Well, I guess the formal name for this is “controlled opposition.” I think the intent is to convince the American people they have only two choices – if they don’t like the corporate-controlled Republican Party, their only other choice is the corporate-control Democratic Party. I’ve seen many so-called “mass movements” like this created over the last 20 years. The idea is to get hundreds of thousands of angry people all excited about participating in massive street demonstrations and then to sheep herd them into the Democratic Party.
