As of today, the UK’s “Chicken License” is in full effect. October 1st marked the deadline for registering your chickens with the proper authority.
Moving forward anyone caught with an unlicensed chicken will be in breach of the law and subject to fines and poultry reclamation.
I am entirely serious.
Back in March the UK govt’s “Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs” (DEFRA) announced changes to the poultry registration laws, essentially redefining a “flock” from “50 birds or more” to 1.
So, from now on, everybody in the country who keeps even a single bird – not just chickens, all outdoor birds – has to register as a poultry keeper.
You understand, this is all about protecting birds and the public from avian influenza, not at all about increasing government monitoring with the final aim of stamping down on self-sufficiency.
Banish that cynical thought from your head.
Fortunately, the people of the UK have a tried-and-tested method of dealing with absurdity—more absurdity.
In the run-up to the deadline thousands of people took to the DEFRA website to register their “chickens” – frozen, nuggets, unhatched and even rubber:
The result is that the online service strained…

So they didn’t dare to do the same as in USA? Blame “bird flu” and terminate millions of birds, as all “tests” was “positive” …

As I recall, Sasjal, the UK has also terminated millions of birds.

This seems to be phase two then.

Government clampdowns only lead to resistance and criminality. Laws cause crime.

Personally, Katherine, I think these particular clampdowns are related to a UN/WEF conspiracy to increase social control by restricting the food supply.

It’s an age old method of controlling captive adversaries. Julius Caesar did it, and brought many slaves from Gaul.

The British government have shown that they are criminally insane with all their crap! Censoring speech pertaining to the illegal immigrants and jailing offenders, removing pensioners heating allowances at the start of winter and now this BS about registering not only your chickens but even your budgie!!!!
How about publishing a full list of all the known paedophiles ensconced in the British Parliament and the public service, including the police. right down to city council level and making them register!!

It seems the Western world is doing the exact opposite, loongtip. They’re doing their best to lower the age of consent and legalize pedophilia.

That’s why Julian Assange’s speech to the Parliamenyary Authority of the Council of Europe the other day was so inspiring. He was well spoken in defense of journalism.

The disunited states of America has tried clamping down on chickens incrementally, in several jurisdictions in several states. Locally, Paula Deen raised a stink in county government with her “rescue chickens”, so the county decided to quit enforcing its anti-rooster ban unless neighbors complained.
Deen has since moved to California.
