The Israeli government faces its biggest inner tensions as the international pressure demand a ceasefire and the recognition of Palestine as full-fledged state.

War Cabinet Minister Benny Gantz threatened on Saturday to leave the emergency government if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not agree on a plan for a post-war Gaza by June 8.

At a press conference, Gantz demanded that the War Cabinet-composed of Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant-draw up a six-point plan including who could govern the devastated Palestinian territory.

Days before the latter, Gallant publicly contradicted Netanyahu by opposing any government of a military nature in the Gaza Strip once Zionist aggression ceased, and demanded a post-war plan.

Today there have also been protests in the centre of Tel Aviv, where thousands of Israelis are demonstrating against the government and in favour of a truce agreement to release more than 130 hostages held in Gaza, of which at least thirty have already been confirmed as dead.

Gantz is an Israeli retired top general who polls shows up as the main Netanyahu’s political rival. his challenge could increase tensions in the increasingly unwieldy government and a Netanyahu appears flanked between threats from other political factions to withdraw their support and popular protests demanding his resignation and a ceasefire.

On the other hand, the army Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi criticized Netanyahu for the lack of political planning for an agreement after the war ended, in a moment which the international pressure and the killed by the Zionist offensive rose the 35.000.

As the Israeli politicians ask for a post war plan, the UN General Assembly (UNGA), 143 out of 193 countries voted in favor of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) reconsidering Palestine’s integration as a full-fledged state, something that the Zionist government will not to take in count.

  1. The problem with many of these articles is they keep ignoring and forgetting the following:

This latest conflict started with over 1200 men, women, children, and elderly brutally murdered in one day, in an unprovoked attack. These are real people. For perspective, this would be the equivalent of nearly 45,000 people being murdered in one day in the US, on a proportion of population basis. Contrast that to 9/11 and the approx 3,000 murdered there. Let that sink in for a moment.

There were about 250 hostages taken, and more than half are still in captivity.

Next, consider that the central motto is “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”, and other similar mantras,, meaning that Israel, and more importantly, the people of Israel, have no right to exist. That is the underlying desire.

Remember that Hamas continues to go to extreme measures, using its people as shields to achieve their goals. The people in Gaza are an oppressed people by their own “government”.

Until these immediate issues are properly addressed, the measures taken to try to protect themselves cannot be held against Israel. Nowhere else on earth would any of these positions and tenets be considered acceptable, nor a basis for negotiation.

    • When you say ridiculous things like 1200 were brutally murdered in an unprovoked attack, it is quite apparent you have no concept of Middle Eastern history. To begin with, the majority of the 1200 Israels who lost their lives were actually killed by IDF helicopter pilots and tank crews. Plus, Israel has been provoking the Palestinian population for 76 years and each year it gets worse. The Israelis are Colonial occupiers if you like the fact or not! I could go on and post a short history of the Nakba, but, it would be more informative if you read two books by Ilan Pappe, an Israeli historian. They are, ‘The Ethnic Cleansing Of Palestine,’ and ‘Ten Myths About Israel.’
