As reported in the Oct 19 Sydney Morning Herald, former deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce has joined calls for the Morrison government to try to halt Julian Assange’s potential extradition from Britain to the United States on espionage charges, as the WikiLeaks founder’s supporters intensify their campaign to bring him to Australia.
Mr Joyce joined former foreign minister Bob Carr in voicing concerns over US attempts to have the 48-year-old Australian stand trial in America, where he faces a sentence of 175 years if found guilty of computer fraud and obtaining and disclosing national defence information.
Needs to be pardoned from wherever or whomever is applicable. Assange is one of the main reasons the neo-conlib DC swamp deception was at least disrupted enough to pump the breaks on its imperialist expansion wet dreams.

Too true, boomrx. We all owe Assange a great debt. As far as I can see, the way he’s currently being treated is pure vindictiveness. It’s surely not preventing Wikileaks from releasing new leaks – such as the one a few weeks ago from OPCW whistleblower. Whoever is presently running Wikileaks is wisely staying out of the limelight.

…and they actually believe he’d be safer in Australia??? What are they smoking over there, well, apart from brush fire ash?

Sha’Tara, I worked with a number of whistleblowers in my private practice in Seattle, and all I can say is that maximum security prisons and mental hospitals are the most dangerous places for whistleblowers to be. Assange at least stands a chance of surviving if we can get him out of Belmarsh.

Looking at it that way, you are correct.
