  1. I hope India sticks to its indigenous crops goals. Cotton isn’t the only Bt product, and Monsanto (now subsumed under Bayer) is a wily Shape Shifting Alien Reptile that has no scruples. I think we’re going to find that GM crops are inferior in every way. Let’s hope we find out sooner rather than later.

Katherine, I think it’s important to give proper credit to the grassroots seed saving and other movements, led by Vendana Shiva and Arundhati Roy in getting farmers to reject GM crops – despite major pressure put on them by the Indian government. Major shifts like this don’t occur without major struggle.
