Americans Had To Borrow 88 BILLION Dollars To Cover Their Medical Bills Last Year, by Michael Snyder

Surveys have shown that up to two-thirds of the country is living paycheck to paycheck at least part of the time, and an unexpected medical bill can be absolutely devastating for those that are just barely scraping by.

If you want Exhibit A in how badly government can screw up an industry, look no farther than medicine and medical insurance. From Michael Snyder at theeconomiccollapseblog.com:

I know that the headline sounds outrageous, but it is actually true.  According to a brand new report that was just released, Americans had to borrow 88 billion dollars to cover their medical bills last year.  That is a truly astounding number, and it shows just how dramatically our current health care system has failed.  And even though the vast majority of Americans are covered by “health insurance”, millions of us are deathly afraid to go to the hospital because of what it might cost.  Today, two-thirds of all personal bankruptcies in the United States are caused by medical bills, and most of the people going bankrupt actually had health insurance.  Overall, more than half a million American families are financially…

  1. It is really bad! My cousin went to the dentist and they told him that his dental insurance would pay for a “military crown,” and he thought they meant that was a certain type of crown and not an actual “military discounted crown,” and after he got the temporary crown, when he was making an appointment to get the permanent crown, they told him, “Your insurance will only pay for half, your half will be $498!” I had dropped him off because it was my volunteer day and I had to make other runs. So, when I picked him up, he was clearly upset while he was telling me that the dentist’s office had basically threatened him that they would refuse to do the permanent crown if he didn’t pay up the next day. I called those bastards and gave them an earful. Not only has he entered into a payment plan, but I chose how much he would have to pay.

And yet, I had the unmitigated gall to wonder why so many people are walking around here with rotten teeth, missing teeth or no teeth at all. That’s why! “Healthcare” is not about people’s health, it is ALL about business. If you could see these people, you would be outraged because they look like death warmed over! And that is a damn shame! And the majority of these people are Trump supporters. Go figure!

  2. Murica is very close to the edge. A fake war, probably will not do it this time.

Little access to decent healthcare for most.

Things are gettin shitty. There are twice as many cops hired in this most towns and 3 times as many panhandlers as there were a year ago in most of murica….

Its not just complication . most people are seriously deprived and all the bullshit in the world is not doing much to cover that up anymore. Even the fat fuks driving the gashogs around that can barely walk a few steps and breath no somethings up

Its not simply because “The modern developed world makes living complicated”, euphemistic propaganda. Most people are seriously deprived and unhealthy. Most lose their shit when they see medical bills and hospital bills, even with insurance. All the bullcrud in the world is not doing much to cover that up anymore

The psychopaths in charge are squeezing everydrop of blood out of everyone.

Sometimes i catch a glimpse of fuko on the media. He repeatedly says oranges for original . He seems like a robot or husk possessed by a demon. He a seems vey fuked up on drugs.

The cretenous demon says it will close the borders.
So many of the millionaires and billionaines make money out of mexico.
If the husk does close the border it will probably cause things to crash faster . The irony will be that many americans will have no place to go for affordable and decent health care.

People will take to the streets as things get worse. There will probably be a bloodbath in this ugly shithole country as a result.

  3. I’m so glad you intervened, Shelby, and set up a payment plan. That’s always been my principle with professionals – they can either accept regular incremental payments I can afford or lose half their fee by turning me over a collection agency. And when I was in private practice, I always accepted payment plans because that was the best most of my patients could do. Which was why I always struggled to pay for medical and dental care for myself and my daughter (I was unable to afford private insurance after 1993 – but when my daughter turned 16 she got a job at a local supermarket that provided good insurance through the Retail Clerks union).

Shelby, I’ve come to believe that capitalism eventually squeezes the goodness out of everything, including health care and education.

    • It does indeed, Dr. Bramhall, it does indeed, “squeeze the goodness out of everything, including health care and education.” And because it does, we should have done something constructive about what we saw coming down the pike, but we didn’t and so here we are. Sad state of affairs, it is!
