February 08, 2018 “Information Clearing House” – Countering Russia has become a lucrative industry in Washington. In recent years, the think tank business has exploded. But who funds these organizations, who works for them and what are the real agendas at play?
From the start, let’s be clear, the term “think tank” essentially amounts to a more polite way of saying “lobby group.” Bar a few exceptions, they exist to serve – and promote – the agendas of their funders.
However, particularly in the United States, the field has become increasingly shady and disingenuous, with lobbyists being given faux academic titles like “Senior Non-Resident Fellow” and “Junior Adjunct Fellow” and the like. And this smokescreen usually serves to cloud the real goals of these operations.

We would all be more free if we could have two more surveillance agencies.

Um, I hate to break it to you guys, but the true purpose of all US intelligence agencies is not to go after bad guys but to suppress dissent, not only in the US but in most developing and industrialized countries. I reckon there are probably a few desert nomads somewhere who aren’t on the US intelligence radar, but I suspect they number less than a million – out of a global population of 7.6 billion.

So DrB, you are saying that we should be more intelligent about our views of intelligence agencies and go off and join “a few desert nomads” that are under their radar and leave our TV’s and iPhones?
Is freedom worth such a high price?
