  1. Unfortunately, we’ve passed the point that people are going to actually do anything about this. Most are either struggling to survive or are so programmed that they don’t even know what it means to give a shit. When the economy collapses, as it surely will over the next year or two, internet freedoms will be the last thing on anyone’s mind. And of course, with that kind of chaos opportunities to enact all sorts of draconian legislations and executive orders will come into play.

The silver lining to this may just be that people will be shocked into awakening and new communities will form outside the influence of Official Culture. And perhaps those new communuties will become the template for something entirely different in the future. No utopia of course, but a connected mindset that develops self-sufficient, autonomous and eminently pragmatic small-scale living outside the dead visions of the State. This is the focus I think people should be moving toward as things get progressively crazy. Rather than letting the chips fall where they may, this is an opportunity to take steps to mitigate the effects of socio-economic fracturing and increasingly insistent environmental disturbance. If one reads the signs from both science and ancient wisdom there is no question we are in for some highly turbulent times that will require mutual support. So, now’s the time to find that support and make sure you are psychologically and practically prepared.
