DAMASCUS, SYRIA (2:00 A.M.) – With virtually all Euphrates River bridges in Syria destroyed by the US-led coalition amid a wider bid to defeat the Islamic State, China has meanwhile agreed with the Syrian Government to invest two billion dollars in construction of industrial parks across the country, an important step in restoring the war-torn country’s infrastructure.

The agreement was ratified at the First Trade Fair in Qin Yong on July 9 and enables Chinese companies to begin construction on a total of 150 enterprises.

“China, Russia, and Iran have provided substantial support to Syria during the military conflict. Therefore, it is these three countries that will a major role in the reconstruction of Syria,” the Syrian ambassador said during a press conference on the matter.

  1. People might be sensing in these days that warmongers are going the way of the dinosaur – going extinct – and that the advocates for war are beginning to realize a new personal worldview focused on building peace needs rapid development or one risks being “left behind” – on the wrong side of history. War “isn’t cutting it” for humanity any longer, a new societal shift for which there is reason for thankfulness.

Then again, one making such an observation may have become to an extent addicted to their “rose-colored glasses”, holding perceptions out of accord with facts on the ground, and/or conveying thoughts/discernments which are overly optimistic.

  2. I suspect you’re right Jerry. I strong sense that the US is in retreat – economically, politically and militarily. And what we see now is a a kind of scorched earth phenomenon. The US oligarchy knows they can’t win so they just want to make life as miserable as possible for the rest of us. Thanks for commenting.

  3. Well, I do hope that China will have a serious problem with the U.S. destroying what China is investing in in Syria. Because if the U.S. intends to continue to bomb the hell out of Syria, it would seem a waste of money on the part of the Chinese people.

And by now, who in the world has no idea that the U.S. is all about the business of destroying and killing, rather than on building and negotiating peace? I’ve read today that Trump has reneged on yet another campaign promise; that of fixing up America’s infrastructure. No surprise there.

  4. In my view, Shelby, this has been a very shrewd move on the part of the Chinese. I suspect this has been much of Trump’s motivation in agreeing to the current Syrian ceasefire and telling the CIA to quit funding ISIS.
