The Islamic Resistance in Iraq issued a statement condemning a deadly US-Saudi strike that targeted Popular Mobilization fighters and a procession of Imam Hussein visitors in Karbala, following prior allegations that Iraqi factions targeted Saudi oil facilities.
The group fiercely denounced the Saudi government, characterizing it as a “treacherous dagger” and a “dirty tool” managed by the White House to undermine the Iraqi people.
Questioning both the proportionality of the attacks and the capacity of the Iraqi government to defend national sovereignty, the resistance declared, “We affirm without a doubt that the Saudi regime was not and never will be anything other than a treacherous dagger or a dirty tool managed by the White House and its suspicious intelligence agencies.”
While vowing that an inevitable retaliation against US forces and its regional assets will occur, the faction temporarily delayed its direct actions out of respect for the ongoing Arbaeen pilgrimage.
Consequently, the group issued specific ultimatums directed at state authorities and outlined its conditions for a deferred military response:
• Deadline to government authorities: “First: We give the government authorities that demanded the resistance disarm a deadline extending until the twenty-third of Safar (2 August) to see what they will do.”
• Protection of religious pilgrims and deferred retaliation: “Second: Out of our keenness to preserve the security of the visitors of Abu Abdullah Al-Hussein (peace be upon him) and the honorable procession owners, and to prevent any disruption to the blessed Arbaeen pilgrimage before the completion of its rituals, our response to the American enemy is coming inevitably, and it may target its tools in Saudi Arabia whenever circumstances require.”
