  1. I have not heard of any proposal for a pilot program of this type in the states. Maybe, it’s just gotten past me if there was such a proposal. However, I don’t think the politicians here are interested in helping Americans who are doing so poorly especially seeing as how the Trump Administration is dumping on Medicaid and Medicare and looking to increase the retirement age. That doesn’t sound to me like any pilot program for a Universal Basic Income is on any politician’s ‘to do’ list in the states. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

  2. Well, Shelby, your comment got me thinking, so I did a DuckDuckGo search and learned that a Gallup Poll this week revealed that 48% of Americans would support a Universal Basic Income. When I searched about politicians who support it I found that Hillary flipflopped, and Obama, Joe Biden, and Bernie Sanders supported it. Hawaii is the only state that actually passed legislation exploring a UBI. I have a feeling the only way this is going to happen in either the US or Canada is to do it state by state or province by province. The federal government in both states is too corrupted by Wall Street to pass anything but defense budgets, austerity cuts and free trade treaties.
