
According to the New York Times, Obama has commuted all but four months of Chelsea Manning’s remaining prison sentence. Manning is the former army intelligence analyst who leaked evidence of US war crimes and other illegal and corrupt activities to Wikileaks in 2010. Her 35 year sentence was the longest sentence ever imposed for a leak conviction. She has been in prison for seven years. Manning is now set to be freed on May 17, 2017.

Chelsea was not pardoned.. her sentence was only reduced.. so no need for Assange to surrender as promised.

Well, Obama trying to present himself as “mild”?! The victims Families of his war policy wouldn´t laugh about this! And the whole Manning affair smells from MKULTRA. They feared the Hero Manning, so they transmuted him into a Girl, much more difficult to be accepted by many People as a hero! Poor guy!

Good point, Schluter. Also he should have pardoned Leonard Peltier. That was a notably omission. A prosecutor in the Justice Department who participated in the trial advised Obama to pardon him (after 41 years) due to a totally botched trial that failed to producing any evidence linking him with the crime he was charged with:

Isn’t it? Pity about Leonard Peltier, though. He’s very unwell and will probably die in prison at this point.
