Ohio Gubernatorial candidate, Dennis Kucinich, released the first in a series of forthcoming detailed platform points surrounding his campaign on January 25. Fracking, a contentious issue for the people of Ohio (but not for their politicians) has contributed to poor water quality, decrease in agriculture, and damages to human health throughout the state and many have simply accepted it as a way of life. But Kucinich is putting it back on the table as an issue that will be tackled, given he wins the election.

The Most Revolutionary Act

That right there is the problem with us here in the states;”many have simply accepted it as a way of life.” We just accept our plight because if it entails getting up off our ass and actually doing something, we would rather drink tainted water, eat GMO food, writhe in pain and agony from doing so and then drop dead. Apathy and complacency rules the day here and if anything is to be done, somebody else had better do it because we won’t. And the sad fact of the matter is, corporate heads and politicians know this and they act accordingly.

Shelby, I’m so glad to be living in New Zealand, where people still have fight in them. Foreign fossil fuel companies have been engaged in fracking here in Taranaki for 20 years and the movement against them just keeps growing and growing. With the drop in the price in oil, several companies have decided it isn’t worth the aggravation of dealing with us and have pulled out. We have a big case against them in the Environment Court against them next month to make them follow best practice international health and safety practices.
