This just makes the argument FOR local community organizing with our neighbors who will be just as impacted as we will by disasters. We should ALL get to know our neighbors because we shall soon need each other to survive. Don’t expect help from billionaires or the government. Just look at what Trump is doing to Puerto Rico and remember, the U.S. is broke, but our so-called representatives are not. Go figure!

Absolutely. When I lived in Seattle, there used to be an “earthquake lady.” Groups of neighbors could contact her to meet with them and help them prepare for a disaster. They would all divide up tasks, one household would collect the wood, one the dried beans, one the water, one would take responsibility for checking for gas leaks and the elderly, etc.

And that, folks, is how it’s done! Thanks Dr. Bramhall!
