Jacinda Ardern says she will not be seeking re-election this year and her last day as prime minister is 7 February.
Speaking this afternoon, Ardern said she reflected over the summer and tried to find a way to keep going for another year and another term but she could not.
“After going on six years of some big challenges, I am human. Politicians are human. For me, it’s time…
“So today I’m announcing that I will not be seeking re-election and my term as prime minister will conclude no later than the 7th of February.
“I believe that leading a country is the most privileged job anyone could ever have but also one of the more challenging. You cannot and should not do it unless you have a full tank plus a bit in reserve for those unexpected challenges.”
Ardern was visibly upset and tearful as she made the announcement.

I can’t express the relief I feel at this announcement. This woman has caused unprecedented hardship for myself and friends owing to our refusal to be vaccinated. Children have been plunged into poverty after their parents were fired from the hospital (over a year ago and they have yet to be rehired, leaving our health system on the verge of collapse). She’s mobilized immense hatred and abuse from the rest of the community, referring to us as “a river of filth,” prohibited unvaccinated children from participating in sports. The divisiveness she spawned has broken up families and contributed to an epidemic of adolescent suicides. To say nothing of the deaths and vaccine injuries she’s directly responsible for by failing to take the advice of her scientific advisors regarding the risk of myocarditis from mRNA vaccines for children under 18. I suspect the leak of cabinet papers (regarding her failure to heed scientific advice) a few days ago has triggered the resignation.

Has she really been worse than any of the other leaders?

Far worse. It was the first time I directly experienced oppression. For months I was not allowed in restaurants or the library and when we (a group of elderly women over 70) were handing out leaflets trying to increase public awareness about mRNA vaccine risks, people would constantly drive by calling us cunts or saying, “fuck you” or giving us the finger because we were so thoroughly demonized by Jacinda’s government. It was extremely demoralizing.

“Political insider and right-wing commentator Cameron Slater published an article 10 days ago saying that out of all the politicians he has known (and he has known most since Muldoon in the 1970s) Ardern is the only one he rates as truly evil.”

She’s by far the most authoritarian.

I like her attitudes about what you need when leading a country!

Appearances are deceptive. Despite the sweet smile, her government was extremely tyrannical. Many of my friends are still out of work and struggling to support their families. And she deliberately lied about a vaccine being safe in young people when she knew it put them at high risk of myocarditis. I think that’s criminal.

People are calling for a Royal Commission inquiry on the leaked cabinet documents, loongtip. I don’t think she’s going to get off that easily.

I wonder, why all the governments in the Western countries behaved in a similar way? Or do you know of any governments in the Western world that avoided all this lying?

Possibly Sweden. Jacinda was definitely the most effective at it and the mandates here (which are still happening) and the mandates the most brutal.

Yes, enough is enough. Hopefully things are going to improve.

If they call a Royal Commission inquiry, which is being called for in some quarters, loongtip, she won’t be able to walk away from it.
