1. Probably because ” The Flu Shot,” dis not vaccinate against the strain of flu, that is most prevalent. So many viruses. So many strains. As a health professional, i feel most flu shots are a scam.

   • Good point, Ken. I also now that we need to focus more on building healthy intestinal bacteria, which scientists are discovering is the basis for the human immune system. The problem with health care under a capitalist system is that doctors tend to focus on approaches that increase profits for drug companies and vaccine makers instead of what really helps people.

2. The fact of the matter is that a flu shot will NOT protect 100% of the people who receive one from getting the flu for the simple reason being that as individuals, how our bodies process vaccines, antibiotics and other medicines is not an exact science. What works for some, will not work for others. It’s like playing Russian Roulette. As far as I am concerned, I will take my chances which means, I don’t get a flu shot. Not happening because I don’t like things injected into me since I really don’t know what it is.

3. I don’t do flu shots, either, Shelby. According to the CDC it’s only 9% effective in people over 60. They’re heavily promoted in people over 60 here. I try to get a clear answer from the clinic I’m registered with (under a national health service). The only one I can get so far is the government gives them incentives (money) for the number of seniors they inject with flu vaccine. I understand US hospitals operative under a similar scheme with insurance companies – so all patients get flu vaccines even if they’re admitted for trauma or surgery.
