  3. A rude younger man made a comment to me that “old disabled people should be done away with” — this was while I was walking to my vehicle with a cane. I had an interaction with him before doing my errand, in which he demanded to know why I was parking there and where I was going? I told him it was none of his business. I’m 60, and this was the day after my birthday. Brought me to tears.

    • The young man, who made this insensitive statement, is an example of somebody who was ‘simply allowed to grow in size-NOT maturity’… Baby Boomers were still being taught values and wisdom by their elders.. I vote we capture this young man and put him in a isolated place to be exposed to truth of real history, which was experienced by Elders in REAL TIME!.. Then we don’t release him until he can share a Life Experience that is EQUAL or GREATER than the Elders…

I was a very proud mom the day my kids and I were at a garage sale of an elderly couple.. As we drove up, my 10 yr. old son said “mom this won’t be a good one”!.. The older couple was so entertained my young son they gave him a soda and showered him with chatter and attention!!… Before we left my son bought an old bread board with his money!!… (YES, a bread board) .. I said nothing, I assume it was his way of giving back what this couple had given him- RECOGNITION and ATTENTION… I still have that bread board… lol..

In the end, it is the insensitive young man we should feel sorry for… He has been CHEATED out of meaningful life experiences… I suppose I could be wrong, but I don’t think so… =)
