Senator Rand Paul declared that he will hold up a spending bill in the Senate and push toward a government shutdown unless $6 billion in aid to Ukraine is removed from the legislation.
Paul took to Twitter noting that he will only allow a vote on the spending stopgap before the Sept. 30 deadline for funding government if Senate leaders get rid of the massive amount of money earmarked for the war.
“If leadership insists on funding another country’s government at the expense of our own government, all blame rests with their intransigence,” Paul wrote.

Last week, Paul slammed the Ukrainian leadership as “corrupt” and blasting the visiting President Zelensky as “begging for more money.”
In the Senate, Paul asked “When will the aid requests end? When will the war end? Can someone explain what victory looks like?”
Paul also noted that Zelensky has cancelled Democracy in the country.
“They’ve cancelled the elections. What kind of democracy has no election?” he noted, adding “next year, Zelensky said he’s not going to have an election because it would be inconvenient during the war and would be expensive.”
He continued, “if you don’t have elections, who in the world will be supporting a country that’s not a democracy? They’ve banned the political parties, they’ve invaded churches, they’ve arrested priests. So, no, it isn’t a democracy. It’s a corrupt regime.”

Meanwhile, Democratic Presidential candidate, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. warned on Thursday that the “next step of Ukraine War escalation” is stationing United States military advisers on the ground.
“Have they forgotten how we got embroiled in Vietnam?” RFK Jr. noted, linking to a recent article in Foreign Affairs calling for on-the-ground training:

Sound familiar? If one didn’t know any better, one would think he was speaking of the United States of America.
Also, let’s be clear, certain political parties are banned from representation at debates. All other parties, other than the Democratic and Republican parties are not invited to attend debates. We have been limited by the mainstream media on options other than the two most worthless parties in the history of this nation. No wonder polls show that more and more Americans are opting out of voting. Why vote? There is nothing to vote for.
I certainly hope that Rand Paul stands by what he’s said because there is no reason on this earth for this government to continue to throw money at those Nazis in Ukraine while telling Americans who are dealing with skyrocketing rents and therefore, evictions, outrageous food prices, gas, utilities; the whole nine yards to just suck it up and deal, is beyond the absolute end of enough. Not to mention, this Administration could only find $700 to throw at the people of Maui after a devastating wildfire destroyed their homes. They are blatant with their contempt for American citizens and if anyone signs up to join to fight an “on the ground war,” they’ll be in for it which is why they are trying to make it so hard for people that if they try and reinstate the draft, that there’ll be no uproar. Oh, there’ll be an uproar. Let ’em try it!

I believe Rand Paul will stand by his words, Shelby. His father took a similar position on the war in Iraq, but didn’t have the congressional backing Rand does.

Good for Senator Paul. He and RFK, Jr. have the courage to speak up for traditional US values. Even George Washington warned against foreign engagements, but we have forgotten this, with the “corporate capture” of government here and abroad.

It’s kind of hard to build an empire, Katherine, without foreign engagement. That’s what Mark Twain and fellow members in the US Anti-Imperialist League were trying to stop during the Spanish-American War.
