here is a man who has enough money to single handed eradicate starvation worldwide, saving countless lives, yet he chooses to pursue a dubiously beneficial goal of vaccinating everyone on the planet. the former would save many more lives and destroy many less than the latter. it takes a special kind of stupidity, or a special kind of evil, to do latter in light of this.

both metaphors are accurate but neither quite captures bill gates…what?…status i guess. position of power. based on no qualifications except enormous overwhelming wealth. there has to be a name for such a thing? uncrowned king maybe.

It strikes me as a very risky proposition with 7 billion people to feed, given that our food system is totally dependent on sunlight for photosynthesis. Oh, that’s right I forgot. They aren’t counting on feeding all of us.

yes. he might be buying up farmland to control/limit food production towards his goal of reducing world population. if he were to alleviate starvation, after all, that would increase the population. he couldnt have that. esp considering that the increase would be among the global poor and nonwhite.
