EU looks to impose travel ban on Tucker Carlson following his interview with Putin

Putin has heavily limited his contact with international media since he launched the war in Ukraine in February 2022

Controversial talk show host Tucker Carlson could be subjected to sanctions from the European Union due to his activities in Russia, a new report says.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has been interviewed by Carlson, the Kremlin confirmed Wednesday. It is Putin’s first interview to a Western journalist since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine two years ago.

Carlson released a video from Moscow on Tuesday in which he said he would be interviewing Putin, less than 24 hours later, the Kremlin confirmed the sit-down took place.

Former Belgian Prime Minister and current member of the European Union Parliament Guy Verhofstadt told Newsweek as the Russian president is considered a ‘war criminal’ it’s ‘logical’ that an investigation be held into Carlson.

Verhofstadt has also called for a ‘travel ban’ against Carlson and described the host as a ‘mouthpiece’ for Donald Trump, who has long been criticized for his pro-Kremlin views.

Any investigation into Trump would be conducted by the EU’s European External Action Service, or EEAS, which is essentially the 27-nation bloc’s foreign ministry.

Putin has heavily limited his contact with international media since he launched the war in Ukraine in February 2022

Verhofstadt also tweeted: ‘The real journalists in Russia are in jail or had to flee! Carlson is Putin’s mouthpiece and an enemy of everything the US stands for – no more, no less.’

Following the publication of the interview, Carlson’s friends in the American far right chimed in.

‘The same EU globalist scum are trying to bully Elon Musk in to censorship with criminal prosecution threats. Now they are moving in on Tucker! We must stand together for free speech,’ wrote Sandy Hook school shooting denier Alex Jones.

‘The EU is considering sanctions against Tucker Carlson for interviewing Putin. This is little more than an admission that they have been lying about everything regarding Ukraine,’ wrote commentator Candace Owens.

‘This narrative is about to fully collapse and they are terrified,’ she added.

‘Was there ever any doubt they would come for Tucker Carlson to daring to interview Putin? Rest assured there are those in power in the US who want to do the same as the EU,’ columnist and attorney Phil Holloway tweeted.

Carlson claimed that Western journalists had interviewed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy multiple times but could not be ‘bothered’ to interview the Russian president.

Putin has heavily limited his contact with international media since he launched the war in Ukraine in February 2022.

Russian authorities have cracked down on media, forcing some independent Russian outlets to close, blocking others and ordering a number of foreign reporters to leave the country.

Two journalists working for U.S. news organizations — The Wall Street Journal’s Evan Gershkovich and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty’s Alsu Kurmasheva — are in jail on charges they reject.

Western journalists were invited to Putin’s annual press conference in December — the first since the war began — but only two were given the chance to ask a question.

Putin’s spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, told reporters that Carlson was chosen for the interview because ‘he has a position which differs’ from other English-language media.

Peskov also rejected Carlson’s suggestion that no Western journalists had submitted requests to interview Putin. He said the Kremlin has received many requests from large Western television channels and newspapers which, he asserted, ‘take a one-sided position.’

Carlson’s position, Peskov said, ‘is in no way pro-Russian, nor pro-Ukrainian, but rather pro-American.’

The interview with Putin, Carlson said in his video, will be distributed for free on his website and on X, formerly known as Twitter. Carlson who was fired by Fox News in April, announced he was starting his own streaming service in December.

Russian state media on Wednesday extensively covered Carlson’s visit.

Vladimir Solovyev, one of Russia’s most famous television hosts, said the interview would ‘break through the blockade and the narrative that exists’ in Western media which, he said, focuses on ‘Putin’s unprovoked, brutal invasion of Ukraine.’

Solovyev, whose show is often critical of Western media, said Carlson is ‘feared’ because he does not align with that narrative.

Tucker Carlson, Conspirator Extraordinaire

Dmitry Orlov

As I write this, we are mere hours away from a momentous occasion: the release of Tucker Carlson’s big, long and uncut interview with Vladimir Putin, for which Tucker flew to Moscow, and over which the entire US/EU corporate media establishment has had its collective panties in a bunch for days now.

Interviews with Putin are very nice, especially if they are big, long and uncut. Putin doesn’t suffer fools gladly, which is why Mickey Mouse outfits such as CNN, MSNBC and, now, Fox, are not allowed past the giant, lavishly gilt, elaborately carved doors of the Moscow Kremlin. But Tucker is no fool; he is a journalistic force to be reckoned with. Still, an interview is an interview, and Putin will most likely say what he has been saying all along, perhaps with certain elaborations and embellishments.

The more conspiratorially minded geopolitical eggheads are reading more into this than just a quick trip for the sake of getting an interview. Tucker, they say, is a secret messenger. Who from? Why, Trump, of course! Now, what would Trump want to convey to Putin?

What Trump wants is to make sure to win the presidential election this fall, and a way to do that is to make Biden look not just bad but worse than dead and just as smelly. Trump would like a massive landslide, a Republican takeover of both houses of congress and a chance to sweep all Democrats out of every single federal office.

And what Tucker may or may not want (he’s a cagey one) is a position as Trump’s vice president. Trump is old, you know, and old people, even if they are as sprightly and clear-minded as Trump is, do tend to drop dead at some point. And then it would be “Hello, President Carlson!” I bet Tucker likes the sound of that!

So the question is, What can Trump secretly offer to Putin that would make Biden look worse than a rancid donkey carcass that’s been gnawed on by some wild animals. The more conspiratorially minded geopolitical eggheads have been most obliging with a theory. Trump has a plan. In Phase I of this plan, Trump will block all aid to the Kiev regime until after the election by exercising his considerable influence over the republicans in the House of Representatives. This will leave the Ukrainian forces short of munitions and ordnance, the Kiev regime short of money, and provide an opening for the Russians to grab as much territory as they can. Over the summer, the constant media drumbeat of exotic-sounding Ukrainian regions suddenly turning Russian will do the trick, making the Ukrainian fiasco look much, much worse than the Afghanistan fiasco or the Middle Eastern fiasco.

And then, the conspiracy theory goes, once Trump, perhaps with Tucker in tow, skip and whistles back into the Oval Office, it will be time for Phase II: strike a peace deal with Putin. Russia will be graciously allowed to keep all the Ukrainian regions it manages to grab before then while US/NATO gets to keep the rest. And, this theory goes, Putin will jump at the opportunity to declare victory, make nicey-nice with the mighty US and all will be sweetness and light for Trump, who will then be able to concentrate on… Taiwan, of course.

I see just a couple of problems with this plan: one with Phase I and another with Phase II. As far as Phase I, for Putin and the Russians, the former Ukraine is more already in the bag strategically, but tactically it is a gift that keeps on giving. Why limit its use to just making Biden look like a rancid donkey carcass that’s been gnawed on by some wild animals? Why not extend the Ukraine operation by a few years, letting it bleed resources out of both the US and the EU while making Trump look like a rancid elephant carcass that’s been gnawed on by some stray dogs? After all, Russia’s strategy is to make sure that the US (along with the mini-me UK) no longer figure at all as a hegemonic power. The valuable target, for Russia, is not any particular president but the US presidency itself.

Also, Phase II is not exactly on strategy for Russia either. US and NATO had agreed, once upon a time, not to expand NATO “a single inch to the east”: that’s been fixed in writing now and the Russians won’t allow US/NATO to get away with not fulfilling this promise. And then there is the goal of Russia’s Special Military Operation in the former Ukraine: to demilitarize and denazify all of it, not just some of its regions. Lastly, the Russians see the Ukrainians as some Russians that have had their brains polluted with Western propaganda for three over decades. It is sad that so many of them — half a million or so — had to die on the battlefield. It would be even sadder if Russia has to mount some sort of blitzkrieg this summer in an effort to grab as much territory as possible before Trump gets into office and pulls the break lever on this wonderful deal.

If this is what Tucker is in Moscow to offer, I have a better plan for Russia. Putin should give vague verbal approval to Trump’s plan and perhaps even grab a couple more Ukrainian regions over the course of the summer (Odessa and Nikolaev are the big prizes strategically). But then right before the election Putin should reach out to Biden and quickly negotiate a cease fire, making it look like a major Biden victory and putting Trump’s plan in disarray. And then, once Biden is reelected, the Russians can go back to demilitarizing and denazifying at their usual snail’s pace, bleeding the US and the EU of resources and preventing the US from challenging China over Taiwan.

Of course, this is all just conspiracy theory. Tucker is just a journalist and he is in Moscow just to get a rock star interview with Putin, which Elon Musk is ready to monetize in all sorts of interesting ways. But it’s fun to think about such conspiracies, don’t you think?

French Revolution: The Republic at War

Episode 21: The Republic at War

Living the French Revolution and Age of Napoleon

Dr Suzanne M Desan

Film Review

With the king’s execution, the republican convention took over defending France against Prussian invasion. In part due to the diversion of several Prussian divisions to defend Poland against invasion of by Russia’s czarina Catherine the Great,* French soldiers now outnumbered Prussian troops by 52,000 to 34,000. With two veterans of the Seven Years War leading the French Republican army, they halted the Prussian advance on September 20, 1793 with a decisive victory at  Valmy.*

Jubilant over thwarting the Prussian invasion of France, 120,000 new volunteers joined the French army to defend the republic. The notion of a non-professional citizen soldier was a totally new phenomenon in France. Unfortunately, as two-thirds of the king’s army had fled France, they were relatively few officers left to lead them. Moreover tension between the line army and the new volunteers (in part because the latter were better paid and in part due to the incompatibility between equality and military hierarchy) made for a highly dysfunctional fight force. Many of the new troops wanted to vote on orders their officers gave them.

At the same time, good pay and high morale resulted in an increase from 130,000 to 350,000 volunteers In the 1791-93 recruitment campaign. With the adoption of conscription, by 1794 France had over a million citizens in arms (Europe’s largest army ever). Some of these troops were used in guerilla warfare to su[press counterrevolutionary activity among French peasants.

In 1792, the French army (which included several thousand Belgian revolutionaries) invaded Savoy in the kingdom of Sardinia-Piedmont, leading the French-speaking Savoy to vote to break away from the Italian kingdom of Sarndinia-Piedmont and join the French republic.

When France occupied most of Belgium a month later, the national Convention debated whether republican principles gave conquered countries had a right to keep their king. Some deputies sought to wanted to extend France’s eastern boundary to the Rhine to make it easier to defend. Although the Edict of Fraternity pledged assistance to all nations wishing to recover their sovereignty (Austria had occupied Belgium prior to the French invasion), some deputies worried an independent Belgium would be too weak to resist the Prussian army and sought to extend France’s eastern boundary to the Rhine (making it easier to defend).

By 1793, France was at war with the UK, Spain, Sardinia Piedmont, the Dutch Republic, Austria, Russia and Holy Roman Empire.

*Catherine invaded Poland to crush the constitutional monarchy the Poles established in 1791. The war would eventually divide the country into Russian and German sectors.

**The German poet Goethe, an eyewitness to the battle, declared, “On this day begins a new era in the history of the world.”

US Propaganda Machine Panicking Tucker Carlson Will Continue Objective Reporting in Russia

In this March 2, 2017 file photo, Tucker Carlson, host of Tucker Carlson Tonight, poses for photos in a Fox News Channel studio in New York - Sputnik International, 1920, 06.02.2024

John MIles

The prominent American political commentator previously claimed his efforts to interview Russian President Vladimir Putin made him a target of US government surveillance, undermining ‘official’ narratives about the “boogeyman” leader.

Maverick US journalist Tucker Carlson has raised eyebrows after being spotted in Moscow this week, with observers speculating Carlson has arrived to interview Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The popular American commentator has so far remained coy about the reasons for his visit, but he has expressed his willingness to speak with Putin in the past, allegedly making him the target of surveillance from US intelligence agencies. As Russiagaters melt down over the prospect Carlson will undermine US regime propaganda by practicing real journalism, geopolitical analyst and journalist Fiorella Isabel joined Sputnik’s The Critical Hour program Monday to discuss the situation.

“The fact that this targeting [of Carlson] is happening in the way it is happening now signifies a fear from the United States,” said Isabel. “They are fearful of a conversation that somebody like Tucker Carlson and Vladimir Putin could have because Tucker Carlson did leave Fox [News]. And since he did leave Fox, so much has happened in the world where, as you all were talking about before, there are major escalations, not only in the Asia-Pacific region, but also obviously with Iran via Israel-Palestine and via, of course, Ukraine.”

3 Shocking Truths Most People Don’t Know About Money in Bank Accounts…

Henry Ford astutely observed that a revolution would occur overnight if people truly understood the banking and monetary system.

That’s because modern banking is an elaborate illusion that deceives people into a false sense of security… until it’s too late.

Large banks can fail in hours, and life savings can evaporate overnight.

The US banking system is especially vulnerable, as the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank and other recent events have shown.

Why do so many people put their confidence and life savings into an unstable system?

I would say it’s because they do not understand three fundamental truths about modern banking.

#1. The money isn’t yours.

#2. The money isn’t actually there.

#3. The money isn’t really money.

Truth #1: The Money Isn’t Yours

Many people are surprised to learn that they don’t truly own the money in their bank account.

Once you deposit money at the bank, it’s no longer your personal property. Instead, it belongs to the bank, and they can do whatever they want with it.

What you own with a bank deposit is a promise from the bank to repay you—an IOU.

Depositing money is like making an unsecured loan to the bank, with practically no interest to compensate you for taking such a risk.

It’s a terrific deal for the bank and a terrible deal for you.

That’s why a bank deposit is very different from cash in hand. Yet the vast majority of people wrongly conflate the two.

Further, the bank can freeze “your” money by pushing a button for whatever reason they find convenient.

Perhaps you bought something the bank didn’t like or made a politically incorrect statement on social media. Then, don’t be surprised to see your account frozen or worse.

For example, PayPal recently floated the idea of charging people $2,500 for promoting so-called “misinformation.” Expect much more of this stuff in the future from banks and financial institutions.

If your money can be easily frozen or seized, it was never really yours.

Truth #2: The Money Isn’t Actually There

The money you think is in the bank isn’t actually there.

Banks don’t have physical cash reserved for you in their vault, nor do they have enough digital funds to cover all depositors.

During the Covid hysteria, the US government removed bank reserve requirements, meaning banks don’t need to hold any funds for withdrawals.

So, where does all that money go?

Unbeknownst to most depositors, banks can use “your” money to recklessly gamble on the latest investment fad. Banks are using “your” money to make bets and take risks that could render them insolvent and unable to redeem deposits.

If only a tiny fraction of depositors demanded their money back, most banks would be in big trouble because the money isn’t there.

This slimy practice is known as fractional reserve banking—and it’s totally legal. However, that doesn’t change the fraudulent nature of the activity.

Imagine any other industry using a fractional reserve system.

For example, consider a fractional reserve car dealership or jewelry store where the car salesman and jewelry store owner could create 10x more claims for cars and pieces of jewelry than what actually exists in their inventories. They would be selling claims for goods that don’t exist.

It would be clear such a practice would be fraudulent.

Modern banking resembles a Ponzi Scheme, as it relies on the false belief that people’s money is readily available when, in fact, it isn’t.

Truth #3: The Money Isn’t Really Money

Although people use currency every day, few consider what it actually is or what makes for a good money.

Asking people, “What is money?” is like asking a fish, “What is water?”

The fish probably doesn’t even notice the water unless it becomes polluted or something is wrong.

Money is a good, just like any other in an economy. And it isn’t a complex notion to grasp. It doesn’t require you to understand convoluted math formulas and complicated theories—as the gatekeepers in academia, media, and government mislead many folks into believing.

Understanding money is intuitive and straightforward. Money is simply something useful for storing and exchanging value. It’s a tool for sending value through time and space. That’s it.

Think of money as a claim on human time. It’s like stored life or energy.

Unfortunately, today, most of humanity thoughtlessly accepts whatever worthless paper or digital scrips their governments give them as money.

However, money does not need to come from the government. That’s a total misnomer that the average person has been hoodwinked into believing.

Only 3 in 10 Americans Aware of US Troops in Syria Prior to Deadly Attack

syria (orthographic projection) disputed.svg

Abel Anzalone

A recent poll of Americans found that only 30% were aware that US troops were deployed to Syria before three US soldiers were killed just across the border in Jordan. The results of the survey show Americans are generally unaware of the attacks against US forces in Syria and the reason for the deployment.

Defense Priorities commissioned YouGov to poll Americans from January 8-15 about the deployment of 900 US troops in Syria. Three in ten Americans responded that they were aware US troops were deployed to Syria. The three US soldiers killed at Tower 22 in Jordan were supporting the US base in southern Syria.

US troops in Iraq and Syria have come under attack over 160 times from Shia militias that operate in the region. The YouGov poll found only a quarter of Americans were aware of the attacks that left scores of US soldiers injured.

The Shia militias say they are targeting American soldiers occupying Iraq and Syria with drones, rockets, and missiles because of US support for the ongoing genocide Israel is conducting in Gaza. The poll found that a majority of Americans are concerned about a larger war breaking out in the region because of the US troops’ presence.

The outcome may be playing out. In response to the death of three members of the Georgia National Guard in Jordan, President Joe Biden ordered a massive bombing operation in Iraq and Syria. The White House will not rule out hitting targets inside Iran and has pledged future strikes.

President Biden has refused to reverse his unconditional support for Israel even as his approval rating has dipped. An NBC News poll released on Sunday found the President’s approval rating at the lowest of his term, 37%. Weighing on his approval is likely the war in Gaza. Only 29% of Americans approve of the way Biden has handled US support for the Israeli onslaught.

Kids in New Jersey Schools Can Win Cash Prizes by Shilling for Vaccine Makers

The “Protect Me With 3+” campaign for “educating New Jersey communities” about the “benefits” of vaccines is sponsored by the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) and the Partnership for Maternal & Child Health of Northern New Jersey.

The campaign, open to children and teens in grades 5-12, requires students to create a poster or 30-second video to “raise awareness of the importance of vaccination against one of the following vaccine-preventable diseases: Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (Tdap), Meningococcal ACWY (MenACWY), Human Papillomavirus (HPV), Flu, or COVID-19,” according to the contest’s guidelines.

“By getting vaccinated, you are protecting yourself and your family and friends,” the contest materials state. “Not vaccinating a child on time can make someone else sick, like a friend, baby, adult, grandparent, or someone unable to be vaccinated.”

Contest participants can win a $50-$175 gift card. Three teachers whose classes submit the most entries will be awarded $75 each.

An accompanying contest by the NJDOH targeting university students asks them to create content promoting vaccines with the phrase “Step Up! Vax Up!” and offers a top prize of $5,000 to the winning entry.

Some medical and legal experts said they had ethical concerns about having children participate in a contest to promote pharmaceutical products.

“This type of insidious manipulation of children for Pharma profit is cruel and inhumane,” said Brian Hooker, Ph.D., P.E., Children’s Health Defense (CHD) senior director of science and research.

“It is typical of state departments of health to lie about the safety profile of vaccines, but NJDOH takes it one step further, where these unsuspecting children will be used as minions in their dangerous campaign,” Hooker said.

New Jersey-based attorney Julio Gomez told The Defender that NJDOH has strayed from its mission — and from science. He said:

“According to its website, the primary goal of the NJDOH is to improve the well-being and quality of life for all New Jerseyans. Its work purports to include health promotion and education, and health data collection and analysis.

“In light of the vast amount of scientific evidence available today about the risks and ineffectiveness of the entire childhood vaccine program, in particular the number of children who have been injured by vaccines and compensated by the government for their proven injuries under the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, it appears clear to me from the NJDOH’s poster campaign that NJDOH has completely abandoned its mission.”

‘Recruiting children to propagandize other children’

Ann Rosen, a member of CHD’s New Jersey chapter, told The Defender that NJDOH organizes this poster contest annually. Citing the winning entries from the 2023 contest, she said, “The good intentions, talent and creativity are evident. Critical science and risk-benefit profiles are absent. And this appears to be by design.”

Rosen said the Protect Me With 3+ contest originally promoted three vaccines, but the number has since been “just growing” — resulting in “3+” being added to its name.

She said the contest is misleading and misinforming children.

“The idea of recruiting young children is really concerning, because they’re recruiting children to propagandize other children with these sorts of incentives, and they’re working off the assumption that all these things are good,” Rosen said. “They’re misinforming children about vaccines as they’re encouraging them to encourage other kids to get vaccinated.”

“These are underage children commenting on topics they are unaware about,” said Dominique Venezia, another CHD New Jersey chapter member.

Venezia said:

“It isn’t really in the purview of students to take on such a heavy topic. Having children encourage friends to participate in something that is still very new, for which we don’t know the outcome, I think that’s dangerous. I think that’s harmful to children and irresponsible.”

Vaccination ‘not a game’

The “Protect Me With 3+” contest tells students who are considering submitting an entry that, aside from the possibility of winning gift cards of up to $175, they can “Become a health messenger” among their peers and can also “enhance” their “college application and resume.”

These are “unfair incentives,” Venezia said. “Any time you attach a monetary value to something, you’re going to get somebody to participate in that. It’s definitely a push.”

She added: “This isn’t something that’s happening organically. This is not children deciding ‘health is something we have to look into and we’re going to take this on for that benefit of our community.’”

“Cash incentives are going to push them in a certain direction, and they will do anything for it, especially at such a young age,” Venezia said.

Brianne “Bri” Dressen compared the contest to “the ‘get a donut free’ type of marketing campaign” widely seen during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Making such an important decision with something being injected into your body should be managed with a bit more care than this,” she said.

Dressen, an advocate for vaccine injury victims who is co-chair of the non-profit React19 activist group, said vaccination “is not a game. It’s an important healthcare decision to make that needs to be thoroughly researched ahead of time.”

Dressen, who was injured by the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and is now suing the Biden administration and federal public health officials, said, “When those kids end up at React19 because of injuries, it’s no longer a cute little game.”

Using students ‘to create marketing ads’ for Big Pharma

The Protect Me With 3+ contest guidelines also instruct students to use only “resources” from its own website as part of the poster or video they create.

For Charlene Delfico, the New Jersey state chair for the FormerFedsGroup Freedom Foundation, a group that advocates on behalf of vaccine-injured and COVID-19 hospital protocol victims, these instructions “are a classic example of indoctrination.”

“The government is composing the phrases that they wish the students to repeat in the ‘posters’ or ‘videos,’” Delfico told The Defender. “De facto, the government is using young students as cheap labor to create marketing ads for the pharmaceutical companies.”

“Moreover, the government is using taxpayers’ dollars to create this propaganda campaign on behalf of Big Pharma,” she added.

Venezia added:

“That is not promoting any critical thinking skills or independent investigation or evaluation of any of these injections. And that’s a problem because they won’t accept your advertisement if you don’t use the ‘proper’ information that they’ve provided. It’s not encouraging free thinking or independent study. It’s exactly what it is: propaganda.”

According to Rosen, the contest instructions, along with the specific vaccines the students are being asked to promote, are “forcing kids to regurgitate” officially sanctioned information about vaccines.

“They’re training children to regurgitate things and believe they are facts when they are not scientifically viable ideas,” she said.

The website for CHD’s New Jersey chapter notes that children participating in the contest will not learn key information about the vaccines in question, such as that the Tdap vaccine “only prevents symptoms and does not prevent infection, colonization and transmission.”

“Since it eliminates symptoms without preventing infection, Tdap can create ‘silent carriers’ who can inadvertently perpetuate the spread of pertussis,” according to CHD New Jersey, citing a 2019 study that found that 82% of childhood pertussis cases identified by Kaiser Permanente California were in children who were fully vaccinated.

Rosen said she attended a recent public meeting of the Westfield Regional Board of Health in New Jersey, where people were told that the only cases of pertussis that had been reported in the state “had been in fully vaccinated people.”

Rosen told The Defender similar things can be said about the other vaccines the contest aims to promote.

“The flu shot is notoriously ineffective … it’s common knowledge now that the COVID-19 shot doesn’t stop infection or transmission,” she said. “HPV, you’re not spreading HPV at school, in a school setting, and then Tdap creates silent carriers. So, we’re not talking about campaigns of helping other people.”

In October 2023, for instance, a 12-year-old boy in France who received the Gardasil HPV vaccine at his school subsequently fainted and collapsed. He died a few days later.

Yet, according to Rosen, this has not stopped local health officials from promoting the vaccines — and using children in such campaigns.

“I’ve been attending these meetings [and] they are always trying to create some sort of campaign to involve children,” she said. “There’s a lot of missing context, there’s a lot of incentivizing. They really like to use graphics and means as a way of educating the public. Bringing kids in is ideal for this kind of propaganda.”

Campaign violates principle of informed consent

Experts also told The Defender the Protect Me With 3+ contest does not inform participants about the risk of vaccine injuries.

“The vaccines to be promoted, especially COVID-19 and HPV, have strong safety concerns and will lead to greater rates of adverse events in the children and adolescents targeted in this campaign,” Hooker said.

“None of that will be addressed by NJDOH. This flies in the face of informed consent and is absolutely shameful. I ask students and parents to avoid participating in this campaign at all costs,” Hooker added.

Gomez agreed:

“The childhood vaccine schedule demands critical scientific review and explanation by our state agency, not propaganda campaigns that recruit children who have no idea how dangerous these vaccines are, and are not capable of exercising informed consent, to cheer for medical products that have not been demonstrated to be safe or effective and have harmed and killed many of their peers.”

Delfico said that there were potential legal implications in NJDOH’s poster contest.

“There are many federal and state laws and entire governmental agencies that are charged with protecting children from such predatory marketing ploys by pharmaceutical companies,” she said. “Raising awareness with regards to vaccines benefits and risks is the job of a trained physician, not government officials.”

“The goal of increasing vaccination rates while disregarding the cost-benefit data is a blatant disregard of the health and safety of the public. Marketing pharmaceutical products directly to patients has been illegal until recent times for the very reason that patients should not be fooled by the pharmaceutical companies who are profiting from these products,” Delfico added.

‘Directly targeting children to bypass their parents’

Local activists also said they were not surprised that the state would organize such a contest.

“If you follow the NJDOH and the workings of the boards of health and a lot of the associated organizations, it’s not really surprising,” Rosen said.

According to Delfico, “The New Jersey Department of Education, in cooperation with NJDOH, used the schools as pharmaceutical COVID-19 vaccination clinics to directly reach the children and pressure them to get the vaccine by applying peer pressure and bullying tactics against those kids who did not want to get the vaccines.”

“With the rapid decline of public confidence in the medical community for misleading information on vaccines, NJDOH is directly targeting children to bypass their parents,” Delfico said. “Children are a vulnerable protected class, due to their inability to provide consent to medical procedures.”

“Using taxpayers’ funded schools as a marketing channel on behalf of pharmaceutical companies is breaking the public trust further in a display of government misconduct,” she added.

Venezia told The Defender that the NJDOH should “cease the contest and put it in the hands of professionals, not underage students and teachers,” while along similar lines, Delfico called upon the NJDOH to “stop this pharmaceutical marketing campaign disguised as a ‘contest.’”

“It is unethical. It is deceptive. It meets all the criteria for fraudulent business practices. Targeting children with pharmaceutical products should not be allowed,” she said.

Exclusive: Resistance says no deal without permanent ceasefire

By Al Mayadeen English

Sources tell Al Mayadeen that the Palestinian Resistance has received a ceasefire proposal that does not go with its vision for ending the war and would enable “Israel” to continue its hostilities.

Negotiations are taking place over a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and a complete withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces, sources told Al Mayadeen on Sunday.

The stipulations of the agreement being drawn up include the issues of the ceasefire, withdrawal, prisoner exchange, reconstruction, displaced people, the entry of aid, and the lifting of the siege imposed on Gaza.

Intelligence obtained by Al Mayadeen indicates that the Paris Agreement touched on the prisoner exchange but completely neglected the ceasefire and the withdrawal from Gaza, whereas the Resistance’s agreement highlights those issues as pivotal.

There is no clause confirming a ceasefire after the truce ends, and there are no regional or international guarantees that the Israeli occupation would not resume hostilities after it; there also are not enough details regarding the essential issues of the Resistance and Gaza in and of itself, the sources said.

The Paris Agreement also offered no guarantees about an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza as Israeli officials claim that they want to establish a buffer zone within the blockaded Strip.

“The Resistance is concerned that Israel intends to remain in Gaza and complicate the reconstruction efforts in a bid to drive a wedge between the people of Gaza and the Resistance,” one source told Al Mayadeen.

Additionally, there are apparently no solid grounds for the reconstruction effort nor the provision of temporary housing for displaced peoples amid the concerns that the Israeli occupation might seek to impede said efforts.

“Hamas is engaging in consultations with Palestinian factions and its allies from parties and regional forces,” the sources said, revealing that the agreement was brought up for discussion within the movement’s upper echelons.

It was revealed to Al Mayadeen that there would be a meeting in Cairo, Egypt, within days, which would be attended by representatives from several other countries, including Qatar.

The meeting is said to include a deep and comprehensive discussion set to be followed by Hamas’ leadership before a final response is granted.

While regional parties attempted to assure Hamas that the agreement would practically lead to a ceasefire and that the Israeli occupation could not continue the war, the Resistance underlined that it wanted genuine guarantees and mechanisms that would effectively lead to a ceasefire and the occupation’s withdrawal from Gaza and prevent the Israeli occupation from resuming hostilities.

“The Resistance cannot hand over its trump card, the military captives, without a guaranteed ceasefire, a withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces, and an agreement on reconstruction and lifting the siege,” the sources underlined.

No agreement has been reached yet: Top Palestinian Resistance official

A leading figure from the Palestinian Resistance factions said earlier in the week that no agreement around a ceasefire deal had been reached yet.

The remarks come after news outlets reported that Hamas had approved in principle the most recent ceasefire proposal made by Qatari officials. The official described the statement made by the Qatari Foreign Ministry as rushed and inaccurate.

The official explained that the party he represents had “received a message from the Hamas leadership regarding the framework paper that was presented based on the Paris meeting.”

It is worth noting that the meeting came up with a momentary ceasefire proposal, which included a three-stage prisoner exchange deal. The meeting was attended by William Burns, the Central Intelligence Agency director, and top Egyptian, Israeli, and Qatari officials.

The leading figure said, “There is no agreement on the framework yet, and Hamas has important remarks (regarding the proposal).”

Hamas officials had announced earlier that its representatives would submit a unified response in Cario, Egypt, that represents all Palestinian Resistance factions.

“To date, no delegation from the Hamas leadership has traveled to Cairo, and no date has been set for meetings yet,” the top official noted.

As reiterated on previous occasions, the official said the Paris Document is currently being studied “based on the agreed-upon national constants.”

“The priority will be for a comprehensive cessation of aggression, a complete withdrawal of occupation forces from Gaza, securing shelters for the displaced, and completing a serious exchange process,” the official explained.

He further stressed that “Zionist media outlets are dissipating fabricated and false news to stir up public opinion about the negotiations.”

Finally, the official said Egypt and Qatar have unified mediation efforts.

A Qatari official had also told Reuters, “There is no deal yet. Hamas has received the proposal positively but we are waiting for their response.”

Meanwhile, the media advisor to the head of the Hamas political bureau told Reuters that the group received the Paris truce proposal for a ceasefire and release of hostages in Gaza, but “we haven’t given a response to the Gaza truce proposal,” adding, “It is still being studied.”

“We can’t say that the current stage of negotiation is zero and at the same time we cannot say that we have reached an agreement,” Taher al-Nono said.
