  1. So, does this mean that they intend to throw more psych meds at the problem? They have labeled it, “an imbalance in the brain” and isn’t that what they do to all other “imbalances in the brain?” Throw a pill at it?

Let us continue the hype that life without a smartphone would be unbearable and so therefore, “Take this pill and play with your smartphone.” That should do the trick because we all know that corporations are going to continue to attempt to add new features to those smartphones to outdo each other in smartphone technology and people are going to continue to line up to buy them. My own son is guilty as sin of this. There is never anything wrong with his smartphone when another one comes down the pike and it’s a case of “Out with the not so old and in with the brand spanking new.” He will spend $1,000 on a damn phone, but refuse to pay rent to keep a roof over his head. For the love of !!!!!

    • I definitely share your sentiments, Shelby. Smartphones have augmented corporate power like no other technology, especially as they incorporate the technology to track every single thing you do on-line. At the moment, 64% of people get their news from Smartphones. I see this as especially dangerous owing to the algorithms record what you click on and then offer up similar sites assuming this is what you want to see. This apparently causes a rush of dopamine (the feel good neurotransmitter) – people love being proven right when so many other people reinforce their views.

As far as I can see, Smartphone addiction is no different from gambling addiction – and fortunately they haven’t found any pills for that.

      Thanks for your comment.
