“On Monday, Wheeler sent Newsom a letter questioning how the state could add millions of electric vehicles despite having “a record of rolling blackouts.” He said it “begs the question of how you expect to run an electric car fleet that will come with significant increases in electricity demand, when you can’t even keep the lights on today.”
Personally, Peacefrog, I don’t support replacing fossil fuel cars with millions of electric vehicles – mainly because of the immense ecological damage (and political repression) inherent in lithium mining. I think the emphasis needs to be on free convenient public transport and a focus on urban design that allows people to use active transport (bicycles, scooters, walking) to meet most of the daily needs.
