Trump To Delay Signing Tax Bill So The Devastating Impacts Aren’t Felt Until After Midterms

Trump and his Republican allies in Congress know they sold the country an expensive bill of goods that will harm millions of people, whether it’s through higher taxes, the dismantling of Obamacare, or a spike in insurance costs. But they want to avoid these devastating effects as long as possible, particularly with a midterm election around the corner.

Celebrations aside, President Trump may wait until next year to sign the tax bill into law, delaying $120 billion in automatic cuts to popular programs such as Medicare and sparing Republicans from having to explain them in an election year.

Here’s why: If Trump signs the tax bill this month, it could trigger steep automatic spending cuts early next year to a raft of programs. But if Trump waits until January to sign the bill, the spending cuts would be delayed until 2019 — after next year’s congressional elections — giving lawmakers a full year to prevent them.

In other words, Trump and his Republican allies in Congress know they sold the country an expensive bill of goods that will harm millions of people, whether it’s through higher taxes, the dismantling of Obamacare, or a spike in insurance costs. 1. Well, if people cannot figure out why there is a delay in Trump signing this bill into law, then there is nothing I can say since there are many articles out there explaining just how horrific this bill really is and how detrimental to millions, it will be.

There will soon be no safety net at all seeing as how HUD Secretary, Ben Carson has already made it clear that the poor who are receiving HUD assistance need to get off the dole and pull themselves up by their own bootstraps like his ‘mama’ did. To him, those who are receiving housing assistance are mere layabouts who have no ‘get up and go’ about them. Never mind the fact that many are disabled and have been declared ‘unemployable’ by the Social Security Administration. Why those people just need a nudge out of their wheelchairs and breathing tubes and they’ll be fit as a fiddle and able to take care of their own housing needs because he is absolutely sure that there is work for people with traumatic brain injury and who are sitting in wheelchairs in adult diapers.

And now they have a plan for the seniors on Medicare. Gut Medicare and make those poor seniors who have lost their pensions thanks to mismanagement by public officials, go back to work at 80 so that they can make up the difference because who in the world should have medical problems at the age of 65-90?

I do believe that the suicide rate is about to spike again since who in the world can be having a jolly time of it with this mess staring them in the face?

  2. You make the future look pretty bleak for Americans, seniors especially, Shelby. And rightly so. From an economic point of view, I suppose they decided there was still too much surplus value in the baby boom generation and the ruling elite decided they could squeeze still more out of them.

One thing they forgot, though, is that seniors aren’t addicted to their smartphone and computers. And they still vote – and protest. In the last opinion poll I looked at 55% opposed the tax cuts. So I think Trump and his cronies may have miscalculated.

I wonder how Fox News covered the tax cut – that’s the network US seniors watch. I have a hunch they will re-elect a Democratic Congress next fall – though I’m not sure what good it will do unless a few more Dems find a backbone.

    • Since only spineless jellyfish are floating around Washington these days, we can be sure that a Democratic Congress will not help matters, unfortunately, even though not one Democratic senator voted with the Repugs on this massive tax ‘overhaul’ bill. But the sad fact is that the Dems cannot get their act together and that is partly why we have this current fiasco playing out.
