Insurance companies are already refusing to ensure homes in coastal Florida.

WASHINGTON – Accelerating sea level rise in the lower 48 states, primarily driven by climate change, is projected to worsen tidal flooding, putting as many as 311,000 coastal homes with a collective market value of about $117.5 billion today at risk of chronic flooding within the next 30 years—the lifespan of a typical mortgage—according to a new report by the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) released today. Roughly 14,000 coastal commercial properties assessed at a value of roughly $18.5 billion also are at risk during that time frame. By the end of the century, homes and businesses currently worth more than $1 trillion could be at risk: as many as 2.4 million homes—roughly the equivalent of all the homes in Los Angeles and Houston combined—valued at approximately $912 billion and 107,000 commercial properties assessed at $152 billion.

They do get insurance. Fema also helps them build new homes in flood plains. It is true. Not so many things make sense anymore.

Pretty soon, it will not matter where we reside in the U.S., we will be in the path of some sort of storm system causing massive flooding, sinkholes and other soil erosion. The Midwest is trying to recover from severe storm systems that have washed away roads, demolished homes and destroyed businesses.

The West is burning up thanks to wildfires while the East Coast is burning up thanks to a heatwave. The power grid is getting a good workout. The folks over in Puerto Rico wish they did have a power grid to work with and those in Hawaii are still dealing with a volcano erupting. Ellicott City, MD had just about finished rebuilding the historic downtown area after a massive flood last year and now it’s been washed away by their 2nd ‘thousand year’ flood just one year after the previous one.

To be continued is right, Shelby – this is all as was predicted when scientists first began to warn us about climate change 20 years ago. I clicked on your CNN link and note they don’t mention climate change. At least in New Zealand the media is starting to link our extreme weather events to climate change. Apparently the US media continues to maintain its conspiracy of silence.
