The federal government has always balked at policies supportive of renewable energy, largely to the control of Congress and the White House by big oil and coal. However I see lots of exciting developments at the state and local level, especially on the West Coast. Usually where California (the largest population center) goes, the rest of the country follows. With the Congress/White currently stalemated, they are increasingly impotent from holding back the renewable energy revolution occurring locally.
