“We have data now from Sweden that between 98 and 99% of the cases have had a very mild infection or didn’t even realize they were infected.” In other words, this is highly-contagious infection that poses little or no threat to most people. That suggests the economy can be kept open without endangering the lives of low-risk groups. The added benefit of allowing certain businesses to remain open, is that it creates a controlled environment in which the infection can spread rapidly through the healthy population who, in turn, develop the antibodies they need for future outbreaks. This all fits within Sweden’s plan for managing, rather than avoiding, the virus.

In a pandemic, there is no substitute for immunity, because immunity provides the best protection against reinfection. That’s why Sweden set its sights on immunity from the very beginning. They crafted a policy that was designed to protect the old and vulnerable, prevent the public health system from being overwhelmed, and, most important, allow younger, low-risk people to interact freely so they’d contract the virus and develop the antibodies they’d need to fight future infections. That was the plan and it worked like a charm. Now Sweden is just weeks away from achieving herd immunity (which means that future outbreaks will not be nearly as severe) while the lockdown nations– that are just now easing restrictions– face an excruciating uphill slog that may or may not succeed. Bottom line: Sweden analyzed the problem, figured out what to do, and did it. That’s…

Excellent article/Video… I love the part where he says ‘you can’t treat people as if they are stupid…’… Our governor should see this, he thinks people who want to go back to work are ‘greedy cowards’!!.. Ever heard anything so pathetic??

Clearly, Deb, your governor has no understanding of how class society works. The only people who can continue to self- isolate at this point are those who have savings or guaranteed income. If people have no money for food and shelter, they have no choice but to go back to work, to steal it, or to starve.

From the article:”In contrast, Sweden won’t need an exit strategy because it never shut down its economy or quarantined its people to begin with. So the transition to normal life and stepped-up economic activity is not going to be as difficult. ”
And it goes on like that by serving how Swedish authorities-politicians can tend to citizens needs in between lines in the articles with using Swedish scientists explanations. But the truth is not like that Dr. Bramhall.
In Sweden,
10,000 employees’ jobs (4,000 of whom are in Sweden) of Scandinavia Airlines (SAS) were ended by SAS. They first imposed on employees to reduce their wages by 20 percent; but for them it did not work, they did end jobs. Scandic and Nordic Choice, Sweden’s largest hotel chains, has decided to end thousands employees’ jobs. Nordic Choice, which has 17 thousand employees, fired 3 thousand employees. The company which is operating in Scandinavian countries, has around one hundred hotels in Sweden. Scandic, on the other hand, ended the work of 2 thousand laborers working in hotels and facilities in Sweden. The shipping company Stena Line fired the work of 950 workers, which corresponded to half of the employees. Norwegian, (operating in Norway, Sweden and UK) an aviation company that made excuses for the outbreak, also applied 7 thousand 300 employees to compulsory leave. Norwegian has 11 thousand employees. And list goes on. In addition, according to data from the labor-employment exchange agency, it shows that layoffs in small and medium-sized enterprises have increased.
On the other hand, a 300 billion krone crisis package, which the government made for monopolies due to the corona epidemic, came into effect on 7 April.
-(I have been working on an article about how working people around the world were affected after Covid-19. On every country basis. What I have added upper here is under the Swedish title. I will give more information when my article is over. However, I have not completed it yet. I don’t know why, but when the almost all humans got bored at home, I didn’t even have time to catch my breath for last two months; I guess this is a curse of the result of being an extraterrestrial.:) )-
For a long time I have been reading the articles in west media( whether leftists or rightist no difference) which are written in English about how Swedish physicians have good predictions and determinations and how the Ministry of Health of Sweden works in this direction about the epidemic in Sweden and exhibits a different behavior against pandemics than any other cases in the world. Especially Swedish government practices are served as a boast and success story.
Actually, the Swedish government is no different from the other governments. While Swedish government is taking measure more flexibly against Covid-19, it also treats workers in almost the same way as governments that take more stringent measures against Covid-19. There are only perhaps nuance differences in their behaviors towards the laborers.
Swedish scientists’ guidance and explanations against Covid-19 are being included in these articles which I mentioned upper lines written in west media. And it is interesting that the Swedish government that implements them, it is compressed in these articles and put in between lines in them, is served such as “Swedish government signed on success.”
Okay, scientists might be in accurate determinations and practices, but, if the Swedish government is so successful in implementing it, what are these layoffs?
I think the Swedish issue will be a really important indicator in the future. By saying that “our practices are very good in overcoming the disease”, on the other hand, they will be examined as perhaps the only country that increases the burden of the working people. As an indicator that capitalist countries have no non-discrimination when it comes to labourers.
I know it has been long comment Dr. Bramhall, and thank you for reading until last lines. Have a good weekend by the way! 🙂

correction;
-By saying that “our different practices are very good in overcoming the disease”, on the other hand, they will be examined as perhaps the only country that increases the burden of the working people as same as the other countries-
It seems I missed the add “different” and “as same as the other countries” .

Thank you for the long comment, migarium. You make an extremely important point. I really look forward to seeing the article you mention Hopefully, if nothing else, countries will have learned the lesson of becoming more self-sufficient in terms of food, manufacturing, and shorter supply chains. When other countries ban all foreign workers, it seems Sweden would have no choice but to shut down their airlines and fire all their airline workers. Either that or do what China did and have their (government owned) central bank issue billions of dollars directly into the economy to continue to pay furloughed workers. The technical term for this process is sovereign money.
I have long been an advocate of ending the practice of private banks creating all our money (out of thin air) when they issue loans (this is where 97-98% of it comes from). Numerous countries are doing it already to fund their COVID19 recession – including Japan, Indonesia, South Africa, Germany, and surprisingly England. Here in New Zealand we’re trying to pressure our own government to do the same through the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.
