Insurance groups are recommending GoFundMe as official policy while cynically opposing Medicare for All (and donating heavily to Democratic candidates who oppose it). Patients die, of course, if they can’t raise their goal in time.

Yet Another Reason America Needs Medicare for All

“‘You can’t have a heart unless you do GoFundMe for 10K’ is not a just system.”
November 26, 2018 “Information Clearing House“ – As progressive lawmakers and healthcare experts have frequently pointed out in recent months, few growing trends have laid bare the fundamental immorality and brokenness of America’s healthcare system quite like the rise of GoFundMe and other crowdfunding platforms as methods of raising money for life-saving medical treatments that—due to insurance industry greed and dysfunction—are far too expensive for anyone but the very wealthiest to afford.
Providing the latest example of this horrifying trend, a Michigan woman seeking a heart transplant publicized a letter she received from the Spectrum Health Richard DeVos Heart and Lung Transplant Clinic—named after the late father-in-law of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos—informing her that she is “not a…

This is absolutely horrifying! What kind of monsters can do this to people? Seriously??!!! This is why I go off the deep end. This is just beyond reprehensible. They expect people to ‘crowd fund’ their health care costs??!!! What next? A lottery to see who can go to the doctor this month? I mean, where will it end if this is not reined in?

My first reaction, Shelby, was that this had to be satire. But sadly it’s not. Too many people who run our insurance companies are set in the belief that health care is not a right but a privilege for the rich. I love your new avatar by the way.

I’m kinda partial to my new avatar, as well. I want it known what I think of capitalism and that I participate in it as little as possible. And I thought, how appropriate, especially for this time of year.

And if you are Black and are shot by a Blue for being Black? I can imagine your organs going to a popular go-fund me patient or lottery winner.

The truth of the matter is that ‘organ harvesting’ of Black people is ALL the rage! There have been many Black people found dead whose organs had been removed. We don’t even have to have “organ donor” on our driver’s license to in fact, end up as an unwilling ‘organ donor’. The shit that we deal with, you have no idea Bill.

Wow, Bill. How very perceptive. I bet you’re right. That’s what we’ll be reading next – people selling their kidneys so they can afford the surgery they need.

As I commented to Bill, Dr. Bramhall, the organs of Black people are stolen. We don’t even get the chance to ‘sell’ them. They just take them. Our organs, apparently, don’t really belong to us, doncha know.

I knew a doctort in seattle. He was my friend. I have not heard from him for a while. Got in a car wreck that almost destroyed him. He had a head injury. He was paying 4000 a month for health insurance in the late 90s. Finally he was able to retire. Now Trumpo is destroying medicare, by allowing it to be taken over by the Bean Counters at United Health Care, Cigna, Humana.
These vampire, insurance-middlemen crooks have their commercials all over on tv.
Stupid ol fuks voted for trump and got this. They cannot even see doctors in their area. Muricans are the stupidest bastards on the face of the earth.
Imagine having to salute this every day

Gloria, I have been fighting for publicly funded universally funded health care for all Americans since 1986. It’s an issue very near to my heart.
