Trump doubles down on bid to grab Greenland – what’s really behind it?

By Hamid Javadi

US President Donald Trump has dramatically stepped up efforts to seize control of Greenland by dispatching Vice President JD Vance, an Ohio native, to visit the mineral-rich, semi-autonomous territory of Denmark, which the United States has eyed for over 150 years.

Addressing US troops at Pituffik Space Base on Greenland’s northwestern coast on Friday, Vance delivered Trump’s message unequivocally. He made it clear that the American president’s ultimate goal is to claim Greenland for the United States, by force if necessary.

“We do not believe that military force will ever be necessary,” Vance said—not so much to sound reassuring as to subtly warn that military action could, in fact, be an option.

This would not be the first time for the United States to send troops to seize Greenland. During the Second World War, the US occupied the island after Germany captured Denmark. In 1949, Washington relinquished its claim on Greenland after Denmark joined the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) military alliance.

While at the US military base, Vance took aim at Denmark, a longtime NATO ally, accusing the Nordic kingdom of failing to adequately protect the island’s security.

“Our message to Denmark is very simple: You have not done a good job by the people of Greenland,” he said. “You have underinvested in the people of Greenland, and you have underinvested in the security architecture of this incredible, beautiful landmass filled with incredible people. That has to change.”

Trump’s deputy said Greenland would be better off partnering with the United States.

The rebuke of a longstanding ally came shortly after Greenland formed a broad-based coalition government that excludes hardliners advocating swift independence from Denmark.

Greenland was a colony of Denmark from 1721 until 1953, when it became a formal territory under the Danish constitution. In 2009, the island gained broad self-governing autonomy, including the right to declare independence through a referendum.

A majority of Greenland’s 57,000 inhabitants are in favor of independence, but many fear that breaking away from Denmark too soon could expose the island to a new colonial master—the United States.

Why is Greenland so important to the US?

Trump is not the first American president to eye Greenland. The idea of acquiring the world’s largest island has surfaced multiple times in US history, with notable internal discussions occurring in 1867, 1910, 1946, 1955, and most recently under Trump in 2019 and 2025.

Straddling the Arctic Circle between the US, Russia, and Europe, the island holds a unique geopolitical advantage that has drawn Washington’s interest for over a century and a half.

Trump first made waves with his offer to buy Greenland during his first term, but he has taken his desire to “own” the island to a whole new level since returning to the White House for a second term in January.

“I think we’re going to get it,” Trump said in his congressional address in March. “One way or the other, we’re going to get it.”

The US’s interest in Greenland is a microcosm of its broader Arctic strategy—a bid to secure economic interests, project power under the pretext of national security, and counter the growing influence of rival powers in this strategically vital region.

With tensions already running high, the timing of Vance’s visit—just weeks after Greenland’s parliamentary elections—has ruffled feathers in both Greenland and Denmark.

Relations between Greenland and Denmark have long been strained, as many Greenlanders continue to harbor grievances over colonial-era mistreatment. However, Trump’s aggressive push for Greenland has spurred Denmark to improve its ties with the semi-autonomous island.

Before Vance’s arrival, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen congratulated Greenland’s new prime minister, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, and his incoming government. “I look forward to close cooperation in an unnecessarily conflict-filled time,” she said.

Trump sees Greenland, whose capital, Nuuk, is closer to New York than to Copenhagen, as a key asset for US national security. He has frequently threatened to seize the island through a financial transaction or military force since his return to the Oval Office.

Is it about national Security, or lack thereof?

How does Greenland factor into US national security calculations? The Arctic island lies along the shortest route from Europe to North America, making it critical to the US ballistic missile warning system.

The United States already has a significant military presence in Greenland through the Pituffik Space Base, which supports missile warning and space surveillance operations for NATO.

During the Cold War, the base served as an early warning post for potential Soviet missile strikes. Today, it offers a uniquely strategic location for air and submarine surveillance.

The United States has made it clear that it wants to expand its military presence on the island, with plans to install radars to monitor the waters connecting Greenland, Iceland, and Britain, a gateway frequently traversed by Russian naval ships and nuclear submarines.

Acquiring Greenland outright would significantly expand America’s Arctic claim, bolstering its influence over the region.

How are minerals driving the US interest in Arctic island?

But there is certainly more to US interest in Greenland than just security concerns.

Economically, Greenland heavily relies on its fishing industry, which accounts for over 95 percent of exports, and on Denmark’s annual subsidies, which cover about half of the island’s public budget.

In recent years, some Greenlandic politicians have considered a “free association” with the US, whereby they would swap Danish subsidies for American support while maintaining autonomy, similar to arrangements with the Marshall Islands, Micronesia, and Palau.

Trump’s aggressive stance has disrupted those discussions.

About 80 percent of Greenland is covered with ice, some of it a mile thick. As global warming accelerates Arctic ice melt, the region has become a hotbed of international competition, with the US vying against rivals for control over its untapped natural resources and emerging shipping routes.

As the ice continues to recede, ironically due to pollution from major emitters like the US and China, Greenland’s minerals and rare earth metals are becoming even more enticing.

A White House official recently stated that Greenland’s rare earth minerals, a collection of 25 “critical raw materials” essential for industries ranging from smartphones to weapons systems, are sufficient to power the US economy for the next generation.

How is US unnerved by growing Chinese presence in the region?

For the United States, controlling Greenland could mean reducing its reliance on China for these precious resources. Once a leading producer of rare earths, the US has since been surpassed by China. Now, Washington seeks to reclaim its dominance by tapping into resource-rich lands closer to home.

Additionally, Greenland’s shipping routes hold particular significance for Trump as he escalates his trade war with traditional US trading partners.

The Arctic routes offer a shortcut for global trade, reducing travel distances between Asia, Europe, and North America by approximately 40 percent compared to traditional routes like the Suez or Panama Canals.

This makes control over the Arctic highly appealing for the United States, both economically and strategically, especially as rival powers like Russia and China expand their presence in the region.

“We need to wake up from a failed, 40-year consensus that said that we could ignore the encroachment of powerful countries as they expand their ambitions,” Vance told US troops at the military base.

“We can’t just bury our head in the sand—or, in Greenland, bury our head in the snow—and pretend that the Chinese are not interested in this very large landmass.”

Greenland now finds itself at the center of a geopolitical rivalry, with its economic future and sovereignty hanging in the balance.

Greenland’s story is quickly becoming a tug-of-war between the US, Denmark, and other global powers, with its people caught in the middle. It is a modern tale of the age-old conflict between colonial ambitions and the fight for independence and self-determination.

Whether it’s about national security, minerals, trade, or geopolitical rivalry, Greenland’s future now hinges on whether it can chart its own path toward independence amid growing external pressure.

Police arrested Jonatan Urich and Eli Feldstein, top aides to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as suspects in the so-called Qatargate scandal on Monday, just as the attorney general ordered the police to summon the premier for testimony in the ongoing probe.

The prime minister’s motorcade arrived at his office early Monday evening, where he was questioned by investigators in the police’s Lahav 433 major crimes unit.

Netanyahu left the Tel Aviv District Court Monday morning, cutting short his criminal trial on corruption charges, to give testimony regarding the alleged unlawful financial ties between his senior staffers and Qatar.

According to a source in Lahav 433 quoted by the Kan public broadcaster, police “gave the prime minister the option of coming to give open testimony [either] today or on another day, but he chose to come today and stop the hearing of his case in court.”

According to a Channel 12 report from before the testimony, the prime minister was to be questioned as someone with knowledge of the affair, rather than as a suspect. The decision as to whether to subsequently question Netanyahu under caution, meaning as a suspect in the case, would be made following his open testimony.

In a very brief statement to the press earlier in the day, the police said that Urich and Feldstein were arrested as suspects within the framework of the investigation.

During the course of the morning, Netanyahu’s attorney Amit Hadad left him in the Tel Aviv courthouse to assist Urich and Feldstein, both of whom are also his clients.

The probe was launched following revelations that Netanyahu’s former spokesman Feldstein — who has been charged with harming national security in a case involving the theft and leaking of classified IDF documents — worked for Qatar via an international firm contracted by Doha to feed Israeli journalists pro-Qatar stories, all while employed in the PMO.

Ordered by Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara in late February, the investigation is being conducted by Lahav 433 and the Shin Bet.

Investigators also summoned a journalist Monday to give testimony, which later turned into questioning under caution, as part of the probe. Hebrew media outlets reported that police suspect the unnamed reporter of contact with a foreign agent, but law enforcement did not issue an official statement on the matter.

A police source told Haaretz that law enforcement had obtained the necessary clearance from the State Attorney’s Office to question the suspect, as required for interrogating journalists.

Earlier in March, police questioned both Feldstein and Urich on suspicion of contacting a foreign agent, fraud, money laundering, and bribery. No further details were made available for publication due to a court-imposed gag order on the case.

Last November, it was reported that top Netanyahu aides Urich and Yisrael Einhorn did public relations work for Qatar ahead of the 2022 World Cup as part of the latter’s PR firm Perception, corresponding to the start date of the probe’s time frame.

Police have been seeking to question Einhorn, who now resides in Serbia as an adviser to the country’s President Aleksandar Vučić, as part of the investigation but have struggled due to his living abroad.

On Sunday, Hebrew news outlet Walla reported that Ariel Shafir, a close associate of Urich also formerly employed at Einhorn’s firm, arranged meetings between senior Israeli officials — including a government minister — Gulf-based Israeli businessman Gil Birger and pro-Qatari lobbyist Jay Footlik.

Iran will admit students expelled from US as part of Trump’s crackdown on pro-Palestine protests

US police crack down on demonstrators as they rally in support of Palestine and to protest the arrest and detention of Mahmoud Khalil outside of Columbia University on March 24, 2025, in New York City. (AFP)

Press TV

Iran’s academic officials have declared the Islamic Republic’s unwavering support for students and academics who have been targeted by the Trump administration’s crackdown on pro-Palestinian protesters on university campuses.

Officials from Iran’s academic institutions said in a joint statement on Sunday that the country’s universities “take pride in extending their support” to students protesting “the crimes of the Zionist regime” in the US.

“The acts of global arrogance in suppressing justice-seeking students and expelling them from American universities after their peaceful protests against the atrocities committed by the Zionist regime against the oppressed people of Palestine have further unveiled the true nature of those who claim to advocate for human rights,” the statement read.

Iran’s universities, it said, are ready to accept students who are being expelled by US immigration officials for showing sympathy for the Palestinian cause.

Iran’s Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution (SCCR), in collaboration with the Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Medical Sciences, will facilitate the admission of expelled students into Iranian universities.

President Donald Trump has begun following through on a threat to deport all non-citizen university activists with ties to the pro-Palestine protests, which rocked the US last spring, with students staging daily protests in college campuses across the country for weeks.

The crackdown intensified since US immigration agents arrested Mahmoud Kahlil, a graduate of Columbia University, on March 8. Kahlil, who is being held in an immigration detention center in Louisiana, faces deportation for his role in pro-Palestinian campus protests.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who personally signed off on his arrest, said on Thursday that Washington has revoked at least 300 foreign students’ visas.

“Maybe more than 300 at this point,” he said. “We do it every day, every time I find one of these lunatics.”

Trump officials have accused these students of being “adversarial to the foreign policy and national security interests” of the US.

Why Did Government Shut Down Cellphone Radiation Studies? Email Trail Leads to More Questions Than Answers

words "FOIA" and cellphone with radiation symbol on it

By Suzanne Burdick, Ph.D.

The NIH produced only 14 pages of emails in response to a CHD FOIA request for all communications between key officials and researchers regarding the NTP’s discontinued RFR follow-up studies.

In January 2024, the National Toxicology Program (NTP) announced it had no plans to further study the effects of cellphone radiofrequency radiation (RFR) on human health — even though the program’s own $30 million study found “clear evidence” of cancer and DNA damage.

In April 2024, Children’s Health Defense (CHD) filed requests to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to obtain records related to why the government shut down the research — NIH produced records that included 2,500 fully redacted pages.

As part of The Defender’s ongoing investigation into why the government shut down its studies on wireless radiation, CHD FOIA’d all emails related to communications among key NTP officials and researchers from Feb. 1, 2023, to Feb. 1, 2024.

However, the NIH produced only 14 emails — none of them revealed who made the decision to stop the research or provided detailed information about why the research was halted.

The NTP’s two-year study of 2G and 3G cellphone radiation, published in 2018, found “clear evidence” of malignant heart tumors in male rats, “some evidence” of malignant brain tumors in male rats, and “some evidence” of benign, malignant and complex combined adrenal gland tumors in male rats.

After the study’s findings were published, researchers began conducting follow-up studies, according to a February 2023 fact sheet.

However, the NTP in January 2024 announced via an updated fact sheet that it was abandoning further investigation of wireless radiation’s biological effects because “the research was technically challenging and more resource-intensive than expected.”

The NTP is an “interagency program composed of, and supported by” the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and NIH, according to the agency’s website.

Paul Héroux, Ph.D., told The Defender that if NTP’s leadership wanted to make their statement credible, they should or could have publicly explained those difficulties.

Héroux is an associate professor of medicine at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and a medical scientist in McGill University Health Center’s surgery department. He is also vice chair of the International Commission on the Biological Effects of Electromagnetic Fields, a “consortium of scientists, doctors and researchers” who study wireless radiation and make recommendations for wireless radiation exposure guidelines “based on the best peer-reviewed research publications.”

According to Héroux, there definitely would have been “scientists willing to help” overcome any technical challenges.

In April 2024, CHD filed two FOIA requests. The FOIA didn’t allow CHD to ask the government why it stopped the research, said CHD Staff Attorney Risa Evans, who wrote the requests.

“Unlike a deposition, the FOIA doesn’t give a right to ask questions or demand an explanation for a decision,” Evans said. “Instead, it allows members of the public to request agency records related to topics they want to investigate.”

CHD’s first FOIA request sought details about what the planned follow-up studies entailed.

The second FOIA request asked for all communications between key officials and researchers from Feb. 1, 2023, to Feb. 1, 2024 — when NTP appeared to be conducting follow-up studies and when it decided to discontinue them.

The FOIA request named four employees:

  • Robert C. Sills, DVM, Ph.D., who at the time was the acting scientific director of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences’ (NIEHS) Division of Translational Toxicology (DTT). Scientists with DTT were the ones conducting the follow-up studies, according to the NTP website.
  • Rick Woychik, Ph.D., director of NIEHS, who sets the budget for NIEHS, including DTT, according to Devra Davis, Ph.D., MPH, a toxicologist and epidemiologist who founded the Environmental Health Trust.
  • Nigel J. Walker, Ph.D., acting chief of DTT’s Systems Toxicology Branch, who was thought to be responsible for managing the follow-up studies, according to a former government scientist who chose to remain anonymous.
  • Stephanie Smith-Roe, Ph.D., the DTT scientist who was the first author of the NTP’s 2019 follow-up study that looked at a subset of data from the 2018 study. Smith-Roe was thought to be supervising subsequent follow-up studies, according to a former government scientist who chose to remain anonymous. However, slides obtained by CHD later revealed Michael Wyde, not Smith-Roe, as the follow-up studies’ lead scientist.

The request sought “all communications (including but not limited to emails, text messages, instant chat messages, and any other electronic or written communications) sent or received (whether as a direct recipient, or cc or bcc) … discussing or mentioning the follow-up rodent studies described above, including but not limited to the following topics:

  • The conduct of the follow-up studies.
  • The transmission of follow-up study data for interpretation, evaluation, or review.
  • Funding for the follow-up studies.
  • Termination of the follow-up studies.

The NIH said in a Jan. 31 letter to CHD that it found only 14 pages of emails responsive to CHD’s request — and none of them involved communications before the decision to stop the research.

Linda Birnbaum, Ph.D., who directed NTP from 2009 to 2019 and oversaw NTP’s 2018 study, said it’s possible that whoever chose to halt the studies “decided they weren’t going to have anything in writing.”

Miriam Eckenfels, director of CHD’s Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR) & Wireless Program, said:

“It’s concerning that there were apparently no written communications involving Woychik or Sills in the months leading up to NTP’s announcement that it was abandoning the research. These officials were most likely aware that the research was being discontinued. What role did they play in the decision?”

Davis, with the Environmental Health Trust, reviewed CHD’s FOIA results. She said many questions are left unanswered, including:

  • Was the decision made from above the director of NIEHS or is it simply that the new director or those directing him chose to avoid controversy?
  • Was there any communication between the Federal Communications Commission and NIH about this? or between the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the NIEHS?
  • What role did the director of NIH play in squashing the RFR studies?

NIH scientists, PR staff struggle with response to editor of Microwave News

The 14 disclosed pages all pertained to questions Louis Slesin asked in late January 2024 when he noticed NTP had updated its fact sheet to say it discontinued the research.

Slesin is the editor of Microwave News, an online news outlet that has reported on the potential health and environmental impacts of electromagnetic fields and radiation for over 40 years.

The emails reveal communications between NIH scientists and public relations staff as they crafted a response to questions from Slesin about the results of the follow-up studies.

After the NTP’s 2018 study of 2G and 3G cellphone radiation was published, NIH researchers built a new wireless radiation exposure system for conducting smaller follow-up studies, according to the NTP webpage.

According to Slesin, the webpage failed to clarify what kinds of results were obtained in the follow-up studies.

On Jan. 30, 2024, he emailed Robin Mackar, former media relations coordinator for the Office of Communications and Public Liaison in the NIEHS.

NIEHS is one of the NIH’s 27 institutes and centers. Mackar worked at NIEHS from January 2022 until her retirement in June 2024, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Slesin wrote:

“It is not clear from what you have posted on the NTP website … whether what will be published are the results of the testing of the new (smaller) exposure system, or the results of follow-up studies using the new exposure system?

“That is, can you tell me whether experiments were carried out with the new exposure system or did the NTP team complete the ‘feasibility testing’ and then decide not to pursue additional experiments?”

The resulting email thread from Jan. 30 to Feb. 1, 2024, reveals internal deliberations between Mackar, three NIH scientists and two NIH communications staff about what to tell Slesin.

Named in the emails were Mackar; Michael Wyde, Ph.D., toxicologist; Nigel Walker, Ph.D., staff scientist; Georgia Roberts, Ph.D., staff scientist; Mary Wolfe, Ph.D., DTT deputy director for policy and communication; and Christine Flowers, director of NIEHS’ Office of Communications and Public Liaison.

DTT is under NIEHS and commonly supports NTP projects.

NIEHS takes over a week to acknowledge Slesin’s questions

The 14 pages of emails provide more questions than answers as to why the NTP chose to stop studying wireless radiation, said Eckenfels.

For instance, Wyde’s Jan. 30, 2024, email to the group suggested that the NTP, at some point, may have had plans to study RFR, just not using the new exposure system the researchers tested.

In the email, Wyde proposed a response to Slesin for the group to review and edit. However, his response included a sentence that had been struck through.

The omitted sentence said, “Efforts will be refocused in other areas where contributions can be made to understanding the potential effects of RF exposure on public health.”

No one on the email thread suggested adding the omitted sentence back in.

“The omitted sentence raises questions,” said Eckenfels. “Did the NTP have plans to refocus efforts so it could still study the effect of RFR on public health? If not, why was that sentence ever there in the first place? Why was it omitted?”

The emails also showed that NIEHS was initially unresponsive to Slesin when he first asked the agency when and where results from the follow-up studies would be made public.

Slesin first emailed NIEHS’ Office of Communications and Public Liaison on Jan. 17, 2024. He wrote:

“What can you tell me about when and where these results will be released?

“Journals? If so, how many papers are you preparing? Conference abstracts? Which meetings? In-house reports?”

NIEHS didn’t immediately respond. Two days later, Slesin wrote again asking when he might receive a reply.

NIEHS still didn’t respond.

On Jan. 24, 2024, Slesin tried again. “A week after my request, not even an acknowledgment,” he wrote. “Really?”

Later that day, Mackar wrote to Slesin, apologizing for not acknowledging his initial email and NIEHS’ delayed response. “We will be back in touch soon with a bit more info,” Mackar said.

It is unclear why NIEHS initially failed to respond to Slesin’s Jan. 17, 2024, email.

Slesin reviewed CHD’s FOIA results but declined to comment.

The Defender reached out repeatedly via email and phone to all NIEHS employees named in the emails with questions about their communications. None responded.

On Feb. 12, Flowers took The Defender’s phone call but declined to answer any questions. She said she and the other NIEHS members contacted by The Defender were working to put together a response.

The Defender then emailed Flowers additional questions to address in NIEHS’ response, including:

  • Could you please define “feasibility” (i.e., cost-wise, managing the RFR signal accuracy, keeping the animals alive, etc.)?
  • Were the scientists who designed the new exposure system the same scientists who tested it?
  • Were independent consultants brought in to troubleshoot the feasibility issues before the NIEHS scientists decided to abandon plans to continue researching RFR?

The Defender has not yet received a response from NIEHS.

Thousands march in Paris against military aid to Ukraine

Thousands march in Paris against military aid to Ukraine (VIDEOS)

French President Emmanuel Macron recently announced €2 billion more in arms for Kiev

Thousands of demonstrators marched through the streets of Paris on Saturday, protesting French President Emmanuel Macron’s and NATO’s militaristic approach to the Ukraine conflict.

On Wednesday, Macron announced a new €2 billion ($2.16 billion) military aid package for Ukraine, after weeks of attempting to drum up support for his initiative to send Western troops as peacekeepers to the country. The new arms will include surface-to-air missiles, armored vehicles and drones, the French leader said.

Saturday’s anti-war rally was organized by former right-wing National Rally politician Florian Philippot and his party, The Patriots.

Thousands of protesters could be seen marching through the French capital, chanting slogans such as “Macron, we don’t want your war!” and “Let’s quickly leave NATO!” in video captured by RT.

Many could also be seen waving placards with the motto “Macron, we will not die for Ukraine.”

“A mad crowd for #Peace… Thousands and thousands of French people are shouting ‘Macron, resign!’ in the streets of Paris right now!” Philippot wrote on X on Saturday.

The Patriots protested in the French capital earlier this month after Macron proposed deploying France’s nuclear weapons in other European allied states, citing uncertainty over Washington’s commitment to the continent.

On Thursday, following an international summit in Paris, Macron announced a French-British plan to push for the deployment of troops to Ukraine as a “reassurance force” in the event of a ceasefire between Kiev and Moscow. Macron first touched on the idea of sending Western troops into Ukraine last February.

Russia has categorically ruled out agreeing to NATO troops being deployed to the conflict zone. Troops from the US-led military bloc, even under the guise of peacekeepers, would amount to direct NATO participation in the conflict, according to Moscow.

Panama Canal Deal Derailed After Beijing Launches Anti-Trust Probe

Zero Hedge

Chinese authorities have been furious over Hong Kong billionaire Li Ka-shing’s deal to sell Panama Canal ports to a consortium of investors that includes BlackRock, following pressure from President Trump as the US moves to bolster hemispheric defense—a massive security effort in which Panama plays a critical role.

A new report from the South China Morning Post said Friday morning that Li’s flagship CK Hutchison Holdings, “will not go ahead with the expected signing of a deal next week to sell its two strategic ports at the Panama Canal … with Beijing saying it will launch an antitrust probe into the sale.”

There were multiple reports this week that Beijing was tightening the screws on Li’s CK Hutchison to stop the sale to BlackRock next week.

In one such report, The Telegraph noted, “Chinese authorities have effectively blacklisted CK Hutchison and the business interests of the Li family by telling Chinese state-backed firms they will struggle to get regulatory approval for any work involving the group.”

Here’s more from SCMP’s report:

Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka-shing’s CK Hutchison Holdings will not go ahead with the expected signing of a deal next week to sell its two strategic ports at the Panama Canal, the Post has learned, with Beijing saying it will launch an antitrust probe into the sale.

The State Administration for Market Regulation said on Friday it was looking into CK Hutchison’s US$23 billion deal to sell 45 ports spread over 23 countries to a consortium led by United States investment firm BlackRock.

The investigation was announced after pro-Beijing media Wen Wei Po and Ta Kung Pao asked whether the deal required approval from the country’s antitrust review.

“We have noticed this transaction, and will review it in accordance with the law to ensure fair competition in the market and safeguard the public interest,” a spokesman from the anti-monopoly department under market regulator said in a written reply.

The watchdog did not reveal when the investigation would be launched.

The department is responsible for conducting antitrust reviews and providing guidance to companies over their response to mitigate risk and ensure compliance overseas.

What’s evident is that the sale of the Panama ports, including Balboa and Cristobal on either side of the canal, to the consortium that includes BlackRock has put the HK billionaire in the direct firing line of the Peoples Republic of China.

In a separate report on the temporarily derailed deal, the Wall Street Journal cited sources familiar with the negotiations who said the April 2nd deadline will not be met.

Here’s more color on what sources are saying:

Some of the people said the delay in signing the documents and Beijing’s regulatory review didn’t mean that the deal would be called off—only that a little more time was needed. Others said Beijing believed it might be able to force a more substantial delay or rethinking of the deal.

People involved in the negotiations and outside analysts have said they expect the deal would ultimately go through. They pointed to the risks for Beijing if it appeared to block a commercial transaction that doesn’t involve ports in mainland China or Hong Kong.

. . .

Chinese officials have telegraphed to Hutchison that they would call in BlackRock for a regulatory review if the parties went ahead with the transaction, people familiar with the matter said. Antitrust officials have started examining BlackRock’s businesses, especially its investments in China, some of the people said.

CK Hutchison has denied the sale was politically motivated, while HK newspapers slammed the deal, calling it “a spineless kneeling, profit-seeking and unrighteous act, ignoring national interests and national justice, and betraying and selling out all Chinese people.”

The HK paper Ta Kung Pao warned that BlackRock could charge “special docking fees” to Chinese commercial ships and “suppress China’s development” in the region.

More broadly, China is expected to fight tooth and nail to block Trump’s hemispheric strategy in the Americas—from Canada to Greenland to Panama. But this will only push Trump to escalate the trade war until the communists in Beijing say “uncle.”

RFK Jr. to Create CDC Sub-agency Focused on Vaccine Injuries

cdc logo and broken vaccine bottle

Vaccine safety advocates hailed HHS Secretary Kennedy’s plan to create an agency within the CDC focused on vaccine injuries and also long COVID and Lyme disease. In an interview with Chris Cuomo, Kennedy also revealed that when he asked an HHS agency for patient data, he was told he’d have to purchase it.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is creating a new sub-agency under the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that will focus on vaccine injuries.

During an interview Thursday night with Chris Cuomo on “NewsNation,” HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said:

“We’re incorporating an agency within CDC that is going to specialize in vaccine injuries.

“These are priorities for the American people. More and more people are suffering from these injuries, and we are committed to having gold-standard science to make sure that we can figure out what the treatments are and that we can deliver the best treatments possible to the American people.”

Kennedy said the sub-agency is part of a broader focus on conditions that include long COVID and Lyme disease.

He said the pathway to creating the sub-agency wasn’t easy, elaborating on what he said Thursday, when he announced a major restructuring of HHS and the agencies it oversees, that when he requested data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), an HHS agency, he was told HHS would have to purchase it.

Kennedy told Cuomo:

“I tried to get the CMS patient information, which belongs to the American people and belongs to HHS, and the sub-agencies said we have to buy it from them, and it doesn’t make any sense. This is depersonalized data, and we need it to Make America Healthy Again.”

In February, shortly after being confirmed to run HHS, Kennedy promised that under his watch, HHS and CDC would establish a better system for tracking vaccine injuries.

On March 10, Reuters reported that unnamed sources within the CDC leaked that the agency was planning to do a study on the possible link between vaccines and autism. The story triggered an avalanche of negative mainstream news reports claiming the study isn’t needed.

On March 13, President Donald Trump pulled the nomination of Dr. David Weldon, an outspoken advocate for studying the link between autism and vaccines, after it became clear Weldon couldn’t snag the necessary number of votes.

Just this week, The Washington Post, citing anonymous sources, reported that HHS had tapped researcher David Geier — a researcher and expert on the connections between toxic exposures and autism — to lead a study of possible links between vaccines and autism. The Post, followed by other media outlets, used the opportunity to attack Geier and the need for such a study.

‘Critical safety signals may have been buried’

Brian Hooker, Ph.D., chief scientific officer for Children’s Health Defense, welcomed Kennedy’s announcement, describing it as an “excellent” development.

“It is also very sad that agencies within the HHS are ‘selling’ data to other agencies rather than having broad data-sharing both within the HHS, as well as with independent scientists,” Hooker said. “If we are ever going to get to the bottom of the causes of the chronic disease epidemic, independent researchers will need all of the relevant information that our tax dollars have paid for over so many years.”

Research scientist and author James Lyons-Weiler, Ph.D., called the announcement “a historic and long-overdue shift in public health accountability.”

He added:

“For decades, families of the vaccine-injured have been subjected to silence, stonewalling and denial by the very institutions tasked with ensuring safety. This new development is without question a step in the right direction.”

Biologist Christina Parks, Ph.D., who has studied vaccine injuries, said the new sub-agency “will legitimize the suffering of millions of Americans and people around the world who have suffered the agonizing effects of vaccine injury on their health or the health of a child or loved one.”

“Once the reality of vaccine injury is accepted, it will open the door to working with doctors to set a standard of care for acute vaccine injuries that has the potential to mitigate the damage caused by these events and speed recovery,” Parks said.

Nebraska chiropractor Ben Tapper, whose public questioning of the COVID-19 vaccines led the Center for Countering Digital Hate to add him — as well as figures like Kennedy — to its “Disinformation Dozen” list of the 12 “leading online anti-vaxxers” in 2021, also welcomed the announcement.

“This news feels like a long-overdue crack in the dam,” Tapper said. “For decades, we’ve been shouting on the rooftops — parents, researchers and victims alike — about the real harm these shots can cause, only to be dismissed as conspiracy nuts or told the science is ‘settled.’”

Tapper said that data on vaccine injuries has long been available — but ignored.

“If you know where to look, the data’s been there: VAERS reports, court payouts from the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program and countless studies buried or ignored by the mainstream. Now, they can’t pretend it’s not happening anymore.”

VAERS — the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System — is a government-run database of vaccine injury reports. Since the introduction of the COVID-19 vaccines, reports of vaccine-related injuries and deaths submitted to VAERS have significantly increased, while some have accused the government of undercounting reports.

“Vaccine injuries are real,” said Dr. Joel Wallskog, co-chair of React19, an advocacy group for vaccine injury victims. “COVID-19 vaccine injuries are real. There have been more adverse events in VAERS with the COVID-19 vaccines than all other vaccines combined.”

Wallskog added:

“The time has come for our country to stop the polarizing rhetoric about vaccine injuries. Creating a sub-agency to evaluate these injuries in a scientific manner — and not political — has the potential to help thousands, perhaps millions of people.”

Health freedom advocate Sayer Ji, co-founder of Stand for Health Freedom, called Kennedy’s announcement “an admission that the system has failed — and gravely.”

“That HHS departments were selling patient data and operating in silos reveals a cartel, not a public health institution. This is not reform — it’s rupture. And it opens the door to a new era of truth, accountability, and bodily sovereignty,” Ji said.

Lyons-Weiler suggested that critical data about vaccine injuries may have been overlooked as a result of the lack of communication within HHS.

“Critical safety signals may have been buried — not necessarily through conspiracy, but through a disjointed, profit-driven and overly bureaucratic system that prioritized internal control and proprietary access over transparency, accountability, and science,” Lyons-Weiler said.

Kennedy inherited an ‘incomprehensible’ organizational structure at HHS

During Thursday’s interview with Cuomo, Kennedy also addressed criticism over staff reductions at HHS. Kennedy said HHS “is the biggest agency in government, twice the size of the Pentagon” and that the cuts will not affect the agency’s focus on public health.

“We’re not going to cut services. We’re not going to cut Medicaid, we’re not going to cut Medicare. We’re going to continue. We’re going to provide services, but more efficiently,” Kennedy said.

When he took over as HHS secretary, Kennedy said he inherited a department with an “incomprehensible” organizational structure and with “no chain of command, where people [were] operating in all these different silos and fiefdoms.”

“What we’re trying to do now is to streamline the agency, to eliminate the redundancies and to focus the mission so that everybody who is at HHS is going to wake up every morning and say, ‘What am I going to do today to Make America Healthy Again?”

Kennedy also discussed the recently launched “Operation Stork Speed,” which will “improve our capacity to have good, nutritious baby formula for the American public that doesn’t have heavy metals or other poisons in it,” and HHS efforts to eliminate toxic dyes from the food supply.

“We’ve met with the major food processors and told them we want chemical dyes out of all of our foods,” Kennedy said.

Kennedy added that HHS is reforming the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to stop subsidizing the purchase of unhealthy products.

“We’re reforming every part of the agency to make sure that our food supply is good and that we have the healthiest kids in the world, which we had when I was a kid,” Kennedy said.

Dr David E Martin – The Covid Gain of Function Timeline

https://t.me/DrDavidMartin_Real/923

Follow the Telegram link above to hear Dr David E Martin’s March 3, 2025 speech at the Injection of Truth Healing Humanity conference in Calgary (Alberta) Canada. Martin is a former bioweapons inspector for the US and expert in patent law. He’s well known for tracing the gain of function patents that ultimately resulted in the Covid 19 virus.

In this presentation, he calls the Covid plandemic and mRNA vaccine rollout a mass planned genocide. Evidence obtained via patents research indicates that the lethality of individual components of the vaccine was known (based on published research by 2015). He calls for a truth and reconciliation process – similar to the one held in South Africa in the 1990s – that forces the architects of this genocide to publicly acknowledge their crimes against humanity and to EXPRESS CONTRITION.

In this speech, he lays out the following patent history:

  • 1965 (12 years after Watson and Crick unravel the structure of DNA) US biowarfare scientists identify coronavirus as the best viral bioweapon because they could use it to infect people with other organisms.
  • 2000 – Pfizer files for the first patent on the coronavirus spike protein.
  • April 20, 2003 CDC files for first patent on for the (human) SARS coronovirus
  • April 22 2003 Sequoia Pharmaceuticals files for patent on antiviral agent for the treatment and control of the (human) SARS coronavirus. the same coronavirus. Clearly there was a preexising relationship behind the scenes.*
  • 2010 Darwinian Chemical Systems receive 10-year National Science Foundation grant to transfer coronovirus mRNA into human mRNA, leading to the formation of Moderna biotechnology company.
  • 2011 – WHO declares The Decade of Vaccines, announcing by September 2020 there will be a universal vaccine accepted globally and promoted by both the US and Chinese Centers for Disease Control.
  • 2015 – National Center for Biotechnology Information publishes “Rapid Medical Countermeasure Response to Infectious Diseases: Enabling Sustainable Capabilities Through Ongoing Public- and Private-Sector Partnerships: Workshop Summary. Developing MCMs for Coronaviruses.”*
  • 2018 – famous patent lawsuit between the University of British Columbia (whose Covid vaccine research was funded by the Wellcome Trust), Moderna and Pfizer over who owns the lipid nanoparticles in the Covid vaccine.**

*Martin highlights the following excerpt:

“To sustain the funding base beyond the crisis, we need to increase public understanding of the need for MCMs (medical countermeasures), such as pan-influenza on pan-coronovius vaccine. A key driver is the media, and the economics will follow the hype. We need to use that hype to our advantage to get to the real issues [ie the money]. Investors will respond if they see profit at the end of the process.”

**Some of the high profile Wellcome trust members during this time include

  • Eliza Manningham-Buller – Chair Wellcome Trust (2015-2021). Also MI5 Director General (2002-2007)
  • Jeremy Farr – Burroughs-Welcome Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer (2013 – 2023). Also UK government Science Advisor during Covid lockdown (2020-2021).
  • Amelia Fawcett – UK Wellcome board of governors (2013 – present). Also Lead Independent Director of State Street Corporation (2006 – present).
  • Julia Gillard – chair of Wellcome Trust (2014 – 2021). Former Australian prime minister (2010-2013)

Empty Gestures: The Covid 19 Psyops

Joshua Stylman

How Performative Activism Enabled Mass Persecution

Reality engineering requires three components: institutional power to create the narrative, social pressure to enforce it, and the deliberate persecution of anyone who challenges either. The COVID era provided the perfect case study in how this machinery operates – and revealed how performative activism serves as its most potent enforcement mechanism.

Every major element of the official COVID narrative has been proven false: The origins of the virus, the validity of PCR tests, the suppression of early treatments, the denial of natural immunity, the so-called “safety and effectiveness” of vaccines, and the utility of masks, lockdowns, and vaccine passports. Yet those who questioned any part of it faced unprecedented ostracism and persecution.

The manufactured panic ignored fundamental reality: COVID posed minimal risk to healthy people under 70, but was significantly more dangerous to the elderly and immunocompromised. Rather than focusing resources on protecting vulnerable populations, we destroyed economies, stole childhoods, and enforced measures that made no epidemiological sense. This wasn’t just about control – it was an engineered economic coup, the largest financial consolidation of power in modern history.

While small businesses were forcibly closed, Amazon’s profits soared. As working-class neighborhoods struggled, Wall Street celebrated record gains. The laptop class posted about ‘we’re all in this together’ from their home offices while essential workers were forced into what was portrayed as dangerous conditions to deliver their groceries. The same corporations trumpeting their commitment to “equity” through DEI initiatives were destroying economic mobility for the very communities they claimed to champion.

Just months before COVID, The Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security in partnership with the World Economic Forum and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation hosted Event 201, a high-level pandemic exercise on October 18, 2019, in New York, NY. An examination of the event reveals that the priority of the exercise centered not on treatment protocols or protecting the vulnerable but rather on how information control could be used to manufacture mass compliance.

[…]

The Profitable Performance of Power

The economic devastation fell hardest on those least able to bear it. While professionals attended Zoom meetings in their pajamas, service workers faced an impossible choice: show up to what was marketed as a deadly environment or lose their livelihoods. The data tells the story:

The financial beneficiaries were clear:

During the lockdown, seemingly put in place to “protect the vulnerable”, vulnerable small businesses lost $4.6 trillion in value, with minority-owned enterprises accounting for 41% of closures despite representing only 20% of total businesses. This wasn’t just hypocrisy – it was a calculated consolidation of power under the guise of public health.

[…]

These same corporations posting solidarity symbols were forcing their lowest-paid workers to choose between experimental injections or feeding their families. Their DEI committees issued statements about “inclusion” while they excluded anyone who questioned the narrative. They celebrated “diversity” in carefully curated public messaging while their mandates disproportionately impacted minority communities – the very people their DEI initiatives were ostensibly designed to protect.

This hypocrisy was essentially economic warfare masked by virtuous platitudes. The professional class’s performative empathy enabled the greatest upward transfer of wealth and opportunity in modern history. Their social media activism provided cover for policies that devastated the working class, particularly in minority communities. While they changed their profile pictures to signal virtue, they changed the economic landscape to enforce dependence.

The hypocrisy reached its peak during the Roe v. Wade controversy. The same voices passionately defending bodily autonomy in reproductive rights enthusiastically supported government-mandated medical procedures – often in the same social media feeds.

I saw this contradiction clearly one day and shared a meme that captured it perfectly: A woman holding a “My Body, My Choice” sign while wearing a “Vaccine Mandate Now!” t-shirt. The irony was obvious – or so I thought. But instead of engaging with the point, a friend of 20 years replied:

“The right to an abortion is at stake and unlike vaccine mandates which remain a choice (granted with heavy weight regarding employment for those who choose against)… Equating the two issues works to piss off women for sure but I don’t think does much to further your cause.”

Her response characterized vaccine mandates as merely a “choice with heavy weight” while referring to them as “my cause” – as if bodily autonomy were a partisan position rather than a universal principle. Most telling was what happened afterward: when I shared trial data and peer-reviewed studies about fertility concerns, there was no reply. The conversation simply ended. This pattern repeated itself across countless relationships – the desire to maintain a manufactured reality proved stronger than decades of friendship or even scientific evidence that might protect loved ones.

A simple observation – one that should have been common sense – was treated as ideological betrayal, even with a good friend. That was the moment I realized how deeply people had internalized the manufactured reality, where pointing out contradictions was itself a crime.

While professionals virtue signaled from home offices, essential workers faced impossible choices. Those who built careers championing marginalized communities suddenly celebrated stripping basic rights from their neighbors. It was deeply enlightening to observe those who said they were passionate about fighting discrimination celebrating people losing their jobs for making personal medical choices. Their empathy extended exactly as far as their pharmaceutical stock portfolios and/or unwavering faith in government authority – marching against discrimination until it became inconvenient for their tribal interests, rallying against medical coercion until they could enforce it themselves.

The Manufacturing of Hatred

The demonization of the non-compliant was systematic and crossed into territory that would be considered hate speech if directed at any other group. Major media outlets competed to express the most vitriolic condemnation of the unvaccinated. The New York Times ran headlines like “I’m Furious at the Unvaccinated, while The Washington Post declared that “remaining unvaccinated in public should be considered as bad as drunk driving.”

This wasn’t just media rhetoric – it directly programmed public perception and normalized extreme views. A January 2022 Rasmussen poll revealed that nearly half of Democratic voters supported not just fining the unvaccinated, but confining them to their homes, sending them to quarantine camps, and even taking their children. Public health officials cultivated and then amplified this hostility, speaking of a “pandemic of the unvaccinated,” creating a narrative of blame that would be used to justify discrimination at a scale unprecedented in modern America.

[…]

These admissions are accelerating. CDC Director Walensky now acknowledges they were “too late” to recognize natural immunity. FDA officials admit myocarditis risks were known earlier than disclosed. Each revelation confirms not just what critics warned about, but what the data had shown from the beginning.

Most telling of all, Dr. Deborah Birx, former White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator who was one of the chief architects of America’s COVID policies, finally admitted last week: “What we got wrong in public health is we didn’t explain that COVID vaccines were nothing like childhood vaccines… That is not what the COVID vaccine was designed to do. It wasn’t designed against infection.”

A forensic analysis of Pfizer’s trial data reveals troubling manipulation. A September 2023 preprint paper titled “Forensic Analysis of the 38 Subject Deaths in the 6-Month Interim Report of the Pfizer/BioNTech BNT162b2 mRNA Vaccine Clinical Trial” documented a subject who was originally in the placebo group but received a Moderna shot on December 23, 2020. This subject was subsequently hospitalized with COVID on December 31, died on January 11, 2021, and was still classified as an ‘unvaccinated death’ despite having received an mRNA vaccine. This deliberate misclassification skewed mortality data in favor of vaccination. Without this manipulation, the data would have shown the vaccinated were 31% more likely to die.

This wasn’t an isolated incident. According to Pfizer’s Post-Marketing Experience Report, released under FOIA, 42,086 case reports of adverse effects were submitted in just the first 90 days after release, including 1,223 deaths. Despite thes

Beyond ineffectiveness, safety concerns mounted. A February 2023 peer-reviewed study in the European Heart Journal evaluated 8.9 million young adults from Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden, finding that “booster dose is associated with increased myocarditis risk in adolescents and young adults.” Among males, a third dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine was associated with an “increased incidence rate of myocarditis” within 28 days of inoculation. Studies from Thailand and Switzerland showed similar cardiovascular effects. In a sane actives reached widadverse reactions to the COVID vaccines (including 38,398 deaths) and it’s ignored. The media treats one as a crisis and the other as a conspiracy theory.

[…]

The Experiment Without Consent

Perhaps most chilling is the complete absence of informed consent. The crisis revealed how quickly we abandoned our most sacred protections. The First Amendment wasn’t just challenged – it was systematically dismantled. Free speech, designed to protect the flow of information and allow people to hear all sides, was replaced with coordinated censorship. The same voices who once defended “speaking truth to power” now demanded power to silence dissent.

These actions violated not just ethics, but the foundational principles established after World War II to prevent exactly this kind of coercion. The very protections created to prevent medical experimentation without consent were themselves abused.

The public was never told they were participating in what amounts to the largest medical experiment in human history. The formulation that received FDA approval was never actually administered – a bait-and-switch that would be criminal in any other context. We still lack proper testing data, with the general population serving as unwitting test subjects.

The absence of informed consent was particularly egregious for pregnant women and those of childbearing age. Pfizer’s own December 2020 documents, published by the UK government, recommended against administering these shots to pregnant and breastfeeding women. Their trial informed consent documents explicitly stated:

Source: Pfizer Trial Documents, Page 12

Yet public health officials aggressively promoted these products to pregnant women and young girls without disclosing these warnings.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM) rapidly reversed decades of cautious protocol by recommending these products for pregnant women in July 2021, despite the absence of completed clinical trials in this population. This unprecedented departure from established safety procedures placed an entire generation of mothers and their unborn children in an uncontrolled experiment.

Those who raised concerns about giving experimental drugs to expecting mothers were branded as dangerous misinformation spreaders. Most shocking of all, the “studies” used to justify safety in pregnancy weren’t conducted on pregnant women at all – they were only done on mice.

[…]

VAERS reports of miscarriages and stillbirths increased by 450% in 2022 compared to the previous decade’s baseline. While similar vaccines showed no such signal, authorities dismissed these reports without investigation.

[…]

While the CDC and public health officials kept assuring the public that the mRNA stayed isolated to the injection site, Moderna’s pitch to Wall Street told a very different story. In a presentation to investors (later removed from their website but archived via the Wayback Machine), Moderna openly boasted about their technology’s ability to deliver mRNA to bone marrow, leading to “HSPC transfection and long-term modulation of all hematopoietic lineages.” Their slides proudly displayed how different LNP (lipid nanoparticle) formulations and repeat dosing could “enhance transfection” across various systems, including bone marrow and human HSPCs (hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells) in “humanized-mouse model systems.”

When the Derivative Bubble Pops: “The Great Taking”

When the Derivative Bubble Pops: “The Great Taking”

By David Rogers Webb and Melissa Tuggle

Click here to download a PDF version of the book, an HTML version is also available here.

The book is about the taking of collateral (all of it), the end game of the current globally synchronous debt accumulation super cycle. This scheme is being executed by long planned, intelligent design, the audacity and scope of which is difficult for the mind to encompass.

Included are all financial assets and bank deposits, all stocks and bonds; and hence all underlying property of all public corporations, including all inventories, plant equipment; land, mineral deposits, inventions and intellectual property.

Privately owned personal and real property financed with any amount of debt will likewise be taken, as will the assets of privately owned businesses which have been financed with debt. If even partially successful, this will be the greatest conquest and subjugation in world history.

Excerpts from the Book

In chapter 3, the author notes that ‘The greatest subjugation in world history will have been made possible by the invention of a construct; a subterfuge; a lie: the “Security Entitlement.’ Since their beginning more than four centuries ago, tradable financial instruments were recognized under law everywhere as personal property… It may come as a shock to you that this is no longer the case.’

‘You are led to believe that you own something, but someone else secretly controls it as collateral. And they have now established legal certainty that they have absolute power to take it immediately in the event of insolvency, and not your insolvency, but insolvency of the people who secretly gave them your property as collateral. It does not seem possible. But this is exactly what has been done with all tradable financial instruments, globally! The proof of this is absolutely irrefutable. This is wired to go now.’

‘Essentially all securities “owned” by the public in custodial accounts, pension plans and investment funds are now encumbered as collateral underpinning the derivatives complex, which is so large – an order of magnitude greater than the entire global economy – that there is not enough of anything in the world to back it.

The illusion of collateral backing is facilitated by a daisy chain of hypothecation and rehypothecation in which the same underlying client collateral is reused many times over by a series of secured creditors. And so it is these creditors, who understand the system, who have demanded even more access to client assets as collateral.’

‘It is now assured that in the implosion of “The Everything Bubble”, collateral will be swept up on a vast scale. The plumbing to do this is in place. Legal certainty has been established that the collateral can be taken immediately and without judicial review, by entities described in court documents as “the protected class.” Even sophisticated professional investors, who are sure that their securities are “segregated”, will not be protected.’

‘An enormous amount of sophisticated planning and implementation was sustained over decades with the purpose of subverting property rights in just this way. It began in the United States by amending the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) in all 50 states. While this required many years of effort, it could be done quietly, without an act of Congress.

These are the key facts:

  • Ownership of securities as property has been replaced with a new legal concept of a ‘security entitlement’, which is a contractual claim assuring a very weak position if the account provider becomes insolvent.
  • All securities are held in unsegregated pooled form. Securities used as collateral, and those restricted from such use, are held in the same pool.
  • All account holders, including those who have prohibited use of their securities as collateral, must, by law, receive only a pro-rata share of residual assets.
  • “Re-vindication”, i.e. the taking back of one’s own securities in the event of insolvency, is absolutely prohibited.
  • Account providers may legally borrow pooled securities to collateralize proprietary trading and financing.
  • “Safe harbor assures secured creditors priority claim to pooled securities ahead of account holders.”
  • The absolute priority claim of secured creditors to pooled client securities has been upheld by the courts.

‘… the objective is to utilize all securities as collateral.’

‘The documentation is absolutely irrefutable.’

‘In March of 2006, the Deputy General Counsel for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York provided a detailed response to questionnaire prepared by the Legal Certainty Group, which was looking to the Fed to tell them exactly how to do it.’

The following are excerpts from that response which is also included in full in this book’s appendix:

Q (E.U.): in respect of what legal system are the following answers given?

The Great Dispossession: Turning Our Property in Financial Assets Into the Property of “Secured Creditors”

A (NY Fed): This response confines itself to U.S. commercial law, primarily article 8… and parts of article 9, of the Uniform Commercial Code (“UCC”)

… The subject matter of Article 8 is “Investment Securities and the subject of Article 9 is “Secured Transactions.” Article 8 and Article 9 have been adopted throughout the United States.

The Q&A goes on to establish that the investor does not have rights attaching to particular securities in the pool, that an investor is always vulnerable to a securities intermediary’s solvency: “if the securities intermediary is a clearing corporation, the claims of its creditors have priority over the claims of entitlement holders.”

[…]

In chapter 5, ‘Collateral Management’, Webb describes how ‘inevitably following “the everything bubble” will be “the everything crash”. Once prices have essentially crashed and all financial firms rapidly become insolvent, these collateral management systems will automatically sweep all collateral to the Central Clearing Counterparties (CCPs) and Central Banks. The trap, into which all nations have been herded, is ready and waiting to be sprung. There will be an epic endpoint to the decades of seemingly out of control financialization, which served no beneficial purpose for humanity, but the devastating effects of which are apparent even now it has been a deliberate strategy executed over decades. This was the purpose of inflating the global bubble entirely out of proportion with any real world thing or activity, which must end in disaster for so many, with no pockets of resilience allowed to remain in any country.’

In chapter 7, Central Clearing Parties, Webb describes how insolvent these clearing houses are.
