It’s just not true that “many scientists” debate the human contribution to climate change. Climate scientists are effectively certain that human beings are responsible for most or all of the warming over the past few centuries. (Or more than all of it — there’s some evidence we’d be drifting toward an ice age if not for global warming.)
It was an interesting read! I have seen firsthand people pushing this rhetoric – that climate change is happening, but humans are not responsible. Not too long ago they firmly posited that climate change is a hoax. Now, with mounting evidence and its existence being affirmed, the whole “its a hoax” well has run dry. And, so people have adapted. They continue to walk party lines on the issue, but do so in a way that allows them to acknowledge climate change while continuing to ignore it. It’s quite a horrible situation, particularly when there is mounting evidence to suggest that climate mitigation can coincide with economic growth – the key concern of this parti prison group. At least many articles are beginning to call the tactics of these people out 🙂

And it’s clear we have the oil and coal industry for launching and funding the Agnotology movement. At present Exxon is being sued for failure to inform their shareholders about the risk of climate change.
