Iranian security forces have dismantled a two-member espionage cell linked to foreign intelligence services in the western province of Kermanshah, according to Mehr News Agency.
The targeted intelligence operation was executed by units of the “Ansar al-Rasul” Commando Brigade of the IRGC Ground Forces in the city of Javanrud, successfully neutralizing the network before it could execute planned subversion operations.
During the raids, IRGC commandos seized a substantial cache of military hardware and specialized communications equipment, including ten Starlink satellite internet terminals, ten Kalashnikov assault rifles, and 5,000 rounds of live ammunition.
Iranian defense officials confirmed that the suspects had been recruited through encrypted social media platforms and messaging applications to build local operational networks and facilitate covert communications channels bypassing state infrastructure.
The dismantling of the Kermanshah cell comes amid a wider security crackdown across Iran’s border provinces, where state security apparatuses have intensified counter-espionage operations against US and Israeli-linked intelligence networks.
