The senior US government officials who wrote the report are from several key agencies including the Army, Defense Intelligence Agency, and NASA. The study called on the Pentagon to urgently prepare for the possibility that domestic power, water, and food systems might collapse due to the impacts of climate change as we near mid-century.

The way I envision it, Tube, it’s the grid that’s most unreliable (as I understand it’s a total patchwork system under no real centralized control), and you can’t retain a centralized government or military without a reliable communication network. I suppose they could go back to using carrier pigeons, but I don’t think there are enough of them.
