US made drones inferior, cost more than Chinese ones they’ve replaced: spells trouble for Biden

America’s fundamental weakness here is that it remains an ultra-capitalist economy that has subsequently offshored manufacturing and embraced global markets as big corporations do, but then on a political level decided, against the flow of the market, that it does not like this system anymore, because a rival country dominates it.

  1. I won’t lie. There’s some schadenfreude here for me. I’m glad the US is weaning off China. I think it’s better we have more natural allies like Britain (and current/former territories) and the rest of Western Europe where degrees of Christianized humanitarian values are theoretically stressed. (Inasmuch as governments pursue morals for any purpose beyond succour of public appeal.)

  2. To be honest, Saxo Digressus, I honestly think it’s too late. I don’t think it matters what the US does. The oligarchs who run the country are not genuinely interested in rebuilding the US manufacturing industry, or the US economy and infrastructure. All they care about is lining their own pockets.
