The environmental devastation of cheap fast fashion – not only is the average person buying 60 per cent more items of clothing than they did 15 years ago but, according to the McKinsey 2019 State of Fashion report, they are only keeping them as half as long as they used to.
25 March 2019 – It takes around 7,500 litres of water to make a single pair of jeans, equivalent to the amount of water the average person drinks over a period of seven years. But the fashion industry is considered by the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), to be the second most polluting industry in the world.

I reckon it is time we learn again to go more for quality, so that we can be wearing things again and again rather than throwing them out after just one season. What a disgusting waste that is!

Very surprising, isn’t it, Aunty – more carbon emissions than aviation (which produces a lot) and shipping combined. I have been buying most of my clothes secondhand for years, that way I get quality and low price, too.
