PayPal is reportedly offering account holders $15 to prevent them closing their accounts after the platform shamefully threatened to steal their money if they express the ‘wrong’ opinion.
PayPal announced that it would reserve the right to take up to $2500 from people’s accounts if they ‘spread hate’ or ‘misinformation’ – meaning opinions they dislike.
After a massive backlash, Paypal backtracked and then a narrative was created by so called ‘fact checkers’ that the entire thing never happened and Paypal never intended to fine people for wrong think, despite writing an entire policy update expressing an intent to do so: https://www.youtube.com/embed/bw9NVYOX6kQ

Note: Paypal is still threatening to fine users $2,500 for “promoting intolerance that is discriminatory.” See https://reclaimthenet.org/paypal-fine-2500-intolerance-discriminatory/

I know. There are a number of programs you can’t use without a cellphone now. I have a 2G phone (that doesn’t spy on you) that I use for emergencies.

Trying to keep up with all the machinations on every front is exhausting. Today’s policy anywhere can change tomorrow. Paypal seems to be trying to salvage the credibility it lost when it confiscated accounts.
Lots of people, organizations, and governments trying to save face, these days, and vying for the limelight to promote a re-purposed image.
