Latin America sent three quarters of the world’s rescuers to Ecuador, Europe the second-highest amount, and the United States zero.
Latin America far surpasses any region in sending humanitarian aid and rescue experts to Ecuador for earthquake relief, with Venezuela sending almost a third of all rescue specialists and Palestine sending 19—19 more than the United States.
Palestine is the only country outside of Europe and Latin America that sent rescue experts to Ecuador, though Russia sent 30 tons of humanitarian aid, and China sent a satellite and a 911 system, mobile hospitals and US$100,000 to the Ecuadorean Red Cross.
Latin America sent a total of 702 rescuers, with even impoverished and violence-ridden Honduras sending a rescuer. Cuba sent the most after Ecuador’s neighboring countries and Mexico, followed by left-wing Bolivia.

Your comment surprises me, futuret. I’m not sure where you get your information from, but I would be curious to see the sources for some of your statements. According to my information, Palestine is an extremely diverse society, consisting of both moderate and fundamentalist Muslims, humanists, atheists and Christians. Approximately 38,000 Palestinians are Christians.

Interesting link, futuret. Thanks for sharing. My impression is that it deals with a somewhat different issue – whether Palestinians support Israel being a theocracy, ie a state in which religious law supersedes the democratic will of the people. Israel is not really a democracy, in that numerous non-Jews, including Arabs, Africans and Christians are denied equal rights before the law.
I tend to agree with the Palestinian perspective that it’s impossible for a theocracy, where all laws are based on religious law, to be a democracy. I, too, would prefer to see Israel become a secular state where all groups are guaranteed equal rights regardless of their religion or ethnicity.

HERE IN THE FORMER USA, WE ARE DENIED RIGHTS AS WELL. IN FACT, IN EVERY COUNTRY OF THE WORLD RIGHTS UNDER THE LAW ARE DENIED IN SOME FORM OR FASHION. WE ARE NOT A DEMOCRACY HERE EITHER, IF YOU ARE EXTREMELY WEALTHY THERE IS A DIFFERENT KIND OF LAW FOR YOU, THAN FOR A POOR PERSON. THERE ARE INJUSTICES EVERYWHERE, BUT NONE SO PARAMOUNT AS IN A MUSLIM COUNTRY AMONG MUSLIM PEOPLE AND THEIR RELATION TO OTHER PEOPLE AS WELL. MUSLIMS MAKE UP 93 PERCENT OF THE PALESTINIAN POPULATION. AS FAR AS ECUADOR THEY ARE TRYING ON AN INTERNATIONAL FRONT TO FURTHER PROMOTE AND CHAMPION THEIR CAUSE IN SUPPORT OF A PALESTINIAN STATE. HEAVEN HELP US, THE WORLD DOES NOT NEED ANOTHER MUSLIM COUNTRY, IN FACT NO MUSLIM COUNTRY AT ALL. JUST TO LET YOU KNOW, BOTH YOU AND I ARE CONSIDERED INFIDELS AND THEY WOULD AT ALL COST KILL YOU TOO. MAKE NO MISTAKE, WHAT I HAVE SAID, IS AN ABSOLUTE FACT. IF YOU THINK THEY CARE ABOUT ECUADOR, THEY DO NOT, IT IS JUST ANOTHER POLITICAL MORE.
