When “Fake Progressives” Crack Down on Progressive Voices: Bonnie Faulkner’s Guns and Butter on KPFA

Before they shut the program down, I was also a regular Guns and Butter listener – to my knowledge, it was one of the few “alternative” radio outlets to objectively report on false flag intelligence operations, money creation by private banks, the absence of good research on vaccine safety and effectiveness and a host of other topics “progressive” media outlets aren’t allowed to report on.

The consensus among “Progressives” and Left Democrats is that Alex Jones is a “conspiracy theorist” (allegedly involved in hate speech) and censorship against him has nothing to do with First Amendment rights which guarantee Freedom of Speech.

While the media has provided extensive coverage of the Alex Jones saga, the crackdown on progressive voices by self-proclaimed “Progressives” has not hit the headlines.

Bonnie Faulkner’s Guns and Butter weekly program on KPFA has been closed down by Pacifica. It was among the station’s most popular programs over a period of 17 years. Not a word from the mainstream media.

This decision against Bonnie Faulkner is also intended to suppress the voices of prominent authors, activists, lawyers, scientists, politicians and scholars who have contributed to Bonnie’s weekly program over the past 17 years. (See archive here)

  1. Yeah, the right is crying out about being censored, pointing to this censorship as being carried out by the Democrats. This is true but only because the Dems are carrying water for the Deep State. The Right is being censored because they are the ones most critical “false flag intelligence operations, money creation by private banks, the absence of good research on vaccine safety and effectiveness and a host of other topics “progressive” media outlets aren’t allowed to report on.” It is not because these people are right wing that they are censored. Its because day deal critically with the above issues and pose a threat to the Deep State. They, unlike socalled progressives, challenge the official narrative and lies of the Deep State. BTW, it is because they do this that I follow them. This proves that those on the Left who challenge Deep State lies will be censored as well. Its not a left right thing, as Black Agenda Reports can testify. It’s a dissent from the official narrative thing. Theyre coming for the Right first because they have been boldly, beautifully critical of the official narrative. Unlike the spineless people that call themselves progressives or liberals. But they will becoming for truth tellers on the Left presently. Who? The Deep State thats who

    • Wow, you make some great points here, nomad – especially about them going after the Right because they’re the most vocal about attacking the Deep State at the moment. As a long time progressive activist, I get really fed up with other so-called progressives telling me I can’t express concerns about vaccines, the Federal Reserve and false flag operations. This is one of the main reasons I really loved Guns and Butter

        • The republicans are the major part of the censorship crap. The rightwing democrats too. Their corporate donors demand it. The military industrial complex demands it. The more promilitary or, koch a webstie is the less likely it will be censored. They really hate antimilitary, hate antinuclear sites.

There are rightwing sites about Fukushima that stay up, but there are antinuclear weapon-peace websites, that get the shit censored out of them.

Trump acquiesces. Its all part of a gaslighting game. Its like stuart says the cia and other deepstate plays both sides protrump and antitrump.

Trump was political years ago. Totally involved w roy cohn. He was also involved with spooks, like roger stone and kissinger.

I hate alex jones becaiuse he is a racist mouthpiece but, think about it. Trump sold him out to the fascist centrist democrats, like schumer and clinton.

Trump is as phoney as a 3 dollar bill. Trump is not a populist. He has breakfast in the Hamptons.

Tulsi is a progressive anti war veteran so am i. There are many of us. The fuker democrats that are censoring, are not progressives.

I do not know what liberals means anymore. In australia they are rightwing polluting asses, like trump.

I guess millionaire-neoliberal clinton-supporters may fit there ie liberals.

Do not gaslight us and try blow smoke up everyones asses and we will not do it to you!

          • Thanks for your extremely thoughtful comment, Nick. There’s nothing here I can argue with. It never occurred to me that Trump sold out Alex Jones (I’m not a big fan, either), but I think you’re right. Many years ago, someone told me that a liberal is someone who wants to have a clear conscience without giving up their comfortable lifestyle. I think that applies more than ever today.

    • Thanks for commenting, Deb. With the growing influence of CIA-funded foundations over the so-called “progressive” movement it’s more important than ever that people have access to media outlets that try to present all sides of the anti-corporate argument.

  2. Here’s the email I wrote to KPFA management:

    To whom it may concern:

I’m just writing to let you know how appalled I am about the cancellation of Guns and Butter after 17 years.

I find the reason given for the cancellation particularly galling – relating not to content but to “controversial” guests she featured.

I have listened to nearly every Guns and Butter program in the last year. While I didn’t agree with the views of several of the guests, I always learned something.

Bonnie is one of the most skilled interviewers I have ever encountered. She never let controversial assertions slide. She was always pressing interviewees for the facts and reasoning behind their statements. It was always left up to listeners to decide.

In and era of increased polarization between “right” and “left” in the US, it’s more important than ever that progressives and liberals occasionally hear opposing viewspoints – instead of only reading, listening and watching opinions they already agree with.

I hope you are thoroughly ashamed of yourselves for joining in with Google, YouTube, Facebook etc in the blatant censorship of unpopular views.
