~ Rev. Martin Niemoller (1892-1984)

The history of human freedom is long, tortuous and not gratifying. It consists essentially in governments trampling the laws enacted to restrain them. It is the profound clash of natural personal freedom and the commands of the state backed by force. The constitutions of totalitarian countries are papered over with restraints on the state, but the restraints are toothless. The state does what it wants. It doesn’t take rights seriously.

In liberal democracies – with the separation of powers, and checks and balances – the state is theoretically restrained. Yet often, there, too, the restraints are paper tigers. There, too, HERE, too, the state does not take rights seriously.

Thomas Jefferson argued that in the long march of history, personal liberty shrinks and state power grows. He famously believed that only a revolution can bring about a proper reset.

All of this history and theory came into sharp focus in the past two weeks when the feds arrested a Syrian graduate student in his student housing at Columbia University in New York City and shipped him to an immigration jail in Louisiana. He is married to a native-born American, they are expecting a child in April, and he is a permanent resident alien.

Last week, the federal government arrested a Lebanese physician at Logan Airport in Boston. She is a professor of medicine at Brown University, and she, too, is a permanent resident alien.

The student was charged with immigration violations. The physician was summarily deported to Paris and then to her native Lebanon.

The charging documents filed against the student allege no crime or personal misbehavior, point to no statutory violations, and offer no evidence of the student’s danger to persons or property or the government. The papers claim that Secretary of State Marco Rubio believes that this student’s presence on the Columbia campus – given his outspoken support for a Palestinian state, the existence of which has been the public policy of the U.S. for generations – is a material impediment to the execution of American foreign policy.

There are no charging papers filed against the physician, but the government leaked that when federal agents seized her mobile phone, they determined that she had been at the funeral of Hassan Nasrallah, the recently murdered head of Hezbollah. She was there along with more than one million others. When asked about this, according to the government leakers, she stated that she followed Nasrallah’s religious teachings but not his political ones.

While the physician was confined at Logan, her attorneys obtained an order from a federal judge prohibiting her deportation until a hearing could be held before him. The government ignored the order.

These two arrests implicate numerous constitutionally guaranteed rights, which are generally taken for granted here.

The first is the freedom of speech. We know from the writings of James Madison – who authored the Bill of Rights – that the Founders regarded the freedom of speech as a personal individual natural right. It is also, of course, expressly protected from government interference and reprisal in the First Amendment. The courts have ruled that it protects all persons – no matter their immigration status – who may think as they wish, say what they think, publish what they say, worship or not and associate with whomever they choose.

If the government can punish the speech it or its friends and benefactors hate and fear, then the First Amendment is useless and democracy is a sham.

Also implicated in these arrests is freedom of religion and assembly. Just as the student can make any public political statement he wishes – no matter how offensive or provocative it may be to his immediate or a distant audience – the physician can attend any funeral she wishes, can associate with any mourners of her choosing, can embrace any religion and can follow any preacher.

The whole purpose of the First Amendment is to keep the government out of the business of speech, religion and assembly. Without government fidelity to it, America is no longer a democracy but rather some form of conformist secular theocracy that rejects the basic values protected by the Constitution – and changes with every election.

Also implicated by these arrests is due process, guaranteed to all persons by the Fifth Amendment. At its rudimentary base, due process requires a fair hearing before a neutral arbiter before the government may interfere with life, liberty or property – and at which the government must prove personal fault.

In the case of the physician, the feds shipped her to Paris before the hearing could be held. In the case of the Columbia student, the feds shipped him to Louisiana, in defiance of the constitutional requirement that all persons be tried in the judicial district – in this case, New York City – in which the facts in their case took place.

What’s going on here?

In the government’s zealous enforcement of the nation’s immigration laws, it has become lawless. Every person who works for the government has taken an oath of fidelity to the Constitution. It is obvious that the feds do not take their oaths seriously. It is also obvious that the feds are breaking the laws we have hired them to enforce.

When government becomes the lawbreaker, it becomes a law unto itself – and human freedom is trampled by brute force.

This cannot go on unchecked. For whom will the government come next?

Ben Gurion Airport not safe until Israeli war on Gaza ends

A member of the Yemeni security forces brandishes a rifle as demonstrators chant during a rally in Sanaa, on March 17, 2025 (AFP)

Al Mayadeen English

Following the fourth Yemeni missile attack on Israeli targets, General Yahya Saree announced details of the operations as well as an attack targeting the US Navy in the Red Sea.

The Yemeni Armed Forces’ (YAF) spokesperson, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, said that the YAF’s Rocket Force launched a Palestine-2 hypersonic ballistic missile at the Israeli Ben Gurion Airport.

As a result, sirens blared in almost two dozen major Israeli-occupied cities, including multiple city settlements in Tel Aviv and in occupied al-Quds and Beit Shemesh.

Ben Gurion Airport is no longer safe for air traffic

Saree emphasized that Ben Gurion Airport is no longer safe for air traffic, warning that it will remain a target until the Israeli war on Gaza ends.

Earlier, the Israeli occupation’s military command said that sirens were activated late on Friday in multiple areas in central occupied Palestine following the launch of a missile from Yemen, adding that the projectile was intercepted.

Sounds of interceptor missile explosions were heard across central areas and occupied al-Quds. Israeli media reported a temporary suspension of air traffic at the main Ben Gurion Airport.

This marks the fourth time this week that Yemen has targeted central “Israel”, following a two-month pause in operations coinciding with a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, which “Israel” last week violated by resuming its war on the Palestinian enclave.

Saree announces additional attacks on US Navy

As for the ongoing confrontation at sea, Saree announced that the YAF’s Unmanned Air Force launched multiple one-way attack drones at United States Navy vessels deployed alongside the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman in the Red Sea.

These sporadic attacks come in the context of the US’s attempts to force Yemen into halting its support for the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. US aircraft, taking off from the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 8, have conducted dozens of air strikes indiscriminately targeting Yemeni civilians, civilian infrastructure, and military targets.

Yemen’s support for Palestine: Principled

Overnight on Friday, the YAF announced that they had struck an Israeli military target south of occupied Yafa using a Palestine-2 missile.

In a statement, YAF spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree confirmed that the operation successfully hit its target, noting that this was the second operation within 24 hours, following an earlier attack on Ben Gurion Airport using the same Palestine-2 hypersonic missile.

Saree emphasized that the YAF’s military operations in support of Gaza will continue regardless of the ongoing US aggression on Yemen, underscoring that these operations, along with a Yemeni blockade on Israeli navigation, will persist until the aggression against Gaza ceases and the siege is lifted.

How a war with Iran (for Israel) could crash the US economy

The Cradle

The “winds of war” are blowing toward Iran. This is the war for which Israeli donors Sheldon and Miriam Adelson, along with pro-Israel organizations such as AIPAC and the ADL, paid US President Donald Trump hundreds of millions of dollars over two election cycles.

But it’s not only the Israeli lobby banging the war drums; American Evangelicals – especially groups like “Christians United for Israel” – also support war, believing it will “save Israel” from the “Iranian menace.” Evangelical membership in the 119th Congress (2025–27) is high. War with Iran is not (yet) popular in the US, but – just as with Iraq – consent will be manufactured by Washington elites and the media.

Trump’s outreach to Russian President Vladimir Putin to resolve the Ukraine war partly aims to shift the Pentagon’s attention back to West Asia. He assumes that an early 2025 war with Iran will “save Israel” and secure his legacy, letting him focus on “America First” for the rest of his term.

But war with Iran could also backfire disastrously, sink his presidency, and derail the ambitions of 2028 Republican hopefuls like Marco Rubio and J.D. Vance. For starters, should the military campaign encounter any unforeseen backlash – which is highly likely, and the reason the Pentagon has assiduously avoided direct confrontation with Iran – the Democratic Party could retake both chambers of Congress after a US stock market crash and recession triggered by the war.

Iran’s military responses

Iranian leaders have vowed “devastating” retaliation for any attack on their soil. This would likely involve missile strikes against Israeli and US military targets – and possibly infrastructure and economic targets within the occupation state. If Israel uses tactical nuclear weapons against Iran’s nuclear facilities, Tehran will escalate further.

Whether or not nukes are used, war would shock the global economy, send oil prices soaring, and halt maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. The greatest impact will fall on countries most dependent on West Asian oil.

The US economy may be less affected in the short term. Its stock markets, already down 10 percent since Trump’s return to the White House, would decline further – but Trump is gambling that households will not feel the pain. But if the Islamic Republic launches economic warfare that “brings the war home,” political dynamics will change.

Economic warfare

Most Americans are detached from the notion and consequences of war because, since the Civil War, US wars have been fought far from its borders. Even during the World Wars, though American families faced personal loss, the nation did not endure widespread suffering – unlike Britain, which imposed food rationing from 1939 to 1954.

The “Global War on Terror” impacted some communities, but not the country. US troops often joked in Iraq: “We’re at war; America’s at the mall.” Americans kept spending and enjoying life, while Iraqis and US occupation soldiers endured the brutal costs.

Iranian leadership understands this disconnect. The US stock market is a tempting target. In 1929, at the start of the Great Depression, just 2.5 percent of Americans owned stock. Today, about 61 percent of US adults – roughly 160 million people – own shares through private accounts, pension schemes, or retirement plans.

Factoring in children in such households, roughly 200 million Americans are exposed to market fluctuations. Trillions more dollars are invested by corporations, universities, and foreign institutions. The exposure is deep.

The US economy is fragile. Mark Zandi, Moody’s chief economist, warned that the risk of recession is “uncomfortably high and rising.” On 19 March, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell kept interest rates steady, citing slowing consumer spending and growing uncertainty. Trump, fearing economic fallout, raged on Truth Social over the Fed’s refusal to cut rates. He announced retaliatory tariffs set to take effect on 2 April.

Household debt is rising – $18.04 trillion as of Q4 2024 – with increasing defaults on auto loans and credit cards. Americans, like the federal government, spend on credit. Investors borrow against their portfolios with margin loans. If stock values fall, forced selloffs to cover debts could intensify market collapse. “Margin calls” – demands for loan repayments – played a greater role in the ensuing economic turmoil than the 13 percent market drop on 28 October 1929.

The US economy is already strained, and consumers are over-leveraged. A large external shock could push it into a deep recession. Stock markets would plunge, wiping out pension savings and private wealth.

How far markets fall would depend on the force of Iran’s blow. The current 10 percent drop has already hurt. A deeper decline – say, 25 to 50 percent – would cripple the economy, spark layoffs and bankruptcies, and tighten credit. That would suppress consumer spending and crash the housing market, as in 2008.

Tehran’s targets

As Iranian leaders have often repeated, “If Iran cannot sell oil, no one will.” If US or Israeli forces strike Iranian tankers or infrastructure, Tehran is likely to target US economic interests and the oil sectors of any Persian Gulf Arab state that supports the attacks by allowing fighter jets, drones, or missiles to launch from their territories.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) may choose to strike Bahrain, which is an obvious military target since it hosts the US Naval Forces Central Command. In addition to military sites, Iran could target the Bahrain Petroleum Company’s refinery, which processes 270,000 barrels per day, along with its marine terminal and oil storage facilities.

The oil farm holds 14 million barrels – ample fuel for a dramatic strike. Iran could also destroy the King Fahd Causeway connecting Bahrain to Saudi Arabia to prevent Riyadh from sending ground troops to suppress unrest among Bahrain’s majority Shia population, as it did during the 2011 uprising.

In Iraq, too, US military bases will almost certainly come under fire. Beyond that, Iran-aligned factions within the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) may attempt to capture the 2,500 US troops still stationed there – not to kill them, but to take them as hostages.

Living captives would be far more valuable, creating a nightmare scenario for Trump and serving as a sharp reminder to Americans – who often forget the wars they once supported – that US troops remain in Iraq more than two decades after the 2003 invasion. These POWs would likely be scattered across the country, making coordinated rescue missions difficult and turning them into bargaining chips in any future negotiations.

Jordan, having allowed Israeli overflights last year in October during Iran’s retaliatory strikes and before that in April, is likely to do so again and could face significant retaliation. In addition to the Zarqa oil refinery, Iranian forces might strike political, military, and intelligence targets. Such attacks would certainly provoke unrest among Jordan’s population, the majority of whom are of Palestinian descent and already harbor grievances against their leadership for its collusion with Tel Aviv.

The UAE, if complicit in the attacks, could face military strikes on its energy infrastructure and power plants, as it experienced during its war with Yemen. The Emirates is particularly vulnerable due to its demographic makeup – about 88 percent of its population consists of foreign workers. If those workers flee following targeted attacks, the country’s economy would be brought to its knees.

Qatar and Oman are likely to be treated differently. Muscat, with its long-standing neutral foreign policy in the region, has maintained warm relations with Iran, and will not likely participate in a US military aggression. Doha also enjoys relatively good relations with Tehran, though it hosts the US Central Command’s (CENTCOM) Al-Udeid Air Base and worked to thwart Iranian interests in Syria. Iran might strike CENTCOM’s headquarters in West Asia, but is unlikely to target other Qatari assets.

Saudi Arabia presents a more complex scenario. Although both Russia and China have encouraged reconciliation between Iran and Saudi Arabia, the kingdom may not remain on the sidelines. If it does participate in hostilities, it would become a high-priority target.

Even if Riyadh stays neutral, Iran might still strike its East–West oil pipeline, which terminates at the port of Yanbu. That pipeline – built in 1982 to bypass the Persian Gulf – delivers over three million barrels per day to Europe.

Yanbu’s port, refinery, and export terminals, some of which are operated in partnership with western firms, would be natural targets. A simultaneous closure of the Strait of Hormuz and disruption of Red Sea traffic would block the export of roughly five million barrels per day. While former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter predicted oil prices could surge to $120 per barrel, Iran might be capable of pushing them as high as $200.

China, when retaliating against Trump’s tariffs, acted strategically. It imports just 7 percent of its pork from the US, but most pork producers are in Republican “red states.” Targeting that sector hurt Trump’s base directly.

While spiking oil prices and global economic turmoil would harm Iran’s allies and the Global South, Iran’s adversaries in the US, UK, Israel, and EU stand to lose the most. If Iran wages a smart economic war, even Evangelicals may start caring more about their grocery bills than hastening the reconstruction of the “Third Temple” and other end-times prophecies.

RFK Jr exposes how deep state actors could risk a new pandemic with a ‘leaky vaccine’

Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr (pictured here) warned against using a 'leaky vaccine' to prevent the spread of bird flu

By EMILY JOSHU STERNE HEALTH REPORTER FOR DAILYMAIL.COM and LUKE ANDREWS SENIOR HEALTH REPORTER FOR DAILYMAIL.COM

Robert F Kennedy Jr is warning against vaccinating chickens against bird flu over fears a ‘leaky’ vaccine could create a deadly new strain of the virus.

The newly-appointed health secretary said if a bird flu vaccine can’t completely protect against infection, it could spur new mutations that could spread to humans.

RFK Jr said ‘all of [his] agencies’ – the FDA, CDC, and National Institutes of Health, among others – ‘advise against vaccination of birds.’

‘If you vaccinate with a leaky vaccine, in other words a vaccine that does not provide sterilizing immunity, that does not absolutely protect against the disease. You turn those flocks into mutation factories.

‘It’s much more likely to jump to animals if you do that.’

The grave warnings come after the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced a $100million project on vaccine research to combat bird flu, which has spread to 12,500 birds and nearly 1,000 dairy herds during the current outbreak.

Additionally, 70 Americans have been struck by the H5N1 bird flu strain and one has died.

Rather than vaccines, RFK Jr instead suggested farmers ‘should consider the maybe the possibility of letting [H5N1] run through the flock so that we can identify the birds, and preserve the birds, that are immune to it’ rather than culling birds, pointing to egg shortages.

Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr (pictured here) warned against using a ‘leaky vaccine’ to prevent the spread of bird flu

RFK Jr suggested letting bird flu, also known as H5N1, ‘run through’ farms ‘so that we can identify the birds, and preserve the birds, that are immune to it’

While some evidence has backed up RFK Jr’s ‘leaky vaccine’ theory in poultry diseases like Marek’s disease, experts also told DailyMail.com that while a vaccine will never completely eliminate H5N1, it could still help reduce transmission.

They also warned letting H5N1 spread throughout farms is ‘scientifically unsound’ and allowing widespread infection would increase the risk of mutations that could spread to humans.

Dr Paul Offit, a top infectious disease specialist in Philadelphia, told DailyMail.com: ‘Leaky vaccine is an imprecise word. What he means is that he is trying to get a vaccine that completely eliminates flu transmission between chickens.

‘That is just not going to happen because the virus has such a short incubation period, making it great at transmission.

‘These vaccines are imperfect, like with the flu vaccine that we give every year [in humans] — that provides 60 to 65 percent protection against severe disease.

‘I think as a general rule, the less a virus is circulating the less likely we are going to get worrying mutations.’

When poultry flocks become infected with bird flu, the birds are culled to keep the disease from spreading.

Since 2022, 166million birds have been culled across the country.

However, this practice has resulted in rising egg prices and shortages.

RFK Jr said in an interview with Fox News: ‘Most of our scientists are against the culling operation. They think that we should be testing therapeutics on those flocks. They should isolate.

‘You should let the disease go with them and identify the birds that survive, which are the birds that probably have a genetic inclination for immunity.

‘And those should be the birds that we breed, like the wild population.

‘We’ve killed 166million chickens. That’s why we have an egg crisis.’

Trump-appointed Secretary of Agriculture Brook Rollins has also voiced support for this strategy, telling Fox News last month: ‘There are some farmers that are out there that are willing to really try this on a pilot as we build the safe perimeter around them to see if there is a way forward with immunity.’

The above map shows the human cases of bird flu reported in the current outbreak. According to the latest CDC data, 70 humans have been infected to far. There has been one death

The above shows workers in the Eden Valley, Minnesota, in 2015. They were responding to a bird flu outbreak at a poultry farm

Dr Jessica Steier, a public health scientist in Massachusetts, wrote on Instagram: ‘The “let it rip” approach to H5N1 bird flu management proposed by RFK Jnr is scientifically unsound because the virus kills infected chickens too quickly for them to develop resistance or survive infection.

‘[But] allowing widespread infection would increase mutation risk and potentially create more dangeous variants that could affect humans.’

Some evidence supports RFK Jr’s opposition to a bird flu vaccine for poultry.

In the 1970s, scientists developed a vaccine for Marek’s disease, a highly contagious virus that when infected birds shed the virus from their feather follicles. It’s then inhaled with dust by other chickens.

While the virus was gradually brought under control, within 10 years, it started mutating into more virulent strains.

A 2015 paper argued unvaccinated birds were killed by the more virulent strains so quickly that they shed very little of the virus, whereas vaccinated birds with the same strains shed more of it than those with the least virulent strain.

This suggested the vaccine caused more severe strains to spread.

An Unholdy Triad The Birth of a Plague Episode 3

An Unholy Triad Birth of a Plague Episode 3

Pure Media Australia (2025)

Film Review

This episode continues by explaining the function of some of the more deadly genes inserted into bat coronavirus to create Covid 19. It also explains how a lab researcher uncovered the specific genetic manipulations revealed in this series by unscrambling a PLA document (Project Labor Agreement) written in a complex code.

ORF19 (inserted into bat coronavirus at Wuhan Institute of Virology between 1999-2005) – significantly amplifies viral replication.

ORF29 (inserted at Wuhan Institute of Virology) – massively increases the body’s inflammatory response, which is likely cause of long Covid. It’s associated with a “furan cleavage site” at the S1/S2 junction of the spike protein, which cause thea gene to be activated by host enzymes. It incorporates a rare CGG CGG codon that encodes for arginine, an anomaly never found in nature (only in labs). This information is confirmed by other research see Probable human origin of the SARS-CoV-2 polybasic furin cleavage motif

PCSK9 cleavage – associated with blood vessel inflammation

HIV sequences – genetic sequences extracted from the HIV retrovirus to evade immune detection.

Trump stunningly agrees US will become ‘associate member’ of British Commonwealth

President Donald Trump and Melania Trump in his first term with the then-Prince of Wales and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall

President Donald Trump on Friday indicated he would accept an offer from King Charles to join the British Commonwealth, strengthening America’s ties to the United Kingdom.

‘I Love King Charles. Sounds good to me!’ Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.

Trump was responding to an exclusive report, published Thursday by DailyMail+ royal columnist Richard Eden, that the King would make a ‘secret’ offer to the president for the U.S. to become the next ‘associate member’ of the Commonwealth.

The Commonwealth, whose nations have a total population of more than 2.7billion, is one of the world’s oldest political associations of states.

It is made up of 56 member states, the vast majority of which are former territories of the British Empire. They are connected through their use of the English language and historical-cultural ties.

Membership is voluntary and the group is mostly ceremonial.

King Charles III is the head of the commonwealth.

War in Israel Escalates as Hundreds Killed in Gaza While Ex Israeli Supreme Court Judge Warns Israel is on Brink of Civil War!

by Brian Shilhavy
Editor, Health Impact News

The situation in Israel continued to deteriorate today as over 110 Palestinians were killed in Gaza today, including babies and young children, while Israeli protests entered their second day and are starting to turn violent, as Israelis in mass turn against Benjamin Netanyahu and his involvement in “Qatar-Gate“.

Ex Israeli Supreme Court Judge Aharon Barak has warned that Israel is heading to Civil War, as Netanyahu tries to eliminate everyone in the Israeli government who opposes him, including judges. (Seems like his Zionist partner in the U.S. is doing something similar??)

Jerusalem police resorted to using water cannons against their own fellow citizens who were protesting.

And as all of this was happening today, Hamas and Yemen both launched bombs into Tel Aviv, closing their airport, and triggering alarms that sent millions of Israelis into bomb shelters.

Here is a report from Al Jazeera about the casualties in Gaza for JUST TODAY.

[…]

Both Yemen Houthis and Hamas’ al-Qassam Brigades launched rockets into Israel today toward Tel Aviv, prompting millions of Israelis to seek bomb shelters as sirens went off.

Abu Obeida hails YAF strikes on ‘Israel’ as al-Qassam targets Tel Aviv

Hamas’ al-Qassam Brigades says it launched a rocket barrage at Tel Aviv in response to the massacres committed by “Israel” against civilians in Gaza.

Abu Obeida, the military spokesperson for Hamas’ al-Qassam Brigades, called Thursday upon all the free people of the Ummah to join the battle in defense of Al-Aqsa and to continue their support for Gaza in order to shatter “Israel’s” arrogance and force it to halt its ongoing aggression.

“Today, Yemen’s missiles have intersected with those of Gaza in the skies over Tel Aviv, reaffirming that Gaza is not alone and that behind it stand free men of the Ummah who will never surrender it to its arrogant enemies,” he said.

Earlier on Thursday, the al-Qassam Brigades announced that it had launched a rocket barrage of M90 Maqadma missiles at Tel Aviv in response to the massacres committed by the Israeli occupation against civilians in the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli military confirmed detecting three rockets fired from Gaza toward central occupied Palestine, triggering sirens in Tel Aviv, Gush Dan, and surrounding settlements.

Israeli media reported that several locations where rocket shrapnel had fallen in Rishon LeZion were identified, adding that Israeli security forces are working to neutralize them.

The media also reported that sirens were activated due to rockets launched from Gaza in the Gush Dan area, leading to the suspension of flight landings and takeoffs at Ben Gurion Airport. According to the reports, “Aircraft are now circling without being allowed to land or take off.”

This came after sirens sounded across central Israeli-occupied Palestine, including in Tel Aviv and al-Quds, following a ballistic missile strike, originating from Yemen.

The sirens were sounded at 4:01 am (local time), while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was at the Knesset, Israeli Channel 14 reported.

Netanyahu was reportedly escorted to a bomb shelter during the event. Countless other settlers also rushed to safe areas, where 13 were injured due to stampedes. (Full article.)

In Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, Israeli protests against Netanyahu reached their second day, and Jerusalem police used water cannons to attack protesters. Rumors stated that the water was “skunk-scented”, as the Israeli press reported that police were smashing the windows of cars and dragging people out.

Ex-chief justice Aharon Barak warns: Israel is heading to civil war

Former Supreme Court chief justice warns of deepening internal divisions, criticizing government’s moves on judiciary and opposes dismissal of Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar – urging compromise to prevent further democratic erosion

Former Israeli Supreme Court Chief Justice Aharon Barak warned that Israel is at risk of descending into civil war, as the government is expected to approve the dismissal of Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar.

Bar’s potential ouster comes as the security agency investigates the so-called “Qatar-Gate” affair, in which members of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office are reportedly involved.

“The main issue facing Israeli society is the ‘eighth front’—the deep rift among Israelis themselves. This divide is worsening, and I fear it will be like a train going off the rails, spiraling into an abyss and leading to civil war,” Barak said in an interview with Ynetnews.

Barak, who previously served as attorney general, has recently explored the possibility of a plea deal in Netanyahu’s corruption cases.

“I believe an agreement can be reached,” he said.

Once close to Netanyahu, Barak had often praised his commitment to the rule of law.

When asked what had changed, Barak replied,

“I don’t know. I can analyze what he does, but I can’t psychoanalyze what’s going on in his head. Meanwhile, we must prevent the tyranny of the majority from using its power simply because it has the votes.”

Despite Jihadi Massacre of Christians, EU Pledges Billions Of Aid To Syria

By Niamh Harris

The European Union has promised €2.5 billion worth of aid to Syria

Their pledge comes despite the massacre of thousands of Christians and other minorities by militants linked to Syria’s new government.

The head of the new Syrian government, Ahmed al-Sharaa, has fought with ISIS and was the head of the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda, also known as Al-Nusra Front.

The Ninth Brussels Conference on Syria ended this week with a total pledge of €5.8 billion to the Middle Eastern country.

The European Conservative reports: The vow from the EU came on top of significant contributions from individual countries, including €300 million from Germany and €190 million from the United Kingdom.

The annual conference has been hosted by the EU since 2017 but took place without the government of Bashar al-Assad who was toppled last year by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a jihadist group previously allied with Islamic State and Al Qaeda.

This time, EU leaders welcomed the new government’s foreign minister, Asaad Hassan al-Shibani.

While Assad’s regime was deemed a dictatorship by EU foreign affairs chief Kaja Kallas, she failed to mention the atrocities committed by the current leadership, and simply said “it’s high time that all Syrians can live safely in peace.”

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said she hopes that Syria will become a country “with equal rights and representation for all—men and women alike, beyond faith, ethnicity and ideology. A country with no place for sectarian violence.”

The EU has already begun to ease energy, transport and financial sector sanctions against Syria.

This is either wishful thinking or pure cynicism by Brussels which has failed to acknowledge that HTS fighters have been involved in the massacre of 7,000 Christians and Alawites in Syria. Social media posts show Alawite or Christian men, women, and children barbarically shot at close range.

The head of the new Syrian government, Ahmed al-Sharaa, fought in the ranks of ISIS (Islamic State) and was the head of the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda, also known as Al-Nusra Front. The foreign minister, Asaad Hassan al-Shibani, was responsible for overseeing the transition of the Al-Nusra Front into HTS.

The HTS is designated as a terrorist group by the EU and the United Nations.

Only a few days ago, the leftist-centrist majority in the European Parliament also failed to condemn the massacres committed by the Syrian government’s associated militias when it approved a resolution which endorses the new government.

Yemeni missile suspends Israeli air traffic, as US strikes hit Yemen

El Mayadeen English

Israeli media reported Thursday the suspension of air traffic at Ben Gurion Airport following the launch of a missile from Yemen toward central “Israel”, triggering air raid sirens across multiple areas of the occupied territories, including al-Quds and the West Bank.

According to Israeli media, Channel 14 evacuated its staff, while Channel 12 cleared its studios after the sirens sounded.

The Israeli occupation military claimed it intercepted a missile launched from Yemen, marking the second such interception within a day.

Shortly after, Yemen’s Al-Masirah TV reported a fresh US aggression with four strikes on the Red Sea governorate of Hodeidah, while another targeted Saada in northern Yemen.

Brigadier General Yahaya Saree, the spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF), announced early on Friday that the YAF’s Rocket Force had fired a hypersonic ballistic missile at an Israeli military site located in southern occupied Yafa (Tel Aviv). Saree underscored that this was the second operation conducted by the YAF against Israeli targets in the past 24 hours. It is also the third overall, since the Israeli regime renewed its aggression on Gaza.

Since Saturday, the US has launched multiple rounds of strikes, including a heavy bombardment that killed 53 people.

Earlier on Thursday, the Israeli military reported intercepting a projectile fired from Gaza, while two others landed in uninhabited areas after sirens were activated in central occupied Palestine.

Hamas’ al-Qassam Brigades claimed responsibility for launching rockets toward Tel Aviv, describing the attack as retaliation for the ongoing Israeli “massacres against civilians” in Gaza.

During the early hours of Thursday, the Israeli military also intercepted a missile launched from Yemen, which the YAF said was a hypersonic ballistic missile targeting “Israel’s” main Ben Gurion Airport.

The Yemeni attack prompted nearly two million Israeli settlers to seek shelter, while “Israel’s” emergency medical service confirmed that 13 Israelis sustained injuries while rushing to bunkers.

Following the attack, Israeli media reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu adjourned a meeting at the Knesset and proceeded to a shelter after the sirens were activated.

In a separate statement, the YAF announced that it had once again targeted a US aircraft carrier group in the Red Sea, marking the latest in a series of attacks following intensified American strikes against Yemeni territory.

Declassified JFK File Confirms CIA Rejected ‘Lone Gunman’ Theory Weeks After JFK Assassination

By Jim Hoft

A newly declassified CIA document, known as the “Donald Heath Memo,” confirms that the CIA, in the immediate aftermath of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination, rejected the notion that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone.

The 11-page document, authored by Donald Heath—a CIA officer assigned to the Miami Station during the early 1960s—details the agency’s intense investigative efforts following Kennedy’s assassination on November 22, 1963.

The memo details how the CIA’s Miami Station was mobilized in the hours and days following the assassination to investigate possible links between the Cuban government, Cuban exiles, and the Kennedy killing.

Far from accepting the Warren Commission’s narrative of a lone shooter, the memo shows the agency actively probing a broader conspiracy.
