury.

“The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is the payer of last resort. Therefore, payments are reduced by those of other third-party payers.”

“There’s no pain and suffering here, there’s nothing,” Rohde said.

Because the CICP reviews and resolves claims through an administrative rather than a judicial process, no details other than the amount of the payments have to be shared with the public.

“It’s designed to be very convoluted, very non-transparent,” Rohde said.

The CICP was known for its cumbersome claims process and low likelihood of success for claimants even before the pandemic. Since then, it has seen unsustainable growth.

According to HRSA’s numbers, of the 11,941 claims filed with the CICP since 2010, nearly 11,000 of them are still under review.

The HRSA budget for COVID-19 vaccine injury compensation will increase in fiscal year 2023 — from approximately $1 million to $5 million — and its budget for staffing and contractors will jump from $5 million to $9.5 million.

How would COVID vaccine injury compensation change under the VICP?

For vaccine injury claims to be covered under the VICP rather than the CICP, three requirements must be met:

  1. The vaccine needs to be recommended for routine administration for children and pregnant women.
  2. It needs to have an excise tax imposed upon it through the legislature.
  3. There needs to be a notice of coverage published in the federal record.

The COVID-19 vaccine was added to the childhood immunization schedule earlier this year — but the next two steps in the process have yet to be completed and public health officials have not indicated when this might happen.

The National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine met for three days last month — behind closed doors, except for a two-hour public comment period — to review the epidemiological, clinical and biological evidence on adverse events associated with COVID-19 vaccines.

The committee will generate a report that will be used to add injuries to the federal Vaccine Injury Table, which lists known adverse events associated with existing vaccines.

This list helps the VICP and the CICP decide whether to compensate vaccine injury claims.

At the National Academies meeting, Professor Renee Gentry, director of the Vaccine Injury Litigation Clinic at The George Washington University Law School, told the committee the stakeholders that created the VICP — vaccine manufacturers, lawyers and parents — set it up to be petitioner-friendly, informal, generous and non-adversarial.

But instead, she said, HHS has been “unrelenting” in its opposition to recognizing vaccine injuries.

“I believe the VICP as it exists today would be unrecognizable to those original stakeholders,” she said.
