Following the arrest of Telegram CEO Pavel Durov [an Emirati citizen*], the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has suspended the deal with France for 80 warplanes, according to a report.
Durov was arrested in France over the weekend in relation to an ongoing investigation into his messaging platform Telegram. The case is related to the platform’s failure to check illicit activities on it such as drug trafficking and distribution of child porn. Durov is a Russia-born dual-citizen of France and UAE. It is not known if he retains Russian citizenship or has renounced it.
Now, it has been reported that the UAE has responded angrily to Durov’s arrest.
The UAE has suspended the deal with France for the purchase of fighter planes, according to a report by Iran’s Mehr News agency quoting Avia.pro website.
The UAE and French aerospace giant Dassault have a deal for the supply for 80 Rafale fighter planes. That deal is now in jeopardy, as per the report.
The portal further reported that considering the possibility of a complete blockade of military-technical cooperation with France over Durov’s arrest.
*Durov is a triple citizen of Russia, France and the UAE

The UAE doesn’t need fighter planes, according to me. I’m glad the Arab world is coming to Durov’s defense.

Hahahaha. Sorry to be so cynical, but the US has been asking for trouble a long time. I’m sure BRICS is giving the Powers That Be a run for their fake money.

Blowback’s a bitch ain’t it? Imbecilic Macron just got bitch slapped by the UAE and isn’t it glorious, reap what you sow and all that, so now all he has to do is decide whether to serve the interests of the French people or those of the US/Israel/UK axis of evil. Since he is too arrogant to admit he made a FUBAR rookie mistake, I guess the French economy will suffer yet another blow, unless he can find a way to extricate himself out of this mess of his own making. I wonder just how obsequious he can be?

What I find really ironic, Susan, is that Durov had a dinner engagement with Macron the evening he flew in – and was arrested instead.
