Washington has expressed grave concern following confirmed Israeli airstrikes targeting the Abu al-Duhur Military Airbase in northern Syria, which a senior US diplomat condemned as an unhelpful move.

US envoy to Syria and Ambassador to Turkiye Tom Barrack stated via social media that the bombardment of the Idlib-based facility represents an unnecessary escalation that fails to promote regional stability.

Barrack emphasized that the Syrian government has neither adopted aggressive postures nor maintained proxy forces, having repeatedly expressed a desire for de-escalation with Israel. He added that Washington remains committed to facilitating diplomatic dialogue between Israel and Syria.

Early today, an Israeli aircraft executed eight distinct strikes hitting the runway of the Abu al-Duhur airfield in eastern Idlib. According to reports from Al-Ikhbariya TV, the raids resulted in significant structural damage to local infrastructure, though no casualties were reported from the scene.
