Google blacklists 10,000 sites a day for various reasons, mainly for spam. For them, this includes sharing or modifying blog posts like the one below. Many bloggers see their traffic vanish and close down.

Google is why I refuse to turn on Hulu or Netflix because I cannot view content on those sites without downloading Google Chrome onto my computer. I am filthy tired of these assholes forcing shit down our throats and telling us to like it and now to know that we are ‘blacklisted’ also? That is just the end of enough! I am ‘old school’ and cannot stand this newfangled mess that is exactly that, mess!

I would never use Google Chrome or Microsoft Explorer products – I will stick with open source browsers like Firefox. Because the code they use is open to the whole world to scrutinize, they are far less likely to have security flaws or spy on you.

Good point, gerry. I think people are going to have to return to old fashioned face to face encounters with people they know and trust if they really want to know what’s going on.

I confess I use Google, too – usually because I’m in a hurry. I tried to set up an alternative search engine once – that didn’t censor the links it calls up – but it was too cumbersome.

I use Firefox 90% of the time (and an Acer Chromebook when travelling) and have recently begun to ween myself off Google. I’ve been trying out alternate search engines such as Ecosia, DuckDuckGo and Yandex the past couple of weeks and find Yandex the by far superior to the others for most things, though I still occasionally use Google for images.

I use Firefox 100%. I haven’t used Yandex though – will give it a try.
