Shutting down the Strait of Hormuz would destroy the American economy by detonating the $1.2 quadrillion derivatives market; and that would collapse the world banking system, crushing the world’s $80 trillion GDP and causing an unprecedented depression.
hmmm… i was going to post this on the nutbar in chief thread. can’t. so i post it here.
Perhaps the reason Trump called off the disaster beckoning airstrike is that he saw the writing on the wall. (mənē mənē təqēl ūp̄arsīn, “numbered, numbered, weighed, and they are divided”) (Daniel 5:25)
“While unable to live up to his electoral promises, Trump seems to be aware that the path laid out for him in the event of an attack on Iran would lead to his political destruction and probably to a conflict that is militarily unsustainable for the US and especially its Saudi and Israeli allies. It would also be the catalyst for the collapse of the world economy.”

I think that’s a good theory, nomad. Personally I think the whole thing was a cynical political strategy to improve his chances in 2020. At present I don’t think he planned to bomb Iran to begin with. It’s too big a risk, what with Turkey and Pakistan allying with Iran and Russia-China, rather than the US.
Sorry about closing the comments on the other post. I don’t like to that. However I was being bombarded by CIA trolls and I’m too busy with local organizing at present to moderate their comments.
