After Christine Blasey Ford testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee this morning, President Trump’s supreme court nominee Brett Kavanaugh began his testimony which is still in progress.  Kavanaugh’s shocking opening statement, which went on for nearly an hour, could be summarized as I’m a good guy, I like beer, and the Democrats are conspiring to ruin my life.  It was shocking because his speech was extremely emotional, embarrassingly rambling, and filled with rage.  I never would’ve expected a nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court to lose control of himself so dramatically.  It appeared to me that Kavanaugh was in serious self-denial about the situation he now finds himself in and that it is challenging his perception of self-entitlement.  It also appeared to me that he might be suffering from the psychological effects of alcoholism.  Regardless of the numerous sexual misconduct allegations made against him, Kavanaugh’s…

  1. I did not watch any of that ‘dog and pony’ show of ‘he said, she said’ and the outcome will not bother me in the least since the Supreme Court is already filled to overflowing with right wing ideologues. Clarence Thomas, who basically, went through proceedings such as these, still managed to be believed over Anita Hill. Go figure! And now Joe Biden squeaks out that “he owes Anita Hill an apology.” Too little, too late. The damage has already been done.

There is no way in hell that Kavanaugh can claim that there was no out-of-control drinking and sexual antics at those parties that the privileged throw who are in those posh schools they attend. Those types of parties have even gotten in the news, they have been so outrageous. However, I did read that Kavanaugh did not display the demeanor of a Supreme Court nominee when he testified and that in fact, his accuser was more believable, sane and honest in her testimony. Of course Trump would pick someone who is just like him, a privileged, narcissist who believes that everyone was put here to serve and revere him and that means, taking what they want. And I wish someone would step forward and claim that Lindsey Graham sexually assaulted them to get him to shut the hell up! At least we don’t have to hear from John McCain, but we still have to hear Graham’s fake ass rants of outrage. All of this is just too ludicrous for words.

  2. To be honest, Shelby, I didn’t watch it either. It’s far easier to avoid overseas. I’m relying on someone else’s reported account. I, too, am intimately acquainted with the exorbitant rich white privilege that feeds our modern day rape culture. I followed Clarence Thomas’s confirmation hearings much more closely and definitely don’t want to repeat the experience. And you’re right – Kavanaugh is exactly the kind of person Trump would pick. Thanks for your comment.
