This is what a state of undeclared martial law looks like, when you can be arrested, tasered, shot, brutalized and in some cases killed merely for not complying with a government agent’s order or not complying fast enough.

“A government which will turn its tanks upon its people, for any reason, is a government with a taste of blood and a thirst for power and must either be smartly rebuked, or blindly obeyed in deadly fear.”—John Salter
Police in a small Georgia town tasered a 5-foot-2, 87-year-old woman who was using a kitchen knife to cut dandelions for use in a recipe. Police claim they had no choice but to taser the old woman, who does not speak English but was smiling at police to indicate she was friendly, because she failed to comply with orders to put down the knife.
Police in California are being sued for using excessive force against a deaf 76-year-old woman who was allegedly jaywalking and failed to halt when police yelled at her. According to the lawsuit, police searched the woman and her grocery bags. She was then slammed to the…

They have been coming for Black people since they went over to Africa and brought my ancestors here and all hell has been breaking loose since. Whites have always thought that they would be immune to what Black folks were getting but now that AI is here and robots are coming down the pike, what need have the ‘elites’ for all the ‘white’ folks who are going to be going the fuck off, and who are armed to the teeth? They’ll be getting unholy hell knocked out of them as well. That military equipment sitting around all across AmeriKKKa is not just for show. They can ask the police at police departments all across this shithole why the Pentagon approved and deposited militarized weaponry from war zones in Iraq and Afghanistan in police departments everywhere. It’s to put their ass in check, as well.

All very sad but true, Shelby. With automation, blue collar workers have become a bunch of “useless eater,” the term Hitler gave people who had no value for the capitalist enterprise.

I was not around in the sixties. There were a lot of tanks rolling, and national guardsman moving on the people, in the streets of murica. Also on college campuses. In San Francisco, LA, Chicago, St Louis, NY, Philly, DC, Atlanta. In Berkely, Kent State, UW, UM, UT, UEverywhere. American forces marching and, killing their own people.
People more afraid now because, the cops are more militarized. Trump the fascist, threatens felonies and violence on protesters.
Half the country is impoverished.
White supremacists emboldened.
15-20 million homeless and growing, in the worst open ghetto tent cities in every city in murica.
All the suppos-ed leaders want to do, is to traipse around the world, fomenting more misery and, creating more regugees there. Never a meaner or more dangerous time in murican history.

I honestly don’t know why people don’t rise up now, Nick. I’m not sure it’s fear that inhibits them. I would be more inclined to blame the corporate media – which has become extremely effective at limiting the information they have access to, as well as distracting them from their true needs and interests and shifting the blame for their problems to people of color, immigrants and feminists.

Come on stuart. In america they are threatened with getting shot and felonies like recent protestors at the inauguration. Media had a lot to do w it.

To be honest, Nick, in all my years (nearly 40 now) as a grassroots organizer I have never had anyone use fear as a reason not to be involved in ongoing organizing. Protesting rarely accomplishes any real change – it’s main usefulness is raising the profile of specific anti-corporate campaigns. The main work that creates change is the ongoing committee work after the protest. Apathy (which can be deadly) and distraction have always been the main reason people don’t get involved in ongoing committee work.

Well there have been a few protests. Like the womens protests and, the protests about the kids getting snatched from their parents. Nothing like europe or britain, china, even mexico.

This is quite psychotic. The only places where security people carry guns in pharmacies, schools, medical clinics etc are counties like guatemala and honduras. They are police states.

Agreed, Meary. Americans need to confront the fact that the US is both a police state now – and a 3rd world country like Guatemala and Honduras.

No one is safe now, TheSociologicalMail. We are no longer protected by the Bill of Rights – and we have Obama to thank for that.
