Are You Really Ready For When The Power Grid Goes Down? (LINK)

The dangers to our aging, fragile electrical grid are numerous – and not simply from cyber attacks or EMP.

Even if it’s not a false flag, EMP, controlled or manipulated power outage/black out, etc..natural and or man affected issues (car or lightning hits a transformer or power station), a tree falls on a line, etc snow, ice, freezing rain will knock the power out…the question is, “how long will it take to turn back on? And, will it come back on in a fashionable time that you are prepped for?

The thing is, we need to be ready, alternative lighting, power, heat, and even in the warmer months (cooling)…no one think about these things until they happen. So, get ready; I have it n the best of knowledge that this fall/ winter will be very bad. Not sure of your area, but mine is scheduled for possible ice storm, freezing rain (time will tell); I’d rather have it and not need it, then need it and not have it…

  1. I have also heard that this winter is going to be exceptionally frigid. And though we have been hearing about ‘Preppers’, I don’t think millions of Americans are prepared for an extended period without electricity. We are not hardy souls since we have our creature comforts to shield us from excesses in temperature at the moment. But if the grid were ever to fail, there goes any form of civilized behavior since we are only civilized up to a certain point. Pass that point and civility goes flying out the window. So no, we are “not ready for when the power grid goes down.”

  2. I’m inclined to agree with you, Shelby. With the breakdown of community, I think the loss of the grid makes Americans particularly vulnerable to chaos and violence when they can’t get their individual needs met. I think we may fare better here in New Zealand, particularly in rural communities. People are only one generation off the farm here – and we already find a lot of people returning to New Plymouth from the big city for the lifestyle. Thanks for your comment.
