Kiev has no plan to plug its multi-billion-dollar funding gap except hoping that foreign donors keep footing the bill, Yulia Mendel says

Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky “has already lost” the conflict with Russia, but persists in his “suicidal” policies, as Kiev has no idea how to cover its budget deficit without another massive cash infusion from the West, Zelensky’s former spokeswoman, Yulia Mendel, has said.

In a post on X on Saturday, Mendel said Ukraine needs $52.6 billion in international financing for next year’s budget, of which only around $20 billion has so far been confirmed or is expected under current programs.

Ukraine also faces a separate problem – an unexpected $27 billion defense shortfall for 2026 that Kiev disclosed in late August, after Zelensky embarked on a 40-day PR campaign to pressure Russia.

The campaign only triggered an escalation in the conflict, in which Russia ramped up strikes on Ukraine’s defense-related facilities and logistics, including the port of Odessa, a key hub for agricultural exports.

Mendel added that Kiev’s “partners do not give [money] because there are no reforms,” referring to the EU and IMF, which have noted Ukraine’s lack of progress in areas such as taxation, governance, and corruption.

“The Ukrainian government has no real plan,” she wrote, arguing that Kiev’s strategy amounts to hoping “someone else will keep paying for a war they refuse to end.”

Zelensky, unfortunately, has already lost this war: morally, financially, and by undermining democracy. And now all of his policies are suicidal.

Mendel served as Zelensky’s press secretary from 2019 to 2021, but has since become an outspoken critic, accusing her former boss of turning Ukraine into a “milder version” of Nazi Germany. This month, the Ukrainian leader placed sanctions on Mendel, including an asset freeze.

She was denied entry to the European Parliament building, where she was set to address an event organized by German AfD MEP Hans Neuhoff. Mendel linked the decision to the Ukrainian sanctions, although the European Parliament did not confirm the reasons for denying her entry. In a separate interview this month, she said she asked God for forgiveness for helping “this scum” come to power in Ukraine.

Rodion Miroshnik, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry mission tasked with documenting Ukrainian war crimes, argued that the EU would ultimately have to “squeeze something out” from its coffers to cover Kiev’s growing needs to protect its previous investments.

Patents, Pathogens and Profits: Organised Crime and Biowarfare

Ignoring the real biowarfare threat | Lowy Institute

By NZDSOS, 20 September 2026

The covid era has exposed a litany of organised crime within the systems that most of us once trusted as being grounded in legitimacy and integrity. None more so than the structures that our health care and research systems are built upon. Here, we take a look at the patents system being used by corporate executives, public officials and the “experts” they finance, to exploit and commoditise humanity (as well as the animal and plant kingdoms).

What is the Patents System?

The patents system ensures legal protection for a limited term to the person or group who created a new invention or discovered new knowledge. A patented invention can only be produced, used or sold, by its inventor(s) for the term of the patent. In exchange for these exclusive rights, the inventor(s) must share the technical information about their invention for the public to learn from.

Patents are regulated in various ways including via the World Intellectual Property Organization (a specialised agency of the United Nations), who administer a number of relevant treaties. Most nations also have patent laws and agencies such as the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand.

Naturally occurring phenomena are discovered rather than invented, which excludes them from patent eligibility unless they have been modified. Pathogens which have been genetically engineered to be different than their natural origin are an example of patent-eligible products.

Patents can be searched for at a number of sites such as Justia Patents and Google Patents.

What is Wrong With the Patents System?

Dr David Martin has been tracking and monitoring violations of international conventions on biologic and chemical weapons research and manufacturing for three decades. In this detailed 2021 interview with James Patrick at Planet Lockdown, Dr Martin explains the corruption of the patents system and the evidence that the patents system provided, of SARS-CoV-2 having been altered in a laboratory.

Dr Martin explains that the patents system hides, in plain sight, a lot of intellectual property theft and misappropriations of technology. This is especially prominent in the area of biological and chemical weapons, toxins and ammunitions. “People are proud of the fact they could get patents on things which probably should never have been the subject of research let alone commercial controls and market manipulations“.

In a detailed analysis of patent filings Dr Martin found that at least 80% of patents issued to large pharmaceutical companies are initially rejected for not conforming to patent law. The rejections are often overridden by back-room deals without the product meeting legal or statutory requirements.

As an example, Spikevax manufacturer Moderna recently settled a patent dispute with US$950 million paid to two biotech firms who alleged that Spikevax infringed their lipid nanoparticle patents. This may help to explain how a company who had never brought a product to market until the golden egg of Spikevax, was able to pivot into one of the most successful corporations in human history. Estimated fraud payments and criminal fines are built into balance sheets so that profits remain guaranteed.

Pandemics and Patents: The Biowarfare Business Plan

Describing the use of pathogens to create a market for products, Dr David Martin exposed the very long history of coronaviruses in a presentation at the European Parliament in June 2023. View the slides here. See his second European Parliament presentation in September 2023, at this link.

Coronavirus as a model of a pathogen was isolated in 1965 … a pathogen that could be used and modified for a whole host of reasons … In 1966 the very first CoV coronavirus model was used as a Transatlantic biological experiment in human manipulation … a data sharing experiment between the United States and the United Kingdom … and in 1967 we did the first human trials on inoculating people with modified coronavirus …

Over the years many patents have been filed relating to pathogens with pandemic potential. For example, a year after the 2002 SARS outbreak which was alleged to have claimed over 700 lives, the US Centers for Disease Control filed an application to the US Patents Office for a Coronavirus isolated from humans. The patent discusses modifications and citations providing evidence that SARS-CoV was used to assist in the creation of chimeric viruses using recombined genetic sequences.

Gain of function research (a euphemism for biowarfare research) is being enabled by the World Health Organization who are engaging directly in this research and whose international legislation includes a Pathogens Access and Benefits Sharing System (PABSS) in Article 12 of the WHO Pandemic Agreement still under negotiation.

In typically inverted language, WHO claims that the PABSS would “make the world safer from future pandemics“. In fact, the PABSS will clearly increase gain of function research capabilities by making viral genetic sequences available online. The intent of this is to scale up financial commitments by governments who are embedding pandemic preparedness into budgets and policies across multiple sectors.

In 2015 researchers including Ralph Baric, virologist at the University of North Carolina (UNC) Chapel Hill, filed a patent for Methods and compositions for chimeric coronavirus spike proteins with the US Patents Office. The chimera in this patent is named HKU3-Smix.

Chimeric: an entity composed of cells, tissues, or genetic material from two or more genetically distinct sources.

Chimera: a fire-breathing hybrid monster from Greek mythology, composed of a lion’s head, a goat’s body, and a serpent’s tail. Born to the monstrous parents Typhon and Echidna, this creature terrorized the region of Lycia until it was slain by the hero Bellerophon riding the winged horse Pegasus.

The summary of the invention in the patent for HKU3-Smix describes the manipulation of four different regions of the spike protein using coronaviruses HKU3, SARS-CoV and BtCoV279. Independent researcher Jim Haslam suggests that evidence shows HKU3-Smix is in fact SARS-CoV-2 and is calling for an investigation.

The HKU3-Smix patent, granted in February 2018, outlines eliciting “an immune response” in infected subjects to justify implementing testing, preventative and/or treatment interventions. This is gain of function research being used to create a market for medical products.

It is clear that Baric knows exactly what he is involved in. His 33 page curriculum vitae includes 107 professional development / invited presentations, including an event in 2005 titled Synthetic Coronaviruses. Biohacking: Biological Warfare Enabling Technologies.

In 2016 Baric published a peer reviewed article titled SARS-like WIV1-CoV poised for human emergence. As we outlined previously, in May of 2018 Baric gave a 40 minute presentation at UNC Chapel Hill titled How Bad Could the Next Pandemic Be, What Might it Look Like, and Will We be Ready.

In the below clip Baric boasted to his audience about the profits that can come from a pandemic. In January 2019 Belgium’s 2009 Swine Flu commissioner Marc Van Ranst, similarly boasted about his experience in manipulating public perception to an audience at Chatham House in London which included UK government pandemic advisors.

Another example of the many thousands of actors in the organised crime syndicate abusing science to implement a protection racket, is Dutch virologist Vincent Munster, Chief of the Virus Ecology Section at the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Biosafety Level 4 Rocky Mountain Laboratories in Montana. Munster and a colleague were detained by border agents in Detroit in January 2026 and charged with attempting to smuggle vials containing Mpox, chickenpox and human DNA from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Should we take comfort from these arrests that, at some level at least, legal boundaries are being enforced?

In 2018 Munster partnered with Baric on research into host susceptibility to coronaviruses. The virus for this research (WIV1-CoV) was transported from the Wuhan Institute of Virology to Rocky Mountain Laboratories.

Deserving of mention here is biowarfare researcher, British Zoologist and former head of EcoHealth Alliance, Peter Daszak who we have mentioned previously. At a 2016 workshop on Developing Medical Countermeasures (MCMs) for Coronaviruses, Daszak claimed that:

“Until an infectious disease crisis is very real, present, and at an emergency threshold, it is often largely ignored. To sustain the funding base beyond the crisis, he said, we need to increase public understanding of the need for MCMs such as a pan-influenza or pan-coronavirus vaccine.

A key driver is the media, and the economics follow the hype. We need to use that hype to our advantage to get to the real issues. Investors will respond if they see profit at the end of process.“

In a 2019 interview with New York University virologist Vincent Racaniello, Daszak described his work, largely funded by US federal money. As well as promoting the One Health approach being embedded into World Health Organization’s pandemic legislation for the purposes of justifying global governance, he admitted to working on a number of viruses listed by GAVI as being the possible cause of “the next pandemic” including Rift Valley Fever, Nipah and Coronaviruses. In reference to coronaviruses, he admitted to conducting gain of function research in partnership with Ralph Baric.

“… coronaviruses are pretty good, you can manipulate them in the lab pretty easily, the spike proteins drive a lot about what happens … you can get the sequence, you can build the protein … insert it into the backbone of another virus …“

Records released in 2023 to Judicial Watch confirmed that EcoHealth Alliance collaborated with the Wuhan Institute of Virology to create mutant viruses “to better predict the capacity of our CoVs [coronaviruses] to infect people.” In January 2025 EcoHealth Alliance and Daszak were defunded and debarred for five years by the Department of Health and Human Services for their role in the covid pandemic.

By April 2025, Daszak had started a new non-profit, Nature Health Global, whose work includes claims of “preventing future pandemics” and “countering disinformation and protecting science”. Illustrating the collaborations within the biowarfare business model, by June 2025 Nature Health Global had signed a five year contract with Springer-Nature, to manage the high-impact quarterly peer-reviewed journal EcoHealth.

Patents Beyond Viruses: The Cancer Pandemic and Coinciditis

In 2013 Moderna filed a patent for Modified polynucleotides for the production of oncology-related proteins and peptides to the US Patents Office. Inventors of the patent are listed as Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel and colleagues. In February 2022 Frontiers in Virology published an article describing a “highly unusual” exact match between this patent and a 19-nucleotide portion of the furin cleavage site on the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein.

When asked about this incredible coincidence in a February 2022 interview, Bancel dismissed it with a confident chuckle, stating “our scientists are looking into those data to see how accurate they are“. No doubt the same scientists who patented the nucleotide sequence investigated themselves to find no wrongdoing. Read more on this, and on Bancel’s connections with the Wuhan Institute of Virology, at John Leake’s Focal Points article.

Profits Beyond the Pandemic

In order to offer lay-friendly insights to those attempting to make sense of this issue, we have kept this summary brief and as uncomplicated as possible. Thousands of virologists and scientists are conducting similarly fraudulent research under the guise of “public health”.

The covid plandemic has set the scene, and offers a template for ongoing plundering which threatens our very lives, let alone our relatively free existence up until recent times. However, the Epstein class – those committing high level crimes with infinite entitlement and zero accountability – is being exposed via the trails of money and patents, as uncovered by the likes of researchers we share below. It is up to the people, what we do with this information.

Bans on Iranian flights hurt Iraq’s economic recovery, affect key business sector

Vice Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Adnan Fayhan al-Dulaimi (Photo by Iraqi News Agency)

Press TV

26 September 2026

Vice Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Adnan Fayhan al-Dulaimi, has condemned in the strongest terms the sanctions imposed by the US Treasury Department on Iranian airlines, describing the measure as “unconsidered and unconstitutional” and detrimental to Iraq’s economic recovery and key business sector.

“Iraq and Iran are bound by geographical, religious and social ties. They also share common interests and challenges. Such commonalities oblige the Iraqi government and nation to stand by the neighboring Muslim country and its people. It is indeed a religious and moral duty,” Dulaimi said in a statement on Saturday.

He pointed out that “Iran was the first country to supply munitions and dispatch senior commanders and military advisers to Iraq during the campaign against Takfiri Daesh terrorists.”

“This is while other countries stood idly by and watched, and some even supported Daesh financially and militarily.”

“Iran also supplies Iraq with natural gas despite its own growing domestic demand, and the fact that the Baghdad government has failed over years to pay off the debts which now stand at billions of dollars,” Dulaimi said.

The senior Iraqi legislator noted that the “hasty and unconsidered decision” to ban Iranian flights is inconsistent with the principle of dissociation from conflicts and impartiality, and runs contrary to the Iraqi Constitution.”

He stated that Article 8 of the Constitution stipulates that Iraq shall observe the principle of good-neighborliness, commit itself to non-interference in the internal affairs of other states, seek to settle disputes by peaceful means, establish its relations based on common interests and reciprocal treatment, and respect its international obligations.

“This decision disrupts Iraq’s economic and developmental progress. It has significantly and seriously harmed an important sector of our economy, namely religious tourism,” he said.

“Iranian airlines are the main carriers for hundreds of thousands of Iranian and Iraqi nationals traveling between the two countries via Baghdad and Najaf airports. The ban will dramatically decrease tourism and commercial revenues, incur losses for airlines and travel agencies, and reduce revenue from passenger air transportation,” Dulaimi stated.

He warned that at least one-third of Iraq’s power generation plants would cease operation in case Iran adopts a tit-for-tat measure and stops supplying Iraq with natural gas.

Iraq’s national electricity grid would collapse under such a scenario, he cautioned, adding that a complete halt would directly cause roughly 30% to 40% of operating power plants to shut down.

“This will increase hours of power outage in Baghdad as well as central and southern governorates, and paralyze vital sectors like hospitals, water treatment facilities, pumping stations, and public service centers,” Dulaimi said.

Badr Organization censures new US aviation sanctions on Iran

Meanwhile, the leader of Iraq’s Badr Organization has vehemently denounced the new US aviation sanctions on Iranian flights.

“We strongly reject and condemn the unjust blockade imposed by the United States on Iran, particularly the recent ban on flights,” Hadi al-Amiri said in a statement on Saturday.

He urged the Iraqi government not to yield to the unwise decision, describing the matter as a litmus test for realizing the country’s full and comprehensive sovereignty.

“The Iraqi government must take heed of the Iraqi nation’s will, and review this unreasonable measure,” Amiri pointed out.

On September 8, the Treasury Department imposed sanctions on 27 Iranian airlines and issued a cautionary statement warning that international airports, fuel distributors, ground-handling enterprises, and other service providers that engage with sanctioned carriers would be subject to secondary sanctions.

Tens if Thousands Protest German Conscription Plans

Germany introduces controversial new military service law, with powers ...
RT
26 Sep, 2026
Students rallied in some 100 cities and towns across the country against Berlin’s military buildup

Tens of thousands of students took to the streets across Germany on Friday to protest the government’s military service reform amid Berlin’s push to expand the armed forces, citing the alleged threat from Russia.

Organizers of the “School Strike Against Conscription” said around 45,000 students joined demonstrations in some 100 cities and towns on Friday. Police did not provide a nationwide figure, but reported around 2,400 protesters in Berlin, while hundreds more rallied in Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Munich, and Hamburg.

Footage from the video agency Ruptly showed crowds marching through Hamburg carrying banners reading “We won’t fight in your wars,” “Education instead of bombs,” “Not our war” and “Russia is not our enemy.”

Some protesters also targeted Chancellor Friedrich Merz, with banners reading “No Merz, no war, no billionaires!”

“I don’t want to see my child sent off to war by politicians like the ones we currently have in Germany,” one protester told Ruptly. She said she was “more afraid of [European Commission President] Ursula von der Leyen, Merz… than of any Russian president.”

A student described the reform as a “form of war preparation,” arguing that young people could eventually be forced “to shoot at young people… for the interests that aren’t ours… but the interests of profit-hungry arms corporations and politicians.”

Germany’s Military Service Modernization Act, which took effect in January, requires 18-year-old men to complete a questionnaire on their willingness and suitability for military service. Mandatory medical examinations for men born in 2008 or later are due to begin in July 2027. Service remains voluntary, but parliament can activate compulsory military service if recruitment targets are not met or the security situation deteriorates.

The government aims to expand the Bundeswehr to more than 260,000 active troops and 200,000 reservists by 2035, citing Germany’s NATO commitments and what it describes as a worsening security environment in Europe.

Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has previously warned that Germany must be prepared for a potential conflict with Russia. Moscow has repeatedly rejected claims that it intends to attack NATO countries, describing them as “nonsense.”

Next war will be fought in Arctic – America and Europe will be enemies

The next war will be fought here. America and Europe will be enemies

By Ksenia Smertina

26 Sep, 2026

This September, the Arctic quietly widened the rift between presumed transatlantic allies. Brussels’ attempts to mitigate growing US influence in the region have so far been unsystematic but intense. The Arctic Summit held in Finnish Lapland and the subsequent EU-Canada talks, where European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen proposed granting Ottawa associate member status, should be viewed in the context of the new agreement between the US and Greenland.

The EU is using its usual competitive methods in the polar race, plunging into a de facto confrontation with the US. An alternative to this could have been attempts to find its own legitimate place among the major players; however, the window of opportunity for such initiatives has closed, which leaves the space no alternatives other than the prospects of a hybrid war in which Brussels and Washington are rivals.

The EU’s familiar patterns beyond the Arctic Circle

Twelve EU countries and the bloc’s leadership attended the Arctic Summit in Lapland this month, where they agreed upon a radical securitization of polar policy, officially recognizing the region as a “geopolitical hotspot.”

To understand the specifics of the bloc’s Arctic ambitions, it’s important to note that the union’s members lack any significant infrastructure of their own on the polar map. In the wake of Brexit, the EU no longer has its own sovereign Arctic borders directly connected to the Arctic Ocean. Norway and Iceland remain outside the union, Greenland remains an autonomous Danish overseas territory, and Finland and Sweden are geographically cut off from the ocean. Moreover, the EU as a single bloc completely lacks its own Arctic icebreaker fleet – the few national vessels of the Scandinavian countries are incapable of ensuring true strategic dominance.

Lacking either geographical rights or military hardware, Brussels has reduced its Arctic strategy solely to environmental concerns, climate monitoring, and the protection of indigenous peoples. In 2008, the EU formally designated the Arctic as a zone of its strategic interests, and in 2016 and 2021, key EU Arctic strategies were adopted.

This approach began to change in 2022–2025, when, against the backdrop of a rapidly shifting geopolitical situation in the world, US claims to Greenland triggered the performative landing of European troops on the island. The Arctic Summit in Rovaniemi this month, which was informal in nature, confirmed the shift in the focus of the EU’s interests.

The final agreement formalized the shift from an environmental agenda to a “hard power” strategy: the parties pledged to sharply increase investment in military mobility, satellite surveillance, and cross-border infrastructure in the north, as well as coordinate the blocking of Russia’s “shadow fleet” under the pretext of environmental protection. These decisions, reinforced by the leaders’ demonstrative visit to the Finnish Lapland Air Wing military airbase, formed the basis of the new EU Arctic Strategy, which Foreign Minister Kaja Kallas promised to present in October 2026.

After the summit, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen went on to invite Canada to become an associate member of the EU in the context of trade and tariff disagreements between Ottawa and Washington. The mere suggestion of such an alliance has maximized the politicization of the Arctic agenda, making the outcome highly unpredictable.

It’s worth noting that Brussels’ aspirations for leadership are always specific. It’s enough to recall Francois Duchene’s concepts of “civic” power and Jan Manners’ idea of “normative” power, which explain that Brussels projects its influence on the international stage through its economic model, diplomacy, and the export of legal and ethical standards. This approach has been further developed by Mark Leonard, who called the EU an expanding “invisible empire” and argued that the EU’s influence is based on the mechanism of attracting and integrating its neighbors, and Ana Bradford, who described the phenomenon of the “Brussels effect” – a mechanism by which the EU’s vast internal market allows it to unilaterally dictate regulatory rules to transnational corporations and governments around the world.

It is precisely in this vein that we should understand what is happening. Brussels is employing its standard, decades-old methods of supranational control. Unable to compete in the realm of real icebreaker technology and innovative logistics, the EU is attempting to redirect the race to its familiar channel of bureaucratic regulations, climate quotas, and virtual budget allocations, all while cloaking it in the most anti-Russian, defensive rhetoric possible.

Its urgent proposal to pursue a “unique” alliance with Canada is a classic attempt at normatively co-opting another country’s sovereignty. Brussels seeks to act as an “environmental and technological sponsor” and thus gain access to Canadian resources, thereby legitimizing its presence in the high north through the use of foreign geography.

It is for this reason that seemingly unrelated countries, including some of Moscow’s most committed foes, were invited to the summit in Lapland: a crowd had to be assembled to give the story a larger scope. It included Mediterranean Greece and Black Sea Romania, as well as the Baltic states, which were simply counting on participating in the new EU “polar” grants.

Why doesn’t this work?

Until recently, European activity has served as a mere backdrop for US policy in the Arctic. Washington has spent decades building an Arctic empire of steel, radar arrays, and military bases, relying on a strategy of strict deterrence. In Alaska, the US has deployed a powerful air force hub of fifth-generation F-35 and F-22 fighter jets, and American nuclear submarines have learned to maneuver under the ice. In September 2026, the White House and Ottawa began the practical phase of deploying Arctic Over-the-Horizon Radars (A-OTHR) as part of the modernization of NORAD, which will allow US command to monitor airspace all the way to the Arctic Circle in real time.

At the same time, Washington is accelerating the elimination of its main vulnerability – its backlog of icebreakers: the Bollinger shipyards are assembling the first heavy polar ship in half a century, the USCGC Polar Sentinel. Washington’s plans by 2030 include the launch of two more heavy icebreakers and the construction of the deep-water military port of Nome near the Bering Strait. Furthermore, active lobbying is underway to promote the concept of “freedom of navigation” to allow unimpeded passage through the Northwest Passage, significantly shortening the sea route from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean.

The US’s greatest geopolitical victory, however, was the signing of a trilateral agreement with Denmark and Greenland in September. Under the agreement, the Pentagon takes permanent military control of Greenland’s security, urgently reopening the bases in Narsarsuaq and Mestersvig and expanding and modernizing the Pituffik air force base in the north. This document imposed a direct veto on major investments by non-NATO and non-European countries, turning the island into a closed American bastion and blocking European businesses from accessing local rare earth metals.

In the European press, attitudes toward the trilateral defense agreement range from irony to muted relief, but the key leitmotif is the thesis of Donald Trump’s “defeat” and concessions. However, an analysis of the benefits to both sides reveals something else. The United States, having expanded its defense rights on the island and gained complete control over its economic resources, skillfully left any social obligations outside the agreement.

American strategists magnanimously left the obligation to provide benefits, subsidies, and social guarantees for the local Greenlandic population of fewer than 60,000 people out of the state budget, as it was the “sovereign right” of Copenhagen. Washington pocketed all the geostrategic and raw material dividends while shifting the maintenance of the depressed territory to weakening European taxpayers. It turns out that Trump’s European allies were willing to sign what he wanted, while publicly declaring that they had won.

This episode aptly characterizes the nature of the escalating standoff between the allies, in which the US, with its aggressiveness, puts the Europeans on the defensive, leaving them unable to maintain their positions. What makes this standoff unique is that there is no direct military clash between the US and the EU in the Arctic – they ostensibly remain NATO allies facing Russia and China. However, the region has de facto become a zone of intense geoeconomic espionage, trade wars, competition for ports, and the monopolization of polar resources, with the US securing military control of Greenland and the EU attempting to maintain its economic position through Canada and the Scandinavian countries. Interesting developments in the struggle for the Northwest Passage are likely to emerge.

The EU is extremely vulnerable in this standoff. This is due to its geographic isolation, a complete lack of hard power instruments, and a critical defense dependence on its main competitor. The attempt by European “hawks” to turn Article 42.7 of the Lisbon Treaty into a political shield and send symbolic contingents to Greenland in January turned out to be a bluff, which Donald Trump simply ignored, blackmailing countries with the threat of 25% tariffs. In the context of harsh American neo-mercantilism, under pressure from competition with China, Anu Bradford’s vaunted “Brussels effect” has collapsed: by establishing strict “green” standards at the Lapland summit, Europe had hoped to regulate the polar market. But the US, acting on the principle of “like it or not,” is hijacking the agenda, proving that in this polar race, Brussels’ old models simply will not work.

Prospects and Alternatives: Effects for Russia and China

As political scientist and Valdai Club program director Timofey Bordachev rightly notes, historical experience shows that conflicts among the Western elites have typically led to the large-scale restructuring of the international order, helping to keep the global system under the control of a narrow group of states. However, today, in the changed historical context, the results of the polar confrontation between Washington and Brussels are completely unpredictable. On the world stage, the number of sovereign players has radically expanded, and the West’s influence over them is either completely absent or negligible.

The growing transatlantic rift is opening up crucial strategic advantages for the Arctic’s major players – Moscow and Beijing. Russia is systematically developing the Northern Sea Route (NSR) as a key, protected, year-round global artery. While Washington is still attempting to complete its first heavy icebreaker in half a century, Russia possesses the world’s only and absolutely unparalleled nuclear icebreaker fleet.

For China, Brussels’ polar impasse serves as a direct call to action. Under American pressure, Beijing is pushing forward with its “Ice Silk Road” doctrine. Chinese businesses are freely redirecting investments into Russia’s Arctic LNG megaprojects, bypassing vulnerable southern routes. The EU states, having maneuvered but failed to escape American traps, are leaving the region with nothing, cementing the absolute geopolitical dominance of Moscow and Beijing in the ice.

Iranian flights to East Asia, Turkiye ongoing despite US-led air blockade

The Cradle

SEP 26, 2026

Iraq is seeking an exemption from the air blockade in order to resume humanitarian flights to Iran.

Flights from Tehran to Turkiye and several Asian countries continue despite US sanctions on Iranian airlines, the CEO of Imam Khomeini International Airport’s operating company announced on 26 September.

Ramin Kashef-Azar told Tasnim News Agency that Iranian flights to Turkiye, China, Malaysia, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Pakistan are “still operating.”

He added that, beyond the routes already canceled, including those to the UAE, Iraq, and Georgia, no other country has announced new restrictions on Iranian flights.

Kashef-Azar also told Fars News Agency that services to East Asia have seen no cancellations.

Iranian aviation officials are negotiating with the countries concerned to restore the suspended routes, he said. All other arrivals and departures at the Tehran airport are running as normal.

On Saturday, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi’s office said that the government has asked Washington to exempt some airports from US Treasury sanctions on Iranian airlines.

Zaidi’s office said the exemption would allow flights to Iran to resume for medical treatment, education, religious visits, and other civilian needs.

Najaf International Airport halted all flights to and from Iran from 25 September until further notice, citing directives from the relevant official authorities.

The Iranian consulate in Najaf condemned the closure on X, protesting that the airport serving the shrine of the first Shiite imam had been shut to “the largest Shiite country in the world.”

Erbil and Sulaymaniyah airports had already halted all flights to and from Iran, joining Baghdad International Airport, which had suspended flights earlier

Several Iraqi official bodies and factions condemned the decision to close the country’s airports to Iranian aviation, calling it a mistake, urging the government to reverse it, and insisting that Baghdad must refuse to bow to US dictates.

The closures are part of a wider US campaign to cut Iran off from its remaining trade partners by pushing them to sever banking and aviation ties with Tehran.

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that US Treasury official Jonathan Burke had traveled across West Asia and Europe, threatening governments to choose between trading with Iran and keeping their ties with Washington.

According to WSJ, US officials have contacted more than 50 countries, and the economic strangulation campaign has already led to flight bans, banking restrictions, and deeper isolation for Iran.

Oman and the UAE have banned all Iranian airlines, while Turkiye canceled Mahan Air flights and revoked the license of Bank Mellat, and the UAE barred local branches of Bank Melli Iran from conducting Iran-related transactions.

Trial of Accused Tupac Shakur Murderer Brings to Light Police Coverup

(Covert Action Magazine) On August 31, Duane “Keffe D” Davis was convicted of first-degree murder for his role in the death of famed rapper Tupac Shakur 30 years earlier.

Prosecutors argued that Davis and his nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, “went hunting” for Shakur after Anderson was in a fight with him and his entourage at the MGM Grand following a Mike Tyson boxing match, Chief Deputy District Attorney Binu Palal said.

According to Palal, Davis led the charge through his role as a “shot caller” for the Southside Compton Crips and, ultimately, was driven by self-interest in his statements.

The defense countered by saying that the evidence tying Davis to Tupac’s killing was inconclusive and that the prosecution had not presented documentation to show that Davis was even in Las Vegas at that time.

Evidently the jury did not believe this. But regardless of whether Davis was involved in the murder in some capacity, he is a small fish compared to some of the big players who were involved in Tupac’s murder, which appears to have been orchestrated at higher levels.

Like other Black artists, Tupac was a target of offshoots of the FBI’s COINTELPRO operation.

He came from a radical family linked to the Black Power Movement and was considered a threat to revitalize the spirit of that movement, especially because his rap songs adopted subversive anti-establishment messaging.

The FBI, at the behest of ruling U.S. elites, deliberately provoked internecine conflict among Black rappers and groups that, if united, could have potentially mobilized Black youth in a political direction and away from the gang violence that has helped to devastate the Black community along with neo-liberal economic policies that have affected them disproportionately, racialized policing and the War on Drugs, which has spawned a new Jim Crow.

Tupac himself had expressed admiration for the Black Panther Party—the central target of COINTELPRO in the 1960s and early 1970s, and believed that he was a target of COINTELPRO.

Short for Counter-Intelligence Program, COINTELPRO was an FBI program instituted in the 1950s to covertly disrupt radical political organizations in the United States. The program is also known to have targeted artists and musicians, as well as non-violent political dissidents.

In former Black Panther Lee Lew Lee’s 1996 film All Power to the People: The Black Panther Party and Beyond, FBI agent whistleblower Wes Swearingen, CIA whistleblower Phil Agee, and former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark detailed how U.S. intelligence operations such as the FBI’s CounterIntelligence Program, murderously targeted The Black Panther Party (excerpted in Drugs as Weapons Against Us 1:00:30- 1:57).

Agent Swearingen stated fellow agents told him that their FBI CounterIntelligence (COINTELPRO) was “officially” closed in 1971 but these activities continued at least until 1995, under different names. These activities in turn are thought to be connected to Shakur’s 1996 death.[1]

According to U.S. intelligence researcher John Judge, “there’s quite a bit of evidence that has come out over the years about the surveillance of [Shakur]. Apparently there were people that were surveilling him at the time of his murder that were never questioned by police.”

U.S. Intelligence and the Black Panther Shakur Family

Tupac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, was a section leader of the Harlem Black Panthers, and his stepfather, Dr. Mutulu Shakur (Jeral Wayne Williams), was a founding member of the Republic of New Afrika.

U.S. intelligence unsuccessfully tried to frame Afeni as part of the New York Panther 21, a group of Panthers who were accused of targeting New York police officers and planning terrorist acts. Dr. Shakur was imprisoned for decades, on charges of conspiring to rob a bank (1981 Brinks robbery) and for breaking Assata Shakur from prison.

Tupac’s “Auntie Assata” was imprisoned for purportedly shooting a police officer, while his godfather, Geronimo (Ji-Jaga) Pratt, led the Los Angeles Black Panthers and was falsely imprisoned for decades.

Police shot at Assata while she had her hands raised and shot at Geronimo’s bed as, fortunately, he was sleeping on the floor due to a bad back caused by a Vietnam War injury.

After activists stole documents from an FBI office in 1971, they found that the FBI orchestrated most of these attacks on Black Panthers like Assata and many others under COINTELPRO.

Police Attempted to Murder Tupac Before: Oakland in 1991 and Atlanta in 1993

The New Afrikan Panthers, active in nearly a dozen cities, elected Tupac Shakur as their National Chairman in 1989. Tupac’s music celebrated blackness and gave voice to the frustrations and disillusionment so many black youth faced with the prevailing political-economic system while provoking empathy for the system’s victims.

Tupac continued his activism with his imprisoned stepfather Mutulu Shakur and his Black Panther extended family by helping to spread a truce between the Bloods and Crips gangs from a few areas around Los Angeles to across the country.

There were at least four attempts on Tupac Shakur’s life with police foul play involved before he was murdered at the age of 25 in September 1996.

Several days after MTV released the political song “Trapped” from his solo debut CD in 1991, Oakland police stopped him purportedly for jay-walking, pounded his head against the curb and choked him into unconsciousness.

In Atlanta, Georgia, in 1993, two allegedly off-duty police officers shot at Tupac with a gun they had stolen from an evidence locker.

LA Police Detective: Police Killed Rapper Biggie to Cover up Their Murder of Tupac

An assailant fatally shot Tupac Shakur from another car in Las Vegas after a Mike Tyson heavyweight championship boxing match on September 7, 1996.

Six months later, a gunman fatally shot Tupac’s former friend and fellow top rapper Christopher “Biggie/Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace in Los Angeles.

After Biggie’s murder, Los Angeles Police Detective Russell Poole said that he found out that his fellow police officers murdered Biggie to distract from their murder of Tupac, trying to make it look like a rap rivalry.[2]

Detective Poole found dozens of his fellow police officers at all levels of Tupac’s last record company, Death Row Records.

When Detective Poole asked his superiors what all those LA officers were doing there, they told him you can call them “trouble shooters or covert agents.”[3]

Tupac Trial Widens Audience for Assertion That Police Killed Tupac

The Clark County (Nevada) District Attorney charged a Crips gang leader from Compton, California, Duane “Keffe D” Davis, with orchestrating Tupac’s 1996 murder in Las Vegas. Davis was tried and convicted in August 2026.

In the trial, prosecutors relied heavily on a 2008 FBI task force that included ATF, DEA, and LA police set up to investigate Biggie’s murder after Biggie’s mother filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the LAPD estimating up to $500 million in losses.

FBI Task Force member Detective Daryn Dupree said they set up Davis with a gallon of PCP and a kilo of cocaine to get Davis to talk to them so, facing life imprisonment in 2008, Davis discussed Tupac’s murder with the promise (“proffer agreement”) of the drug charges being dropped and Davis supposedly receiving immunity from charges related to the Tupac case.

Davis told LA police officer Greg Kading and other Task Force members that he orchestrated Tupac’s murder, with his now-dead nephew, Orlando Anderson, firing the fatal gunshots from a car occupied by Davis and two others.

In the proffer agreement, Davis said he did that in retaliation for Suge Knight, Tupac, and some Bloods gang members attacking Orlando Anderson in the MGM hotel lobby just after the Mike Tyson boxing match.

The prosecution at the Davis trial presented this as normal gang retaliation behavior, but Compton gang unit police officer Robert Ladd said he had no evidence that Davis ever orchestrated a murder before or after Tupac’s murder.

Officer Ladd also confirmed there was no evidence that the Bloods ever tried to retaliate against Orlando Anderson, Davis, or the other two gang members purported to be in the assailant’s car.

At Davis’s trial, former FBI Agent Wade Lee said that Davis told him in 1998 that he believed Compton police officers murdered Tupac.

Agent Lee confirmed that he made no attempt to investigate those assertions.

CNN legal analyst Joey Jackson said that, with Davis’s contradictory statement in 1998, facing life imprisonment in 2008, “he’d likely tell you anything to” get out of that drug conviction and, thus, the prosecution’s case is weak unless “you have an independent corroborating witness who puts [Davis] there.”

Biggie and his rap producer Sean “P-Diddy” Combs’ top bodyguard, New York State Parole Officer Gene Deal, said that FBI Agent Phil Carson said the FBI Task Force gave “Keffe” Davis a script to read at their proffer agreement meeting.[4]

New Zealand agrees to put almost $24 million into military satellite US is building

26 Sept 2026

RNZ Phil Pennington

New Zealand has agreed to put almost $24 million into a military satellite the United States is building.

It is one of 10 international partners helping expand the Pentagon’s 11-strong Wideband Global SATCOM network (WGS).

The 12th satellite is scheduled for launch in 2028 at the earliest at a total cost of over half a billion dollars.

Like the 11th satellite, it will have tech that protects “communications for tactical warfighters operating in close proximity to jammers”, said the US Space Force.

The NZ Defence Force said maintaining the network allows it to receive the military communication capacity it needs.

“In exchange for financial contributions, partners continue to receive a proportional allocation of bandwidth from the WGS constellation.”

The $23.7m spend is split over two years.

Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland and the UK are putting money in.

NZ earlier put $15m towards WGS-11. It had been due for launch this year but been pushed back to next. The 12th had been due to launch next year but been pushed back.

The US Space Force said its international partnerships were “one of our greatest strategic advantages”.

“This agreement demonstrates that when we invest together in shared capabilities, we realize a level of global coverage and mission assurance that no single nation could achieve alone.”

In New Zealand, the government and the military are on track to spend more on space-related defence capabilities.

The NZDF has long said that “if our satellite communications become unavailable, NZDF’s military capability will be severely diminished” and that it had been working since at least 2014 to diversify communication channels.

Another initiative is a national space mission to put up the country’s first sovereign satellite, though how far advanced plans are for that is unclear.

Internationally, New Zealand is in an elite US-led group Operation Olympic Defender that has been working on a joint plan for how to protect and defend space assets from threats that should be done by the end of the year, Space Force said earlier.

Work was going on to determine how to “challenge the posture” of would-be adversaries viewed as threatening the peaceful use of space.

Macron to send French troops to Saudi Arabia

Macron to send French troops to Saudi Arabia

RT

25 Sep, 2026 23:12

France will deploy troops, radar, and air-defense systems to Saudi Arabia to protect a key Red Sea oil hub as Riyadh struggles to contain escalating Houthi missile and drone attacks, President Emmanuel Macron has announced.

Macron said French forces will not join the fighting but will merely protect the strategic energy facility under an agreement with Riyadh. The announcement came hours after the Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted six ballistic missiles heading toward Taif, which hosts a key Saudi air base, and the strategic port city of Yanbu.

“We are going to send military resources, that is to say, soldiers, radar systems, and defense systems, to protect the site of Yanbu,” Macron told TF1 and France 2 on Thursday.

Macron said the Yanbu hub, which handles several million barrels of oil, was “very badly damaged” in previous attacks. The Red Sea port has become increasingly important for Saudi exports as the US-Iran war severely restricts tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

The Houthis said on Thursday that they launched missile and drone strikes against several “sensitive targets” in the kingdom, specifically naming Saudi Aramco infrastructure in Yanbu. A Greek-operated Patriot battery already deployed in Saudi Arabia also intercepted a ballistic missile and a drone in the wider Yanbu area on Thursday, according to Reuters.

The Houthis have framed their campaign as a fight to drive Saudi-backed government forces out of Yemen, end Riyadh’s blockade, and restore the country’s sovereignty, warning foreign powers against joining the Saudi campaign.

France is the latest country Riyadh has turned to for military assistance after Washington stopped short of a direct intervention sought by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Earlier this month, the Saudi leader asked US President Donald Trump to order strikes against the Houthis, but Trump reportedly refused.

Trump later noted that the Houthis are “letting most ships go through” the Red Sea and are focused on “just one country.” The US instead offered intelligence sharing and targeting assistance, while US forces remain focused on Iran.

Riyadh has sought additional support from France, Britain, Pakistan, and Egypt as its stocks of missile interceptors come under pressure.

Britain has already agreed to deploy an RAF Voyager tanker to provide air-to-air refueling for Saudi operations, adding to UK air-defense equipment and personnel already stationed in the kingdom. Pakistan, which has a mutual-defense agreement with Saudi Arabia, has pledged to defend the kingdom “to any extent,” although Islamabad has not announced a new combat deployment.

Egypt has offered Riyadh “unwavering” political support but has not announced military assistance. Italy also maintains an air-defense mission in Saudi Arabia; an Italian Eurofighter stationed at King Fahd Air Base was damaged during a Houthi attack last week.

The renewed Saudi appeals come as the Houthis make major territorial gains along Yemen’s Red Sea coast, seizing Mokha and strategic islands around the Bab al-Mandeb Strait. The group has also targeted Saudi oil infrastructure and shipping while demanding an end to the Saudi blockade of Yemen.

The fighting threatens Saudi Arabia from both sides of the Arabian Peninsula: Iran has severely disrupted the kingdom’s traditional export route through Hormuz, while the Houthi advance and attacks are putting pressure on its alternative Red Sea corridor through Yanbu and Bab al-Mandeb.

EU sounds alarm over Trump diesel ban threat

EU sounds alarm over Trump diesel ban threat

RT

25 Sep, 2026

The bloc has already been grappling with tight supplies, with Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries adding to the pressure

A US ban on diesel exports could squeeze the EU’s energy market, which is already strained by reduced Russian supplies due to sanctions and disruptions in flows from the Middle East, officials in Brussels have warned.

European Commission spokesman Olof Gill told Politico on Thursday that Brussels was concerned by reports that Washington could halt diesel exports for 90 days, warning that any disruption “would risk negatively impacting both sides.”

The US has supplied about a third of Europe’s diesel imports this year, with its share rising to around half in August, according to government data. Prices at the pump have already reached record highs in Germany and the Netherlands.

Commission spokeswoman Anna-Kaisa Itkonen said Brussels was monitoring the markets and security of supply “very, very closely,” noting that the US was a “major supplier” of both diesel and liquefied natural gas as part of the bloc’s “diversification strategy since 2022.”

Trump backed the idea of restricting exports on Tuesday as US diesel prices hit a record $6.52 a gallon ($1.72 per liter). “I’ve said let’s not send out the diesel,” he told reporters ahead of a meeting with Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky.

Trump has also repeatedly urged Zelensky to halt Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries, saying the attacks were contributing to a global diesel shortage.

The issue was raised during talks between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in New York on Wednesday. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Lavrov said Ukrainian attacks on energy and cross-border infrastructure were deliberately contributing to instability in global energy markets.

Russia has also restricted fuel exports to stabilize its domestic market. The measures run through January, although direct producers have been permitted to export diesel, marine fuel and gasoline since September.

Supplies have also been squeezed by the US-Israeli war on Iran, which has severely disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a route that normally carries around a fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas shipments. Gulf diesel and gasoline exports fell to just over a quarter of pre-war levels in August, according to the International Energy Agency.

The EU has sharply reduced purchases of Russian energy since the 2022 escalation of the Ukraine conflict. Russia’s share of the bloc’s gas imports plunged from 45% to 12% by 2025, while its share of oil imports dropped from 27% to about 2%.

Moscow has blamed the EU’s decision to cut Russian energy imports as a key factor behind the crisis. Kremlin envoy Kirill Dmitriev said last week that Europe was facing “the worst energy crisis in history,” describing the situation as “self-made.”
